View Full Version : Keep Rascal in your prayers
I haven't posted about Rascal because I was waiting until I had more results.
He has been losing weight for a while and I blamed Annie - because she always pushes him out of the way to get to all of the food.
A trip to the vets brought good news and bad. His blood work Thank God was perfect.
However, my boy has some serious dental issues. He is in surgery now even as I write this.
Please, I would so appreciate it if you could keep Rascal in your thoughts and prayers that he will be alright.
Annie and Emma are totally distraught with him not in the house.
Thank you!

Prayers on the way for your sweet orangy boy!
I just got off the phone with the vets office and Rascal did not have any teeth extracted. Although his gums were in bad shape, no teeth were decayed or loose.
He did however, have a small growth under his tongue which has been removed. He has one suture which will dissolve.
The growth will be sent into the lab for a biopsy and I should have results back by next Thursday which oddly enough is my birthday.
You can imagine that I am praying for a wonderful birthday present that
the growth is benign. I cannot imagine putting this sweet cat through any long term treatments. I have been there and done that and I swore I would never do it again.
Has anyone had any experience in this type of growth?
Thank you for your prayers - they are deeply appreciated.

Prayers for Rascal, and for a benign test result.
Thanks everyone for your prayers and thoughts.
He is back home now and I tried to close him into a bedroom for some privacy and comfort. He wanted none of it - put him where the action is, please. (I took this as a good sign).
Annie and Emma are approaching him very cautiously and carefully.
He's a bit loopy as you can imagine.
They showed me the growth and it is a little tiny thing - pure white.
He's resting now and can have a small amount of food and a little water in about two hours.
Give all of your babies a hug and kiss tonight - ya just never know.......
Thanks again - Gini

I'm still at work - winding down and ready to go home but I just had to check on PT to see if there was a thread for Rascal. You guys have been in my mind all day. It's such a worry for everyone concerned.
Many many Canuck prayers coming to you from north of the border. I'm so glad he's back home and praying big time that it's nothing sinister.

Then: he has serious dental issues:(
Then all his toothies are stable:)
Then: the growth under the tongue:(
Now I can easily see it's time for :) news!
It can't be any other way.

Hope the biopsy report will be the best birthday gift you can get NEGATIVE!!!
At 7 PM last night Rascal demanded food. He wasn't supposed to have any until around 8 PM - but I took the demand as a good thing.
I gave him the food the vet gave me and he had about two tablespoons of it along with a small amount of water. He loved this food and at $2.35 per can, he should love it!!:)
He spent a quiet night and stayed to himself, I think sending messages to Annie and Emma to leave him alone.
This morning he ate, but very little.
You cannot imagine how awful Annie is - trying every which way to get to his food while she has a whole bowl of her very favorite waiting for her.
Time for separate dining rooms!!
Thanks again for your prayers and good thoughts, this little boy owns my heart!

I'm so sorry to hear Rascal is losing weight, it has to be because of his gum problems and that thing under his tongue. I so hope you will get a good report on the test results. That will be the best birthday present ever! :)
At least he wants to eat a little, that's a good sign.
Sending lots of positive thoughts to your dear boy. Please give him kisses from me - Fister sends purrs.

Gini, I'm just now seeing this.:o I'm glad to hear that Rascal's dental went well and that he didn't have to have any teeth extracted.:) I sure hope that the growth under his tongue will be benign and that you'll get your birthday wish of a healthy cat.:) He was probably losing weight because his gums were hurting him and his sister wasn't letting him eat.;) Lots of prayers and positive thoughts are being sent his way. Please take care. (((HUGS)))

Just wondering how sweet Rascal is feeling. Hope he is eating better! Prayers still on the way for a good report on the lump.
Oh Rascal is such a sweet cat. He kept pretty much to himself over the weekend and slept. He ate, but not that much.
But this morning he wouldn't touch Annie and Emma's food and looked at me with a "so where is that good stuff you have just for me?"
And then he ate half a can - with me guarding his backside the whole time.
How I do love this cat!!
Thanks for asking about him and for your prayers.

:)
Reminds me of when Bowser was with us - and needed Rx: Canned Grub to
combat his "bladder rocks" ...
The Other Guys would crowd around and try to "help" him inhale the Good Stuff.
He could throw a body-block on Cinder & Smokey better than an NFL tackle could!
And if that didn't clear the area; he could Curl a Lip, Show Teeth,
Growwwwwl, and Gobble a Byte - all at the same instant.
Dawg had some rare talents! ;)
Hope Rascal continues to enjoy the Good Stuff and recover!

I just received a call from the vet and what was removed is only a polyp!!
Absolutely nothing wrong with my boy - I just have to get him to chow down more, now that his teeth have been cleaned.
Am I ever grateful.............for Rascal's good health and also for all of you thinking about him and offering prayers.

Yippeee!!! What a great birthday present for you, Gini. :)
I'm so glad everything has worked out so well for Rascal, and it sounds like as long as he continues to get "the good stuff" he'll start chowing down a bit more - especially if meowmy's got his back. ;):D
