Subject: temporary foster needed for 2 dogs and a cat
I am trying very hard to help my neighbor find temporary homes for her 2 sweet dogs and cat. Here's the short version: family moved here 1 year ago for husband to take new job. At that time, wife decided to be a stay-at-home mom for their 7th grader. Husband lost his job 4 weeks ago. They sold their house four weeks ago (which had been on the market for many months). Now there is no household income and they are homeless as of Dec. 27 because the new family is moving into their home.
These are hardworking, educated people who are actively looking for work. I'm confident one of them can find something soon. Their pets are super and are a good fit for this family (and vice versa). The fear is that come Dec. 27, the family and the pets will have no where to live. They are hoping to find a temporary spot for the pets with the hope that they can all live together again very soon once they've established housing/job. My husband and I have considered taking them in but don't think that our females would be agreeable to another female in the household.
I've spent a good bit of time with the dogs.....both are very friendly, good with other dogs, live with a cat (although will chase), and have lived with children 10 +. They are both fixed, housetrained, cratetrained, up-to-date. The female (3-4 y.o.) is a 65 pound blond shepherd mix and the male (2-3 y.o.) is a 45 pound black lab mix. They love to play, romp, and cuddle. These folks take their pets everywhere: having to give them up to a shelter would be devastating. And I am very worried that this could happen. I'm convinced there has to be a way for these pets to stay out of the shelter so that they can return to their family soon.
I would have to find out more info on the cat, as I know a lot less about him.
I'm reaching out for ideas. Do you know of someone who would be willing to foster one of these animals for a few weeks, a month, 2 months? I can offer as much support as possible and food/crates/supplies would be provided.
Thanks in advance,
Kim

There are 45 cats and dogs for every person born. Only 1 out of 10 dogs born ever get a home.
Only 1 out of 12 cats born ever find a home.
800 dogs & cats are KILLED each HOUR in the U.S, because there are not enough homes for them.
Opt to adopt. Don't buy from a pet store!
AND PLEASE SPAY AND NEUTER
