Awww, Angel ... you listen to your big brother Chester, he's just trying to look out for you!! Try and feel better, sweetie, I think Mom's going to have a treat for you (baby food for sick kitties is a really good idea) later. If you eat it you'll feel better! :) Happy New Year to you and the rest of the family!

I'm glad she's on the mend - any idea what the heck she got into to make her so sick?

The vet said it was a virus, nothing she ate. She is doing so good today. No barfies since early yesterday morning. She is back to playing and running amuck. It was so great to have her "help" when I put the groceries away again!!! :D
She is having a nap with mommy, Winnie, right now. :D

Oh MOFF, this truly is my heart's delight. I'm so glad that she is almost back to her normal self. Please plant a kissie on that sweet forehead for me.
PS: Sorry I didn't have a chance to see my Wed pic until I got home last night, than I had a workout, came upstairs and promptly fell asleep. :o

... in my kitchen!!!
I just went into the kitchen and there was a mountain of kitty litter piled up under a window.
Seems Miss Angel and her accomplace Mom, opened one of the spare bags of kitty litter and were playing in it. All they needed was a beach ball and umbrella!!! I couldn't help but laugh.
Yep, things are back to normal! :D:D:D
(oh, Winnie not only hissed at Angel when she came back from the vet, she would beat up on her. I'm so glad she is over that!!!)

They were quiet New Year's day. Probably sleeping off the late night we had. I was a bit concerned about Angel but she didn't seem to have a fever and was alert. I was hoping her med was just kicking in.
It must have been because she and Winnie are zooming around here like a pair of loons this morning. They say thanks for thinking of them. Grandma and Chester wave at you too!

I've been away over NYE and only read about Angel- I am so glad she's herself again:D
I have been away over the holidays so I just now read back several pages and my heart was in my mouth! What a huge scare for you (and all of us).
Thanks goodness Angel is back to normal. And what does she do? She creates a beach and has a party!
Do we love this baby girl or what?
MOFF, I hope you can rest easy now - a virus - goodness where does this stuff come from?
Please give your girls and boy big kisses from me........and a hug for you.

Winnie seems content inside now. She does peek out windows but doesn't try and run outside. I think she likes to lay on their stand and look at her old house and go Na Na Na Na Naaaaaaa Na!!! :D
Miss Angel does try and run outside. She hates closed doors. So she gets shut in a room or the cat carrier when I have to open outside doors.
Funny of all my cats, Winnie is the one who loves to be cuddled and snuggled. To think she was the one I had to wear gloves and thick shoes around at first. :D

Winnie has been on a real tear this morning. I heard a munch munch munch sound and looked around. She was chewing on the telephone line. Next thing I noticed, she had Grandma's favorite mousie, just tearing into it. I took it away and she had been chewing on it's bum. There was a stump there where the tail had been but no tail. I sure hope she didn't eat it. It's pretty long. About 3 inches and has a knot tied in the tail. I can't see how she could have eaten it.
I looked around and can't find the tail anywhere. I know it was there last night because Angel was playing with the mouse and it was there. I'm hoping she just batted the tail under something. Anyway, fingers crossed please that neither of them ate that tail. :(
I had to toss the mouse. It was pretty chewed up. Grandma may never forgive me for that. sigh

Mac loves nip. One time, when I had gifted him with his own catnip mouse, he proceeded to disect it all over the living room floor. There was nip everywhere. Now, he doesn't get to play with his catnip mice except under supervision. He was not happy when I had to trash that mouse, so I don't suppose Grandma will be happy about it. Love to all you furkids!

Was the tail kinda rubbery or leather like? If it's wider than string, it
might just pass on through. I think just string, or thread is very
dangerous if swallowed. I hope you find the tail just slid under a table.

I sure hope that Winnie didn't swallow the tail. My cats used to always eat the leather tails from their mice so now I always make sure to clip off all of the tails from the small mice. They still like them just the same.:) The only mice that can have tails are the much larger mice that have the catnip pockets with velco. Sky's the main one that loves to play with these.

