Daniel, what a survivor you are! Your story brought tears to my eyes. You had such a rough start in life, then to have to struggle outdoors in the cold PA winter was so unfair but a happy life was just around the corner for you w/your new family. There's something special about orange cats, I don't know what it is, but they seem to be tougher than most and able to survive any conditions. You are certainly an example of that, handsome boy, so for this and more you are deserving of your title of COTD. Enjoy!

What she said!:)

Daniel, what a brave, handsome, and fearless survivor you are! Yes, those PA winters are beyond harsh, and to make it by yourself under such conditions speaks volumes about your purrsonality.

Yes, I had LES reading about your plight, but a happy ending brings a smile to me, esp. when I look at your beautiful face.

If anyone deserves to be COTD, you are it!:) Make sure your family makes you the highlight of the day, complete with lots of treats, scritches, toys, and plenty of lovins!!:love::love:

Congratulations, gorgeous orange boy!!:love::love::love:

Congratulations on being our Cat of the Day, Daniel!

It was sad to read about your rough start, but what a survivor and brave boy you are, having survived the cold outdoors without being able to see. I am very impressed.

I am so glad you have found the perfect family to live with, and have other kitties to play with. I hope you are spoilt rotten every day with lots of loving treats and fun! A double portion of everything is what you deserve today. ;)

I wish you a long, healthy and happy life!

I DO NOT want to get started on certain people in this world. :( I have kin nearby that leave their cats/dog out in the cold winters of Western Maryland.
Like in your case, I DO want to say that its the vet, vet tech and all the other employees that make such a difference in this world. :)My sad tears turn to happy tears now. I want to wish you happy COTD. May you and your entire family... furry and not furry have a great year:D You are the CATS MEOW!:love::love:

What a beautiful boy he is and luckily he came across the right people who were able to save him. I am of the mind now that no furry family member should be let outside without supervision - we don't do it to dogs, open the door and let them take off not knowing who they will come into contact with, WHY in heaven's name do we think it is safe for a smaller animal. It is beyond me. With all the predators, mean neighbors, cars, etc. In this day and age, it is no longer safe - period!

I am glad that you mentioned that he has Rhino so that people can see that unlike other diseases/illnesses that cats often have, it can be managed fairly easily. Too often we are not told of the options and circumstances and don't give our furry friends a chance. I work with a few shelters and sadly some people dump their animals at our shelters because of Rhino and don't tell us their cat is a carrier (they don't show signs all the time) and now Rhino is in most shelters and since it's an airborne illness you can rarely get rid of it. But these cats can live healthy happy lives for many years so no one should let Rhino scare them anymore.

Bless you Daniel, and your human caregivers.

What a wonderful kitty you are, Daniel...and brave, too. I have a deaf kitty, so I know a little about different cats. She doesn't know she's deaf just the way you don't know you're blind. Taking in kitty's that aren't "perfect" can be the greatest experience in the world and they deserve a home just like everyone else. That's why I always encourage folks to adopt the less than perfect ones and see how wonderful they really are.
Way to go sweet Daniel!

Hi Daniel! What a gorgeous orange boy you are, and you live really close to me too! I'm in Allentown and teach in Bethlehem!

I'm so glad that your vet and friends gave you the chance to show them what a great cat you would be, and that you also got a home with one of them! They are so lucky to have you!

Congrats on being our Cat of the Day, and many hugs and scritchies going out to you!

Hello Daniel, you handsome, handsome little boy!!! I'm so glad you have a family that loves you so much and has taken the time to care for you and give you a wonderful home. We have a kitty who has only one eye, but due to being sick as a kitten it is constantly watering. The other eye ruptured when he was tiny. We named him Captain Morgan. He, too, is a handsome boy!!! And a special kitty, just like you!! He, like you, doesn't know he should have two eyes and gets around just fine. He's also a cuddly-bug. Blessings upon your family for giving you a wonderful life!!!

Happy Cat of the Day to you, Daniel! We're almost neighbors, (we're in Marshalls Creeks) and know so well how harsh our northern PA winters can be! In true "orange" spirit, you are a fighter and survivor of the highest order, sweetheart. And your story of triumph over near tragedy brought tears to my eyes! My orange boy Tiggr was a rescue like you. And while he had his fair share of health challenges to overcome once he found us, they were nowhere on the order of challenges you faced, sweetheart! A miracle kitty is what you are! And your family's devotion, and your indomitable spirit and will to live, are nothing short of inspirational! Nothng can keep you from living and loving life to its fullest, right Daniel?:) Coincidentally, my boy Tiggr was recently diagnosed with Rhino. But after some aggressive treatment, he is now doing well on daily doses of lysine just as you are, although unlike you, he'd eat the entire bag in one sitting if I let him!:D It truly was an honor to meet you today sweetheart, and learn of your amazing life story, and happy ever after ending! I hope you and your wonderful family are all enjoying a very happy day of celebration, with many more shared years of love and companionship to come! Love and cuddles to you precious Daniel, our extra special and most deserving, Sunday honoree!:love::love:

Daniel,
Congrats on being COTD. What a handsome orangeman you are, and despite your rough start in life and your disability you managed to win the hearts of everyone and find a great home where you will be treated like a King for as long as you live. Orange Kitties seem to have the best dispositions, I have two that are total sweethearts and couldn't imagine life w/o them. Sending lots of love to you, Daniel!!

Precious orangie Daniel! You are so very handsome! I hope you have a wonderful, special day as the Cat of the Day today and a full, joyful, happy life. I hope lvpets2002 gets to read about you because your story reminded me a little of her sweet boy Bogart, who is also visually impaired.

Yes, you are so handsome, Daniel. How wonderfully lucky that you found such a good home with loving parents. My vet suggested lysine for my Buddy who seems to get recurring rhino. The lysine I was able to purchase in the 500 mg size were HUGE. After a few tries hole, cut in half, I just gave up. It's encouraging to know Daniel takes his in peach yogurt. I would be very interested to know what dose and in what form you put it in the yogurt, and tatsxxx11 what would Tigrr eat all of the bag if he had the chance? I really don't mind starting him on a lysine regimen if I can make it palatable. After my Kinsey had her radioactive iodine treatment (for hyperthyroidism) and had to take heart medication, really tiny (quartered pills), the vet tech said she used turkey babyfood (has the consistency of still mashed potatoes) and Kinsey just lapped it right up. I would like to know if there is another form of lysine besides those big horse pills.
