Zeke knows now he's suppost to do his 'thing' outside. He does for the most part, but he still goes on the floor...er..carpet, but when hes in the kitchen for the night, he uses his papers..I never catch him doing it..and I want him to not have to be locked in the kitchen at night ASAP..I think he knows not to but does anyway..I can't figure out a way to prevent this???

I know it's a pain in the butt (no pun intended), but in training Malone we consistently got up EVERY morning around 2, and very gradually weaned him later and later until it was all night. It's not very fun to crawl out of your very warm bed to walk circles out in the freezing cold grass! But it served several purposes--he learned that he could hold it a few hours, and it also re-enforced the concept that he goes OUTSIDE. Now he sleeps thru the night, and when he REALLY has to go he wakes us up with his whining.

Is Zeke crate trained?? That helps a lot also because they don't want to "go" in their sleeping place. Hope this helps a little! :)

I think its pretty much out of the question to get up at 2. I have school, and it takes me a while to fall back to sleep..I find I'm tired as it is :[ Zeke isn't crate trained, but sleeps in the kitchen (it's closed off) and he knows to use his papers. He also knows to pee outside. If I let him out on his own, he'll go down and pee..it's just for some reason he won't hold it..whats the typical age for a new dog to be house trained? I just got him like 2 weeks ago..