I made the appointment for Angel's 'big girl' surgery. She will go in on Monday afternoon. They will do the surgery the next morning. Then she can come home Wednesday morning.
It makes me sick to think of that sweet little tummy being shaved and cut open. But I am selfish. the 25th is my birthday and I want her home with me then and the following week, is pay week and the bus will be way busy. Plus we would be pushing the 6 month time. I don't want her to go into heat for sure.
They will check her and make sure she is over that virus she had before they do the surgery, just to make sure all is ok. Fingers and prayers for us both, please?

Yep, tomorrow Angel goes in. Well, I take her in the afternoon and they do the surgery Tuesday morning. Then they will call and let me know how she is doing and she can come home Wednesday morning. I have a dr appointment myself in the morning or she would have had to go in then.
I can hardly stand the thought of them cutting that sweet little tummy open. :( Watching her play and knowing what is coming makes me tear up.
I know it has to be done for all our sakes but she is so young and little compaired to the others. :(
There are times I just want to lock myself in the house with them and never come out. ;)
Grandma says thanks again for all the prayers and luvies. She ate a nice snack this afternoon and supper. She seems back to her normal self. She just so seldom throws up, it worried me.

Prays coming for Angel, I'm sure she will do just fine, it's always scary when they go through a procedure.
My prays are coming for you and her,
Melissa
I always think these things are harder on you than they are on our cats.
Moff, she will be just fine - maybe sore for a day or two - but she is young, healthy and will heal in no time. I bet a week from now she will be getting into something new and you will be groaning. She will have forgotten completely about her surgery.
Nonetheless, a prayer or two wouldn't hurt - I will offer some!!

Thank you all!!! It's just she is so small compared to the others. Usually, I don't get a girl cat until she is pregnant. I've never had one so young spayed. The boys, neutered young, yes, but not a girl kitty!
The vet was really busy and there were about 7 BIG dogs in the waiting room. Angel never said a thing but her eyes were as big as silver dollars.
She will get to come home Wednesday Morning at 9:30. :D
It was sure hard to leave her there. The house is awfully quiet.

No word on Miss Angel yet but it's still early and the vet had several surgeries today.
Thought you might enjoy my morning adventure though.
I was sitting in my big chair this morning. Suddenly I heard a loud ringing/buzzing. I have been battling an ear infection so at first I didn't pay it any mind.
It got louder and woudn't stop. I went into other rooms. No noise. I walked around outside the house. No noise. Back in the front room, loud annoying noise!!!
I unplugged everything electric and made sure everything was off. Still noise continued. It sounded like it was coming from the ceiling crawl space to me. So I called a electrician.
They came and couldn't find what was causing it either. They turned off power to the entire house. Noise still continued. They called for advise from their boss. He said it could possibly be cable or telephone lines. They were getting ready to go outside and disconnect those to see if noise stopped.
The youngest guy (and the one with the best hearing of all of us) went behind my chair. He kept swearing the noise was coming from there somewhere.
"I found it!" he yelled. He dove under my chair and pulled out an old electronic poker game I've had for years. Apparently Winnie had knocked it off a stand this morning and broke the on/off switch. It was squawking!!!
How embarrassing!!! :o But I am so glad nothing was shorting out in my house wiring or anything.
Wasn't it nice of God to keep me distracted so I wouldn't worry about Angel this morning? ;) :D
Of course, when I get the bill for an emergency service call, I may not feel quite so blessed.
Just got the phone call: Miss Angel is awake and keeping a sharp eye on all the goings on at the vet's clinic. She can come home tomorrow morning. YAY!

She has played non-stop until a few minutes ago. Now she is napping. She and I both say thanks for all the prayers and luvies.

