...getting squished and spraying your car from stem to stern.

O_o

Mother Frakker. :mad:

Hit it a mere 5 minutes after leaving work last night so THATwas a car ride that was torture to endure. Drove the rest of the way home with the windows down but I think that made the smell even worse. :\

When I got home, Andy helped me Febreeze down the seats. I sprayed Air Deodorizer and left an Air Freshner in the car.

Andy suggested leaving the windows cracked, but rain was fore casted and I did not want a wet and smelly car.

Checked on the car this morning and the stench knocks you on your ass a mere 10 feet from the car. I braved a whiff inside and it smelled a little of Skunk mixed with Berry. :rolleyes:

It was breezy and from the looks of the clouds, rain seemed imminent, but I risked it and rolled the windows down and opened the sun roof. I think that helped air it out.

By the time I left for work, the smell inside was more Berry than Skunk, but the second the car is started, the skunk smell became strong again. So I shut off the air and drove to work with the windows down.

Andy thinks there might be skunk "pieces" stuck under the car. Joy.

I plan to take it to the car wash tomorrow. Hopefully that'll help.

The smell is stuck in my nose! :(

Yeesh.

Yup, you need a good "undercarriage wash" - my sympathies.

Maybe the skunks in Mexico are not as pungent as the ones this far North? Really, it can make your eyes water, and breathing difficult ... and the only priority is getting away, far away.

I'm one of those people who likes that smell, too, as long as it's at a distance. Then it smells like coffee to me. (I know, note to self: never accept an invitation for coffee at Mary's house). If a skunk sprays near the house, though, it's awful, so I can only imagine what your car must smell like. Can't wash the entire car in tomato juice! ;)

Yeah, my eyes watered, burned, and the smell just made me nauseuous. Bleah!

I'm not sure if the paint job would like tomato juice! LOL!

I'm sorry for your dilemma.

But, am I the only one more sorry for the poor skunk?

Don't get me wrong, I do feel bad for the skunk. I hate hurting animals. :(

I was on the highway and he just appeared out of nowhere and swerving just wasn't an option. :(

I said a prayer for the little stinky guy.

Ewwwww!!!!

Okay, I actually like the smell of a skunk if it is in the air when I am passing by in the car. It smells like lemon juice to me. My kids think I am crazy. However, when Casey got sprayed by a skunk it smellled completely different. Not sure why but it was awful.

Also, as much of an animal lover as I am too, never swerve to miss an animal on the road. Your life is more precious than theirs!

Mark says a guy he works with had the same thing happen. He called his insurance and they took care of it (I guess he had to take it to someone who cleans up after people die)

Have you tried putting a dish of ammonia in the car? Our dogs got sprayed once, and hubby put them in the car, and then realized they had been skunked. Ammonia did help. Sounds like yours might be in worse shape, though.

Isn't tomato juice suppose to help neutralize the odor?

I was on the highway and he just appeared out of nowhere
and swerving just wasn't an option. :(

Years ago, the FurrMutts and I were motoring along (prolly 'a bit' too quickly
over one of our local rural and pot-hole marked imitation roads ... and
as we crested a littlle blind rise in the boulevard ...

O.M.G. ... :eek:
Sun - uvvaa - Bbbbbbbbbb ...!!!
I jammed on the brakes ... the Protectives began ***YAPPIN*** like
the world was ending ...

"Geeeeeze, Dad --- Ya *SMOOSHED* da whole FAMBILY!
Ya wiped 'em out ... no survivors ... Kat Gutz ebberywhere!
How kuld ya?"

By now we'd laid rubber for 50 feet, and were stoped at a jaunty angle
which allowed the ditch to appear in the right mirror.
And contrary to earlier shouted reports ... the were NO fatalities - nor even
a squished tail, among the considerable mob af SKUNQUES we'd just dodged.
However,
MOM Skunque was NOT impressed with our skillful avoidance of her little
Army of Stinkers;
and promptly called her Troop to formation for a retallitory first strike.

:eek:
I didn't get an accurate count; but I'd estimate she had at least a dozen
lil Gunners in formation facing the ditch, B&W Tails raised in unison ...

Uhhhhht-Ohhhhhhh ...
There was a >gasp< from the back seat ...
Daaaaaaad ... we better get OUTTA Here - NOW!
Y'know, they might not be KATs ...

Yup .. they weren't KATz, that was fur sure! :eek:

They might have been young enough to stick with Mom,
but they were well-versed in the ancient art of STINK-Gunning the opposition ...

We'd come to a stop right beside their safe spot beside the ditch ...
all she had to do was give the commands:
* Troop, Ten-SHUN!
* Taills UP
* Ready, Aim,
* FIRE *

The STENCH was dreadfull ...

Four Quarters at the coin-op on only the right side ...
you'd never know we were there! :(

The poor bus sat outside in a distant corner of the driveway for a week -
and it still stunk in the house!

We turned heads (and NOSES) everywhere we went for almost a month.

:rolleyes:

My friend hit a skunk and her car smelled for a week. We sprayed some type of ozone spray in it and that really helped neutralize the odor.

I ran over a dead skunk once when Zoee was in the car with me (almost a year after she'd been skunked herself) and the look on her face was like - uh oh, here we go again. I had to explain to her that it wasn't her and she was fine. I left my car at my brothers for the weekend or a few days and he said he'd walk outside near the car and could smell it. It was fine by the time I had to get back in it, thank goodness.

Look for a car air freshener with ozone or something in it. I can't remember the name of it, darn it. But it will probably smell until it wears off the under carriage of the car. Bummer.

I had never smelled FRESH skunk until Zoee got it in her face. It did make me gag so I know how bad it must have been IN the car.
