Prayers for Karno please?

My baby isn't well at all :( I went to clean him out, and I tried to get him out of bed and he was just lying there... he moved when I picked him up, but still wouldn't open his eyes... he opened them after about 10 mins but he was very cold, and then we put him back in his cage with extra bedding and it looked like he was having trouble walking (though he looks a bit better with that now).... and then he has been washing and scratching pretty much ever since :(

I can't take him to the vets due to the snow and ice... :(

And then some guy just told me on MSN to get another hamster.... because he is only a hamster.... :mad: I told him to get lost (well, not quite as politely as that) and blocked him :( People like that really don't help in these situations :mad::(

Please send my boy some good thoughts and prayers :(:love:

Is he still cold? Maybe you could put a heating pad under his cage or place a hot water bottle in with him to help keep him warm.

I don't know... I am trying to let him relax and get some rest for tonight.... just in case it has anything to do with shock and then stress from the shock.... it could be an allergy but I am not sure. I really want to get him to the vet... so worried for my sweet boy :(

Yeah, I thought of that thanks, but I read somewhere that when they are cold it is not a good idea to put them near radiators or fires etc (assuming so they don't heat up too fast... rapid change of conditions probs isn't great for them), and just to warm up the room a bit, so thats what I am trying to do.

He is drinking at the moment and is up so that is something I guess....

Thinking of you and wee Karno, hoping he's feeling better, or that you can get him to the vets. Would a warm water bottle in one corner of the cage be safe, so he could choose whether to be bear it or not?

Thanks for all the good thoughts... they seem to have worked, because he seems fine now.... I don't know what was wrong but after a day or two he seemed ok.. :)

Ellie, I am so glad you updated because I missed this first time through! Karno, did you get a "hammie cold?" Glad it is over with now.
