I was looking at litter box scoopers the other day and wishing someone made metal ones that would clean up better and be more durable than the plastic.. Does anyone know if they make them and if they do, where they sell them?

Have you ever thought about using a big slotted spoon, like you would find in the baking/cooking utensil section of the stores? I've used one of those for years.

At work we use a metal scoop from a Fry Daddy. The metal is easier to clean and sterilize than plastic and much more durable.

This looks rather like a kitchen utensil to me:

Elyse beat me to it!! Laura you're a cook, that was the first utensil I thought of. Who says ya need something made for scooping cat litter??? Improvisation is the key!;)

I don't have a fry Daddy at home, have never owned one. We have several on the boat but I am not about to snatch one of those but but they look rather flimsy to me for scooping litter boxes and I want one that has flat edges that can scrape the bottom of the box.

I used a metal scoop for years that I bought at Pet Supplies Plus. I don't know why I stopped using it and went to plastic. Maybe it got lost in the move or something. It's more sanitary than plastic and now that you've raised the subject, next trip to PSP, I'll buy another.

I used this thing in metal FOREVER with my first two kitties! I don't even remember what happened to it, but it works just fine. They were probably sold at a "5 and dime" years ago...I'm talking 25 years or so...

There's an awesome one at Petsmart with a rubber handle. I will by one the next time a plastic one breaks.
