I took Patches to the new eye vet today, was going to also take Emma, but it was time to leave and I couldn't catch her! anyway, all their eyes are better, Patches' looks the best I have ever seen them look, of course, on the day of the vet visit!
the new vet (shes there 4 days a week instead of 1) said to leave the others off their meds as long as they are doing ok, and said to continue with the same meds, plus some new ones. so things are going much easier here now! he is on 3 oral meds, I crush them into his canned food, one is the one he was taking already,an antibiotic, and the other 2 are, one is an antiviral, and the last one is L-lysine, an amino acid supplement that I bought at the store. then he is still on the antiviral eye drops, and now also betadine drops. both drops are 4 x a day, but it is easy to give him meds! the amount of time to be on these varies.
so I feel better now that he is on antibiotic AND antviral meds together. here's hoping!
had some bad news today though, my brother has a bad liver,
and it is not from drinking, the dr said it can happen without being caused by that.anyway, the dr told him to get his name on the transplant list, it may not come to that, but to get it started in case...I think I better start going to church or something...I am wondering if my family is cursed, since my dad was on the list for a heart transplant. the odds of this, I have another brother also with a bad liver from a blood transfusion he got in the early 70's, whenhe was in an accident. he has hepatitis c.
this has to sound unbelievable, I just can't believe all this, is this a soap or something? anyway, I know this is for pettalk, so sorry I brought all this up.

Don't be sorry when you need to get disturbing things off your chest. You are very supportive of the rest of us, so let us support you a little bit too. :) I'm so sorry to hear about your brother's news. We will definitely add him to our prayer list and you too.

I'm so glad to hear that the kitties are better though. Sounds like you really found a good specialist who knew just what to do. Hugs to the kitties, and one for yourself while you're at it.

Toughcookie, so sorry to hear about your family members. Yet your furkids are doing much better. We all have gone through rought times, and you will find supportive people here on Pet Talk, whether the interest is on pets or family members. What amazes me is the prayer that heals that is read on many of the posts here. My Kitten is much better, and gaining strength every day. She didn't begin to heal until we had prayed for her. My original post concerning her was a reflection of the vets' diagnosis, that she will probably not last the week-end. But she as proved all of us wrong. You can always PM me on such matters, and I will alway to be glad to reply.

ToughCookie, I read or heard this some place, and it seems kinda appropriate now with your brother...when you can't do anything else for someone, you can always pray for them. I will add him to my list...what is his name?

BTW- Last I checked, church wasn't the only place to pray...;)

I hope your furkids continue in their path to good health.

SO sorry about your good news/bad news situation. Yeah for the kitties and I'll be thinking of your family. Are they in Tucson too? That is such a great hospital there with the university.

thanks for all the support. theres so many wonderful people here on pettalk!

one brother's first name is Frank, the other is Steve
I have a brother in Tucson, but the sick ones don't live here.
(I have 4 brothers total!)

I am glad that the cats are doing so well, I was so worried and have been upset that they've been sick, but then I have seen some real sick animals at the vets. cancer etc. it made the cats problems seem alot less!! one cat, had leukemia(sp?) after getting a vaccination that wasn't good, and it actually GAVE the cat the disease! the cats owners are suing the company that made the shot...but how awful for them, thinking they are doing what is necessary for the cats health then that happens!:( :(

thanks again for all your nice posts:)

Mary,

So glad the kitties are doing better. I'm really sorry to hear about your brother's problem. I hope and pray that he finds a donor soon. Hang in there!

BTW, I had my cats on Grapefruit Seed Extract for a while (I would put it in their wet food) and it seemed to help with their sneezing and wheezing problems. I have stopped doing that and they problems came back. So I might just start up again and see what happens. It's an herbal supplement (liquid, very bitter) that is knocks out whatever bacteria is causing the problem. I swear by it. Just wanted to let you know.

Donna, thanks, I might try that...

my brother needs to have a liver biopsy, then he will know how bad it is, I'm hoping that he will not need a transplant! but the dr did say to get his name on the list because it takes so long.
