We have found that the dry food our two one year old kitties have been eating has been making them FAT !! So we will now have to change their diet to a wet food with fewers carbs. I think Kitty #1 will eventually change because she ate wet for the first 6 months. But, Kitty # 2 turns her nose up at wet and has never eaten anything but dry.
Does anyone have any suggestions about making the change? We've been reading on line about different ways to influence them. And I'm just assuming that nature will take over at some point and if they're hungry they'll eat.

You could try a variety of different kinds of wet food, see if there's one they find tempting. You're right, they'll get hungry eventually! And if they're overweight already, you've got a little time.

You could put just a small serving of dry in one bowl, diminishing every day, and the bowl of wet food next to it.

Another thing I've done is to sprinkle "Kitty Kaviar" fish flakes on top of the wet food. Not many cats can resist it!

Good luck - please keep us posted.

Before you switch from dry cat food to wet, have you looked into a dry cat food with fewer fills, starches, carbs? There are dry foods out there that fit the requirement of higher protein.

Please be careful with reducing calories/losing weight with these guys. Fatty liver disease can be fatal, and occurs with too quick reduction in weight.

Increase exercise And yet different foods and feeding schedules. Good luck!
