... I confess I do not.

Once a week, use hot water to wash anything the cat touches regularly and dry these items in a dryer, as well. Note whether the beds you buy have zip-off covers so that you can easily strip them off and give them a hot washing.

Washing also applies to areas without zip-off covers – if you can’t remove the cover, keep a big towel or blanket covering the area where the cat spends most of his time hanging out and wash that cover at least once a week.

Just curious.

You have got to be kidding! I consider myself pretty clean, and my husband is allergic to cats (he takes shots), but I would NEVER follow that routine!

Actually, I do all that but one of my cats got MRSA anyhow, so go figure. I put micro fibre blankets on their beds and anywhere on the furniture that they like to sleep. I just take them all once a week, toss them in the washer and dryer, end of story. No biggie. The blankets, that is, not the kitties. ;)

I used to routinely wash beds and blankets every weekend. I have gotten lazy and do not do it every week. Is this something to be done to protect the cats or humans?

I try to do the bedding every week, but my schedule is crazy so sometimes it doesn't get done. Clothes, yep, every week. Bedding? No.

Sorry, I missed that. :o I guess it means it's fine that everyone doesn't follow that routine.
