There was another disturbing story on tonight's news. A woman in Philadelphia went into her yard and found a cat duct taped from her neck down. She immediately called for help and kitty was taken to a veterinary hospital. The duct tape was so tight this poor kitty couldn't walk. She had to be put under anesthesia to remove the tape. Word is she's doing okay. Right now she's in intensive care. The veterinary staff are completely taken with her and named her Sticky. The vet says she's 1-2 years old and they think she's someone's pet.
Gary, Do you think the Angels would go to her so Sticky won't be scared and all alone?
Please join me in prayers for Sticky's quick and complete recovery.

I saw that on the news tonight. She looked like such a sweet cat! She was head-bumping the rescue people and just so happy to be petted.

Sometimes I feel that the medieval ideas of hell where devils did things like this to the sinners has a point.

It's so awful to see how horrible things can a "human" do.. it makes me sad and angry
But I know there's a God watching and He's gonna make justice, especially in favor of all defenseless creatures like Sticky.
My prayers are with her and with the people who rescued her, God bless them all!! :)

Sticky was on the news again tonight and fortunately the update is good. She's still in the veterinary hospital and she's said to be making good progress. The report said several people have come forward claiming to be her owner but there's nothing more about that.
There are no suspects yet but the police are keeping everything found at the site where she was found as well as the duct tape as potential evidence.
I'm praying that Sticky's owners are not involved with this despicable act of cruelty. When she is released from the hospital my hope is that she goes to a loving, caring home where she will be safe.

I think I've been watching too many crime-solving shows. I immediately wondered if the vet techs used gloves when they cut the tape off so that some lab could get fingerprints off the tape.
Probably some disturbed children who don't have records -- yet.
Of course I feel compassion for Sticky, but if this is the work of children, it makes me wonder what awful things have happened to them that they would do this.
Momcat ~ Saw your update after I posted. I'm glad the police saved all the evidence.

This story has a happy ending. Sticky is just fine. I do hope they dust the duct tape for fingerprints.

PHILADELPHIA — The Pennsylvania SPCA says a teenager has been charged in connection with a duct-taped cat.

The tabby cat was found last Tuesday in the backyard of a home in North Philadelphia.
The SPCA says the cat had been wrapped in tape up to its head and had to be anesthetized and undergo a lengthy process to remove all the tape.
The cat, affectionately named "Sticky" by animal welfare workers, is doing fine.
Police were expected to release further details about the arrest on Monday.
The suspect could face up to 90 days in jail if found guilty and fined up to $750.

I could only even bear to read a little of this when I read that Sticky came out of this all right, physically anyway. I lit him a candle to help heal the rest of him: http://www.gratefulness.org/candles/message.cfm?l=eng&cid=9255474
I cannot find words (or at least words that would be allowed on a public forum) to say what I think of his abuser and what should happen to him or her.

According to today's Philadelphia Enquirer, the Pennsylvania SPCA arrested 19year old James Davis for duct taping Sticky. He reportedly "impulsively" duct taped Sticky after seeing her in his parents' yard. He tossed her into the other yard after listening to her scream for a few hours. Sticky was found some 12 hours later dehydrated but not seriously injured. This creepazoid could be court ordered to psychiatric evaluation as part of his sentencing.
Meanwhile, several people have come forward claiming ownership of Sticky but so far none of the claims have been proven. About 100 adoption requests have been received and are being reviewed in the order in which they were received.
A vet staff member said Sticky was purring before being sedated so the tape could be removed.
Don't worry sweet Sticky, you're going to be fine. May you find your purrfect furever home where you'll always be loved and safe. And you might want to consider staying inside from now on

Great news, PT friends.....Sticky has been adopted!!!!! From the news clip, she looks happy and was having a super time checking out her new home and snuggling with her new purrents. The family who adopted her have asked that their names and location not be released.
Concatulations on your new furever home, Sticky! I wish you many years of love, care, and happiness with your new family! Now please stay inside, Sweetie
