I just saw this ad on Craigslist and Figured if anyone is near East Hanover they might be able to help?

Melissa

Help! Any animal lovers out there? If anyone lives in the area of Exit 80 off of Interstate 81, there is a cat in need of help at the rest area near Exit 80.

The cat is mostly black, looks like an adult. He was on the left side of the building (with the building facing the highway), near an overturned wheelbarrow. I was travelling on the highway and stopped at this rest area. I tried to get to him, but I didn’t have any food with me.

He’s still there, meowing like crazy! With the snow and the cold, if someone, anyone could try to at least get some food to the poor thing, it would be awesome.

Please help this little soul!

I contacted the person that wrote this ad on craigslist and she said someone is supposed to go looking for this cat so I went on craigslist under Harrisburg just to see if anyone replyed to her post and here is what I saw today:

I went to "help" this cat..

After "here kitty kitty"ing all around, noticing pawprints in the snow and worrying, I found an attendant and inquired if he knew anything about this poor kitty.

He LAUGHED!! This cat comes from the farm over the hill EVERY NIGHT to mew and act pathetic in hopes of a handout from the travellers! Little stinker. This cat does not need help AND it owes me gas money!

:)

I still think this cat would probably benefit by finding a better home.

Well, if he is a farm cat he is most likely an outside cat so actually he does need help in my opinion. He needs someone to make him an indoor cat.

That's what I think too.

Well I can't take in another without having a temp. place for it to go and I've been trying to trap a cat near me but that hasn't gone too well. Maybe I'll find a perm. home for this boy/girl.

I totally understand that. Doesn't it make you mad though that people like the attendant just take it for granted that this poor kitty wanders like this, and so close to the highway! :(

So I e-mailed the person that said they went to the place and heard the cat and this is what she said to me.

"You don't understand. This cat HAS a home. It lives on a farm. It's not thin, or in need of help. It's very smart to have figured out that sucker travellers will feed it yummy snacks. Please do not have someone catnap this cat!

Thanks for your concern though. I hope you can help a kitty, a lot of them need foster homes out there. This just isn't one of them! "

-Well I go that way to my sister's but I won't be go to her place for a while yet but I don't feel this cat should have to live outside like this. poor thing.

Anyone on PT want a kitty?
