Good Morning, D'Artagnan!! Aren't you ADORABLE!! What sweet brown eyes; and that turned up nose!! Awww! We've met several cutie hedgies here on Pet Talk. But you're the first I've come to know is a Brown Snowflake!!:) I was so happy to learn that you are a rescue. I'm sure many hediges wind up in homes, that while well meaning, are not prepared to care for such unique critters. It's great to know that fellows such as yourself are being fostered until just the right forever family comes along! And I think you've found yours!! How lucky they are to have such a sweet, gentle, cuddly hedgie to love and cherish! I hope you get to take a stroll around the neighborhood today, spreading the good news to all your pals...You're the Pet of the Day! Congratulations cutie pie!! You're SO sweet!!

D'Artagnan and I just wanted to thank everyone for their congratulations and kind words! We have been offline for awhile and our email address changed so we didn't know he was pet of the day until now.

D'Artangan (D as I call him) is a very precious hedgie! On 10/4 I found out that he is actually older than we thought he was...his previous owner emailed me and told me that he had actually just turned 3 on 10/3 but she had told the rescuer he was 1 1/2 years old. He's a very soft spoken hedgie...never huffs and puffs and loves to nap on my stomach. He's very tame...in his previous home he had an exciting life which got him used to people. He was born in Colorado (we live in Ohio) and has been to 3 colleges so he's an educated hedgie!

He shares our home with 5 other hedgies.....

Our 1st 2 girls (Tiggy-who is and Algerian Chocolate & will be 1 in Dec. & Winkle-who is a Pale Apricot White & will be 1 in Nov.) were adopted in June from a friend of mine. In August D'Artagnan (who was an only hedgie in his 1st home), Porthos (an Algerian Chocolate) & Glori-Rose (an Algerian Choc. Chip) were adopted from a hedgehog rescue. Porthos and Glori are brother & sister who were born in May. And then in Sept. our last addition (for now) joined our family...a wee little Albino girl who we named Gwenyver Fiona (Gweny-Fi...said Gwenna-Fee...for short). She was adopted from the same friend who we adopted Tiggy and Winkle from and she was born in April.

We are very strong believers in rescuing/adopting animals...we have 2 rescued (in 11/00 & 11/01) Black Labs, 1 adopted (in June)Beagle/?, 38 rescued/adopted (between 4/01-6/02)/never bred here guinea pigs and the hedgies who were all adopted plus 2 water turtles and their catfish maid who are the only 3 of the 50 animals who live here who were not adopted/rescued. ALL of our animals are inside...and are very spoiled. It's a very full house when you add myself, my husband and our 4 sons who are 16, 14, 12 and 10 but we wouldn't have it any other way. And...if another hedgie needs a home...the door is wide open, along with our hearts.

Again.....D'Artangna and I thank you all!