Willow had a lump too near the incision site. It was the internal stitches and the vet said it might always be there, I guess as scar tissue. So, don't worry yet, that may be all it is. Never hurts to have it checked out tho

I'm wondering the same thing. ;)
Winnie had a lump on her tummy too but hers was there from the beginning. Angels just popped up overnight. Her suture line has what I thought was a scab along it. It may be infected though. I just want them to check her. Angel seems to get infections easily. She had the one with her belly button when she was a baby. Then she had the one earlier this month.
Worried mommy just needs to make double sure. :)

Angel is really really mad at me now though. at the vet's I when was holding her on the table, she would just look at me and open her mouth. No meow, no growl. Just a silent "just wait!!! I'm gonna get you for this!!!!" :D

Just now getting caught up on this thread. So glad Grandma is better now (thank goodness for Taz!).
And I'm glad to hear there was nothing wrong with Angel's belly.
When I had Paizly "done" hers did get infected. It was obvious, greenish yellowish pussy stuff coming from the incision. I wasn't very happy about it, of course. I had her fixed at the shelter where I volunteer at a "low cost". Well it ended up costing what it probably would have cost at my own vet after the vet visit for the infection.
She also had a lump like you described on her incision. Now I can't even tell where her scar is at all. She was also my first female cat to be spayed.

LOL - I'm enjoying kitten zoomies myself now too. Marbles has discovered that a leather loveseat is a LOT of fun because it's slippery! She zooms onto it and then slides down and then runs down the long hall, into the bedroom and then zoom onto the couch again. This morning she zoomed off of it with a loud *ker-thud plop* and then continued on with her antics - SO much fun!

She is long and lean. She's not as tall as the others. I'm hoping she will still get bigger. I'd like her to put on a little weight. She only weighed 5.1 pounds at her last vet visit. She's built more like a grayhound than a cat right now. :D:love:

Miss Angel managed to get one of the kitchen cabinet doors open this morning. She had a grand time throwing glasses out until I nabbed her. She wears me out!!! What she hasn't thought of, can't be thought of I think!
Plus, she just came running through here with her with a mouth full of tissues. She now has access to my Kleneex. Guess I'll need to keep them in the oven from now on. So far, she can't open that door! :D

Poor Chester can't even go to the bathroom by himself any more. Both Angel and Winnie seem obsessed with watching him. It would make me nervous too having all those beady little eyes watching every time I needed to potty. ;)
I just got back from hearing a loud crash crash crash in the kitchen. Angel was in the cupboard throwing out my glasses. She peeked out at me like, "hi mom". I have now tied the door shut. Lets see how long it takes her to get it open now. sigh

She sounds so much like Kuhio as a kitten. Especially the Kleenex fixation. We got in the habit of turning Kleenex boxes upside down which stymied her. :) She's been gone for over 7 years and we still keep them turned over. :p

My poor boy is under the weather. He acts just like Angel did when she had that virus bug in January. I can't get him to the vet until tomorrow plus we are to have freezing rain tonight. If we do, the buses won't run.
He ate some of his breakfast and I have been squirting a bit of water down his throat every few hours. He just doesn't want to move much.
He did feel awfully hot a while ago, so I wiped him down with a damp cloth. That seemed to help. My vet had told me to do that with Angel if her fever came back.

I have no neighbors who would do that plus all my friends dropped me when I got disabled with arthritis. :( BUT:
Chester says thanks for the luvies. He had his very first bus ride. His eyes were so big!!!!
He was a good boy at the vets too. Even when this HUGE dog, called a brindle but looked like a tiger, (just a pup weighing 115 pounds) was right beside his carrier. He did protest the cottom swab up the bum though when they did a worm check on him. (he was worm free) He didn't care for the thermomater either. His temp was 103 something.
They did some blood work. He has a virus. All his blood work was good except his blood suger was high. That's probably because he ate some breakfast this morning. Not much but several bites.
So, he got a shot and some amoxi-cil to start tomorrow. He did start drinking on his own this morning before we went to the vets.
He's laying beside my chair right now.
The receptionist at the vet said if the roads should get bad and the bus wouldn't run and I have a kitty emergency like this, to call her and they would send someone to get them. That's a load off my mind.
thanks again everyone for all the prayers and well wishes.:love:

