Can anyone help this dog? This gorgeous dog is in the Atlanta area and only
has until the 16th. If the shelter's not contacted with a "definite
adoption" *prior* to Wednesday, October 16th, this dog will be PTS. Here's
the shelter's listing with a photo. If for some reason the photo and info
doesn't come through, please visit their "dogs for adoption page" and see
the 2nd or 3rd page of dogs and you'll see "DAG" and his ID# is A02-2824.
Here's the ad:

Nicole, maybe you can e-mail all the Aussie and all breed rescues in the area and alert them to Dag's plight. Also spread out the e-mails to further areas. The rescue I got to accept Corrine was 2 1/2 hours away from the shelter that she was at. Good luck. Make sure you tell them his due out date is the 16th.

is that right????thats' barely a chance if they were lost.....
i thought that there were laws about this....i guess when it comes to animals, unfortunately, people can do what they want....

So many owner surrender animals    .

Spalding is very short on their holding time. Some places only give owner surrenders a day or two, then they are put down. If they say that is their due out day, they mean it. A few dogs have been lost because the bb rescuers were not fast enough. It is horrible. The bb and rescues monitor Spalding constantly. Some beautiful dogs have been saved from Spalding, though!! Good luck. E-mail those shelters (a list can be found on Petfinder.org, look at rescues and shelters and put in the state. Make sure you are not e-mailing other kill shelters, though) I hope you can help Dag.

Hi,

Thanks for your concern for Dag. From this distance there isn't much we can
do on such short notice, but there are things people closer can do.

Assuming the dog has no serious behavior problems, someone could get him out
of the shelter and foster him long enough to find him a home. The first
thing I wonder is whether anyone has contacted breed rescue since the dog is
pure? They can be reached on the following website:
http://www.akc.org/breeds/rescue.cfm

If someone is able to buy some time, putting ads in the paper and working up
flyers would be the next thing to consider. Here is a booklet that might
help: "How to Find Homes for Homeless Pets," which you can download from
our web site at
http://www.bestfriends.org/nmhp/resources/nmhp-pdfs.htm. This booklet gives
very specific instructions on how to word ads and screen potential adopters.
If you have any trouble downloading the guide, please write back with a
mailing address, and I will send you a copy.

All of these suggestions are based on this dog being an adoptable dog so the
first thing is to find that out. I wish I had more to offer. good luck and
feel free to get back to me if you have other questions.

Sincerely,
