Just a nice large glass of potable water, please, in memory of those in Haiti, and in tribute to all working to rescue and help survivors. Sorry to bring such a serious note to Thursdays, but the tropical picture brought "island paradise" to mind, and thoughts of Haiti.
How sad is it that, even before the earthquake, there was one - yes, one priest who was well known amongst poor folk simple because he gave away free water.
We take water for granted.

I'm here....
WOW, does that picture look inviting. Especially when I can't see a thing out the window here. It is incredibly foggy, cold and the the fog is leaving ice behind it. I almost took a skid down the stairs of the building this morning, and I was wearing grippy sneakers.
Lady, thanks for the nuzzle, you're such a wonderful dogger.
Feeling good and strong today, will enjoy that while it lasts.
It's pretty early, before 7 am here, could I get anyone a tea? I'm having white-raspberry, willing to share, pot's not empty yet.

If there's one thing Belgium is known for above all else - more than Tintin, chocolate and female tennis stars - it's beer. The Belgians have a rich beer-making tradition dating back to the Middle Ages and more than 125 breweries today; beer, it is said, is the very lifeblood of the country. But trouble is, literally, brewing. Supplies of Belgium's top brands - Stella Artois, Hoegaarden and Leffe - are rapidly running low in bars and supermarkets as unions have set up blockades outside the country's largest breweries to protest proposed job cuts.
For nearly two weeks, picketers have stacked crates and set fires to block the entrances to the headquarters of Anheuser-Busch InBev, the world's largest brewer, in the city of Leuven, as well as other plants. The protesters have not only prevented any beer from leaving the breweries, they've also stopped the raw ingredients and packaging materials from getting in. At one point, workers at the Jupille plant near LiÈge even took their managers hostage for 11 hours, demanding to speak to the company's top officials, before finally letting them go the following morning. A few days later, the picketers tried a different approach, handing out free beer to passersby. (See pictures of Anheuser-Busch and St. Louis.)
We're RUNNING OUT OF BEER!!!!!

There is a Bud plant here in the valley. IT was also a Busch Gardens-the garden part closed be-ore I was old enough to get -ree beer!
I knew a -ew guys that worked there later on and they got -ree beer until the company and unions shut that down.

Here's a good hint when you work on cars.
Grab a bottle of DAWN dish soap and squeeze a bit onto your hands and rub it in well-especially on your nails.
Then go work, when you are done? wash your hands and you'll notice that they clean up better than if you don't 'treat' then!
Good luck!

Oh, Richard - unfortunately, Lady's Human got the sensitive skin (believe it or not) from our mom, as did I, so coating any skin with Dawn would make things far worse, not better!
Just some band-aids for afterwards, and a sympathetic mug of coffee for da brudder.
At one point, you could have lined up three generations of male hands - my Dad, Lady's Human, and my nephew James (our sister's oldest) and have sworn they were the same hands, they just vary in the amount of wear, tear, hair and scars! Pretty odd, as they don't really look alike, but they all also share the same cowlick in back - which is also the reason I will NEVER let the hair on the back of my head be less than 5 inches long - as I know mine would do the same thing!

My dad died of melanoma some years ago, even tho his blood is mainly Welsh and Irish, I'm a lot fairer than he was....I sort of take after mum who has the northern fairness.

Hmmmmmmm......not sure if there's any Swede in us.
Unless of course there were some captive women that we Norwegians and Frisian Islanders stole from time to time.......hee hee.
My mothers side is from York in England, which circa a thousand years ago was the main Danish settlement in Britain, Mums family records go back to around the 1100 mark. But her family name isn't Danish, it's more Norwegian really, and of course it's known that there were a few Frisian pirates involved (they were all axe swingers there)....a few Normans in those early years to, but they were Norwegian originally before settling in Normandy. So yeah, my family are all very fair, all blondies, much too fair for the Aussie sun, so we have to watch ourselves outdoors, wear hats and sun cream and stuff.
But living here on the New England plateau is good, as most of the year the temperatures are cool.
