Dakota's Mommy

Dakota got to go on her first long road trip with us this past weekend! She did a really good job, even though the ride was very close quarters for all three of us. We left on Thursday night around 5 and took our truck over to Mississippi to Brian's mom's house to see her over the long weekend. Dakota did a really good job with her new experience of meeting three new, and totally different, dogs! First she met Toby, a very big, loveable, yet old golden lab. Then she met Rascal, a puppy around her same age that is not even half of her size. They had a blast together. She was scared of him at first, but when she barked and he backed away from her, she conquerred her fear of him. They chased each other around and had a great time! Last, but not least, she met Brian's Grandma's dog, Buddy, a Boston Terrier that is about 12 years old! She did a fine job with him too, although she kept getting in trouble for trying to play when he doesn't want to.
Dakota also got an adventure with a couple of cats! They didn't do too good in the same room, but Dakota had a blast with them. She kept sniffing at them when we first got there even though they hissed at her. As the weekend went on, Dakota just chased them through the house, and either under the bed or into the laundry room (the door has a tiny whole that the cats can fit into but Dakota can't really even get her head inside)! It was so cute to see her this weekend!
But, over all, she did a great job and even slept most of the way on the actual trips. Brian and I we're very greatful for that though because the two of us with her on the bench in between us made for a very tight fit, especially since the trip took around 12 hours each way! This may of been her first long trip, but it's also her last long trip in our truck! Guess we'll have to take the Camry from now on!
