Squeak's Mom
11-01-2009, 06:30 PM
My 7 year old Squeak (Zoe) died last night at the dr's office. She'd been fighting some unknown illness for over a week. I went and sat with her every day after work. She wouldn't let me hold her until yesterday, she actually crawled into my arms. I got to hold her for an hour and a half before the dr wanted to put a feeding tube in so she wouldn't have liver issues. I started crying because I was so happy to hold her.

At 8pm the phone rang and I knew before I answered it. My vet was so kind.

Today I went through all of my photos and wrote down all the things I remember.

I've had many cats before and I've loved them dearly but my Squeak needed me, she wouldn't go to anyone except me and I think I thrived on that. She followed me everywhere when I moved in the house. She'd lay at my feet on her back and bend her front paws and say Look how cute I am Mom. She slept by my head every night and let me cuddle her.

I don't know how to cope with this right now. I know she is in a better place and she has no pain, I just never imagined her leaving so soon.

I don't know what to do. I don't want her to be gone.

Hi Kris -

I am sorry this has to be your first post. but we here on PT understand the loss of a pet. And it sounds like Squeak was your heart kitty, as well.

Hold on to those memories, she lives on in your heart and your memories. Looking at the photos was great. Do you have a scanner? Or are they on your computer? Would love to see your dear one.

RIP Squeak.

Squeak is gone, but she is also still present. She is in your heart forever, and now you have shared her with us as well. I am sure you will see her again one fine day, happy and whole, at The Rainbow Bridge.

I'm so sorry to hear that beautiful Squeak has been separated from you.
But it's not forever. Souls like yours are bound together through worlds and all time.

You'll see her again, One Fine Day.

Godspeed, Squeak

It's heartbreaking to lose a furchild but at such a young age it hurts even more. Squeak was a beautiful girl and no doubt you'll miss her for some time to come but try to hold on to your memories so that you'll smile when you think of her instead of cry. It's those good memories that will get you through when you miss her sweet face. RIP, pretty Squeak and peace to your mom.

Squeak's Mom,

I am SO sorry for your loss. Squeak was a beautiful little girl who adored you and the relationship you shared. I have 5 furkids and a special, unique bond with each and every one of them. I recently lost Mollie Rose, who was my very first cat. I was inconsolable for weeks. The pain is still there and I will never have another cat like my Rosie. But I now know she's in a much better place.

RIP sweet Squeak. You were loved and will be sorely missed.

:love::love::love: and hugs

This picture is precious. Squeek sounds and looks like a very special cat. I am so sorry for your loss! This is a good forum for you to process your grief. Everyone here can relate as we have all lost pets at some point in time. We all still choose to love our animals for as long as we can knowing that their lives, unfortunately, are usually so much shorter than ours. It is painful but the love we get and get to give makes it all worth it. I'm sure Squeek had a great life with you and that is truly a gift you gave to her.

Heh, we got a card from the Vet's Office today and it made me think about coming here.. saw your post, and this.

I'm sorry you too had to lose your kitty. It isn't easy letting go, but with time it gets better.. Reading this though made me sad. Hehe, very cute cat though indeed..

Squeak and Bear should get along just fine, the litter he was born out of (was the runt :P, ended up being the largest cat of them all it seemed..) was filled with little kitties that looked exactly like your Squeak. So it'll be nice for him to see a familiar looking kitty like his brothers and sister of before. :)

RIP Squeak

I am so sorry to read about Squeak. She was a beautiful kitty. I recently lost my heart kitty as well (July 2nd) and just the other night I began to cry and couldn't stop for almost an hour. Just typing this, knowing the pain you are experiencing, is making tears come to my eyes again. Other Pet Talk members say it gets easier, and I believe it will. Our dear kitties will never be forgotten.

RIP Dear Squeak

The loss of a dear pet comes with a pain like no other. So many of us have suffered this loss on Pet Talk, so you will have very understanding and caring responses from us.

I am so sorry you have lost Squeak. As hard as it is - it just takes some time and the pain eases and the wonderful memories replace the pain.

I am sure all Pet Talkers join me in sending you some gentle hugs.

This website has been a blessing. Thank you all for being so kind with your words.

I still can't believe she is gone though. I know it, but I don't believe it. I love her so much.

I need to know what you do to go through your grief, I'm so sad.

Unfortunately there is no magic cure. Time does help though. I had to have the love of my life, Morgan, put to sleep four weeks ago today. I still have tears, although I think I may have had a day or possibly two this last week where I was only sad and didn't cry. Time is all I can offer you. I promise it does help. We don't forget them. And we still miss them, but that searing pain does lessen with time. As the days go by, you will find it will be easier to talk about your dear one with out crying so much. And then sometime out of the blue, the tears will fall. Just remember that she will always be part of you. I am very sorry for your loss.

Each of us may have a different response for you. I think the best thing for you on an immediate basis is to just give in to your sadness and tears.
Sob if you need to - it truly is what you are feeling.

So many things will remind you of your baby girl that the tears will just flow. But there comes a point when you are all cried out. It doesn't mean you care any less - it is just that you are coming to terms with your huge loss.

Moesha is right - that searing pain (and it is that) will lessen but it simply takes time. But she will always be your little love and your heart will be full just thinking of her - but it will be with more love than pain.

I think what is so difficult for you in particular is that your little baby was very young.

Again, my heart goes out to you. I have been where you are and it just isn't easy.

My heart kitty Oscar is on my pillow every morning, snuggled up to me like I am just a big cat, and even grooming my nose and forehead (OUCH! Oscar, I don't have fur on my nose and face! :) )

I can see Squeak had that same bond with you...I can only begin to imagine what a huge hole that has left in your life and heart.

When my sister was in her early teens, she had a grey tabby named Squeak. Your beautiful girl reminds me so much of her.
