Winter is tough on everyone, even indoor cats. The air is so dry that when I reached out to pet my cats, they would flinch away, in anticipation of the electric shock. So, for the improved health of my pets, my furniture, and myself, I finally bought a humidifier.
Most people use a hygrometer to measure the amount of water in the air, but I find Sassy's fur works just as well; his fur is long and fine and very sensitive to humidity. If I can pet him without sparks flying off his coat, the humidity level is optimal.
Just another way in which cats improve our lives! And here's a picture of my Sassy.
