I have two new kittens, Cali (all black) and Tuck (a grey tabby). Both are 4 months old and slightly adorable (LOL). Anyhow, Tuck got fixed 2 days ago, and returned to us yesterday morning. Cali is acting SO weird towards Tuck! Still- 24 hours later!!
Is this normal? I have 7 other cats, and can't recall this long of a period of time. Everyone else is 'over it'. Not Cali. And, Cali and Tuck were thick as thieves before this.
We've had it go on for over a month.

Did Cali go to the vet too for any kind of checkup?
The reason I ask is that whenever one of ours comes back from the White Coats, they are hissed at and ostracized by the others until whatever "contamination" the vet put on them wears off.
Willow will actually trap the offender and hold them down and lick them within an inch of their lives to get the White Coat Stink off of them. :D

I have had that with Pouncer and Mr Scrappy where a return from the Vet would make them think that I had snuck a ringer , a different Cat in on them.
Actually if you give Tuck extra pets, your scent will overtake the Vet Smell and Tuck and Cali will be Friends agin very soon.

Oh, Gill! I sure hope that doesn't repeat in our house!!! I haven't ever had it go on for more than a couple of hours. The other cats were pretty fine within hours.
No, Cali stayed home. She is fine with everyone else, just not her little buddy, Tuck. Which probably isn't all bad since Tuck is recovering still from the surgery.
I didn't think about the petting and transferring to Tuck of my scent. I will pet him tons and tons tonight when I get home.
Thanks, guys!

When Edwina is upset with Eddie (he has been to the vet, she has been to vet or a non-resident animal was nearby) she can stay angry with him for two or three days!
I feel so sorry for him because he goes to her and apologizes again and again...but she seems to feel he must have his "timeout!"

With 8 cats, I am always feeling bad about someone. I think with Tuck it is especially so. He is so sweet and loveable. Not that Cali isn't, she is! But, she is so 'in your face' about everything. Whereas, Tuck needs a little more encouragement.

It's the dreaded vet cooties!:D
It's the dreaded vet cooties!:D
So true! To this day if I only take one, the other smells it and violently wants nothing to do with the other. The smell represents something they clearly don't like.

Maybe that was part of Spunky's and Sam's rejection of LJ when she came back from the 2 day visit to the vet. Vet cooties? That's a new one for me and I like it.

This is normal behavior that will usually last just a few days. I also have a some what unique problem. My Storm will hiss at everyone if one of the others have been to the vet but if he's been to the vet then he'll also hiss at everyone when he gets home. All of my other cats seem to accept the other cat when they return home from the vets unless they've been there for at least a day or more. Good luck.:)

I have two new kittens, Cali (all black) and Tuck (a grey tabby).
This has nothing to do with the issue at hand, and I know I've been away for awhile, but does no one have a question about the above statement? OK, ok, the all black I can see, but.....grey tabby....in a house full of tuxies? Maybe Cali has figured out that "one of these things is not like the others" and she is copping an attitude about it! ;):D
Sorry I couldn't be of more help, Johanna, but I just had to give you some grief about a grey tabby......hmmmm....still can't wrap my brain around that image.....;):D