Do you suppose he might have been just a wee bit jealous of all the attention the "girls" have received - and wanted his fair share :)
I sort of wondered about that at first. Poor boy, the girls take up so much of my time, he gets put on the back burner. He can't even play fetch any more. Angel or winnie will take his toy. Winnie is specially bad about picking on him. She smacks him just for fun. I think I will start shutting them in the kitchen for a bit each day and just give Chester some me time. We will be able to play then without them taking his toys. I have his favorite toy put up so only he will be able to play with it.
He has started 'talking' again. He came up and started chatting and telling me all about his adventure today. He is also jumping up on things again. Such a relief to have my chatty fellow feeling better.
He really frightened me at 1am this morning. He was sleeping on my bed all stretched out. When I called him, he didn't respond. Finally, he opened one eye and looked at me. He was just sound asleep I guess. I gave him a drink of water and a snack and he started feeling better. I was afraid he had died.
Never been so glad to be wrong in my life. Thank you all again so much. I'd be totally crazy without you! The hardest part of my life right now is feeling so alone. I'm glad I'm really not. You are all here!!!:love:

Chester is mad at me because I have been giving him yuckie meds. ;) He's been sleeping a lot but then, that med probably makes him sleepy, plus he isn't feeling real well yet.
He is eating and drinking good. Unless I've missed something, he hasn't pooped in about a week. He pees good. I think he may use the potty during the night and I just have been missing the big event. He doesn't act like he has to go or anything. I just try and keep track of things like that when one of them is sick.
Winnie is in time out in the kitchen right now. She smacks Chester every time she sees him. Angel is sleeping on their unused tv stand in the middle room in the sun and Grandma is snoring in my bed. I'm the only one awake right now. How odd is that?

I am having a big problem with Miss Winnie. She has suddenly taken it in her head to turn the water bowl over I keep in the bedroom for Grandma. She had done it twice just his morning. Now I have a very wet carpet and Miss Winnie is locked in the kitchen.
I hate to keep Grandma locked in the bedroom to keep Winnie out because grandma likes to come in here sometimes. She's sleeping in my recliner right now. I'm not going to punish Grandma because Winnie can't behave herself.
I can't keep Winnie locked in the kitchen forever. Though that is looking more appealing every day. (just kidding).
I guess I'll just have to pick grandma's water bowl up and just keep an eye on her and bring it back if I see her looking for a drink or at night when winnie is shut in the kitchen. Winnie won't let grandma into the kitchen to drink or eat. She tries to keep chester out when she can. I don't know what to do about that girl!!!
Gosh, I guess Rascal needs to come back and give Winnie a talking to!!:D
Moff, is it possible to put Grandma's water bowl into something heavier such as a pyrex casserole dish - so she could still get to the water, but if Winnie tried to turn it over, the water would go into the pyrex?
Or maybe a plastic wash basin - just something bigger and heavier
than Grandma's water dish?
Kids - what are you going to do with them?

I know. That's what I was afraid of before I brought her inside. I am still amazed that Chester doesn't stand up to her. She acts just like he used to with Leonardo and Luke. Oddly, Grandma is getting along better with her as long as she stays clear or her.
Winnie acts more like a baby than Angel does at times. I'm hoping they will calm down when they get older. She has come such a long way from the cat I used to have to wear armour around to get near when we first met. :)
Gini, I did put Grandma's water bowl in my 8x8 pyrex baking dish. Hopefully, that will solve the problem. Until I need to use my dish. Think I'll just buy me a new one some time. :D Thanks for the tip.

I have forgotten just how far Winnie has come. Of course you should give her more time and lots of love before you make any kind of decision. She is a beautiful girl and I'm sure, with love, she will eventually settle down. I was just worried about Grandma. She seems like a such a nice older kitty.
