I have a four year old border collie/ springer spainel mix who out of my 5 dogs i love alot but he got in a fight a broke his leg I used him for agility i wasnt pro or anything just for 4H but he loved it out there and i love to see him happy but is it okay to still show him in agility?? his leg is fully healed but it healed at a 45 degree outward angle it looks bad but its sad seeing him lie around all day I've tried other things but it dont help. I feel bad. theres not much to do Im only 14 years old. He jumps 3 feet without hesitation on his bad leg and it dont seem to phase him. (It's his front left leg)

Ive been told I can show him with vets permission and I've been told I can show him till the A-fram gets higher.. I dont know what to do?

If the vet says he can do agility and the dog still enjoys doing it them I myself would go for it.

Since your vet knows the case specifically, I think I would tend to trust the vet. If you doubt his opinion, maybe get a second opinion? But it really sounds like something that you would have to see the dog in "person" to have an opinion on it.

Hes got three other opions saying he can do it and mine. i put alot of trust in my vet, im always in the vets office helping around or have a sick animal that i found, and he treats it with so much care, animals and family first.

It would be probably be alright to use Odie in agility but I doubt that you will be able to compete with him due to the fact that most of the agility orginizations in North America do not allow dogs that do not have the use of all of their legs, or dogs that are blind to compete due to the fact that it isn't always safe for them. But i think that as long as you keep an eye on him and keep the jumps at a low height (you'll most likely want to keep the jump height between 4 and 12 inches) he should be okay to do as just a fun thing. Just please try to remember that even with four legs all the running and jumping that's done in agility can put a lot of strain on a dogs body so keep an eye him.
