When I get home it's that time when things are slowing down on the planet.

I take my shoes off and go to feed the kids.

The back porch is a nice place to sit for a while and coimmune with nature.

Sit down, I have beer, wine, cheese and a hungry ORC holding on to the crackers.

What is it w/Colorado and the snow?

Grab a kitteh or doggie and spend some time....

You must be a mind-reader or something! Today is the day that work begins to screen in my back patio!!! While I don't QUITE have a view like the one in the photo, I do have a few trees with many resident birds (as well as my own) to watch as I sit and drink iced tea and strum my guitar! We can't use the yard most of the year because the mosquitos are so bad that they try to pick you up and carry you over the fence, but a screen will foil them! Unless of course they figure out how to open the screen door. . .

My birdies will finally get to spend time outdoors - first piece of furniture that we bought was a new playstand :D Should be finished before next weekend!

Yay!

So I'll start with a cappucino and some patio furniture so that everyone can come and visit, sit out there with me and listen to the cardinal sing and the woodpeckers peck and my neighbors argue!

C.

I've been missing all of the good food and drinks at the bar, but I'm just coming back to life after a week long bout of severe food poisoning that knocked me on my butt, and sent me to the hospital. I think I'll keep it light with some 7-Up and crackers with mild cheese - please..........:) I'll hold off on the "good" food for a few more days. :(

Food poisoning, yucky, I feel badly for you. Am glad it's over though. Be gentle with your tummy for a few extra days.

Barkeep, it's still before noon here but could I get a gin and tonic anyway. Pet stress (see post on Deigo) and all the other stress in my life lead me to believe I could use a drink a chair in the sunshine and 5 minutes away from it all.

Thanks Maggie. If you had asked me this last week at this time, I would have asked for someone to shoot me and put me out of my misery.
Here's a tip: Stay away from potato salad at Food Lion's deli dept! I almost never buy potato salad - I just make it myself. Never again will I buy any...... :( Lesson learned the expensive way! Now I just need to get my strength back.

Gayle - imagine your worst IBS flare-up, and then multiply that by 10 times, and it going on non-stop for a full week! At first I thought that's what it was ailing me. I almost wish it had been that......

I am so depressed! Just give me a bottle of cherry vodka and a dark corner to curl up in. :(

Seems our stupid city decided to redo the National Cemetery where my dad is buried. They stared work on MAY 9th. The work won't be done until september. No vehicles are allowed in the cemetery while they are working on the gates. We can, walk from the gate into the cemetery. Yeah, if you can walk that far, which I CAN'T!!! :(

Even if I could, I couldn't ask the public trasportation people to wait for me while I trudged up there. So, for the first time since his death, my dad won't have a flower on his grave over Memorial Weekend. I can't help crying. I feel like I'm letting him down. :(

I did post about this on their little web opinion site. I told them they could have waited until AFTER Memorial Day to start this. sheesh

I am sorry you can't get there, maybe they can come up with a plan if enough people complain. I had a thought though if it doesn't work out for this year. Put the flower on your kitchen table sit down and tell your dad why there is a change this year and that you hope he doesn't mind, I'm sure he will understand and not mind at all, grateful to still be thought of instead.

Wombat, I have never found any in cow pies. If I did it would probably be a whooper. I would have to get the uniloader to pick it up. They grow around almost dead to dead elm trees & like it warm & damp. The season is close to an end on them but next come the gooseberries, black ( not being racist just describing the color)choke cherries, wild strawberries & white raspberries. Yikes Pom!! I can't believe that you're still recovering!! Killer potato salad!! When we were kids and our stomachs were upset from the flu or whatnot, we always got pastina when we were recovering. It's tiny little pastas that you boil in salted water, with a few bits of cut up carrot. Then you spoon out a bit of the pasta/carrot/water together and eat. Comforting and easily digestable. Total positive Italian childhood recovery experience!!

Yes - I'm familiar with pastina. My mother used to make it a lot, and I still do frequently. Lately I'm living on chicken noodle soup, crackers, some mashed potatoes, a little boiled chicken, some poached fish (not all at once of course). What I wouldn't give for a big Angus burger from Hardees!!!
This whole mess just seems to be a flare-up of IBS brought on by the food poisoning. More meds from the doc yesterday - hope they work!

That might soothe your intestines...but if you have the plant, don't eat the pointy bits! lol Take a couple of stalks and squeeze the gel into a glass of water and stir. Add a bit of apple juice if you want. (I use room temp water, but you might want it just a tad warmer).

I HOPE you are way better soon!:love::love:

Hey everyone! Boy what a week and it's only Tuesday. I could sure use some comfort food - maybe some mac and cheeze, oh yeah, that would go down just fine with an ice cold Corona. :)

Since this is called Porch Thursday maybe we could dedicate it to MOFF, RB Lilac and her sweet porch angels. I think MOFF needs something to cheer her up. RIP sweet Lilac. :( You were loved and are missed.

Feel better soon POM.
