Please keep Winnie in your thoughts and prayers. She has not been here all day. She usually stays on the back porch or near by and always comes when I call her.

There has been a dog hanging around the neighborhood since yesterday. I know it's been on the porch because I've seen it. I'm hoping she is just hiding. That plus it's been raining all night and morning. Rain has never stopped her before but the dog is a black lab pup. Really big!!! Hopefully she will come home soon.

At least poor Lilac was able to come for some food.

Miss Angel is 10 weeks old today. She goes to the white coats in the morning for her booster shot. I'm not telling her until it's time to pack her up for the trip. :D

Is there any good hiding places around? Trees or large bushes, etc?
I hope Winnie found a good one. Prayers for her safety.

Yes, there are lots of places she could be. There are several porches in the neighborhood she could be under and some garages that are open. She's just never been gone this long since I've known her.

She was gone quite a bit yesterday. Could be she is just getting a taste of freedom without worrying about Angel or getting pregnant. :)

Her tummy is all healed now. Just a tiny pooch where the lump was.

Yes, I walked all around the yard and to the alley and up and down it and the street too, just in case she was hit by a car. No sign of her.

I'm wondering if she took off with the orange cat that I think is Angel's dad. He was in the yard last night and she didn't chase him off like she usually does.

Supper time now and still no sign of her. Maybe she will be home by morning. She has to be getting hungry. :(

Bingo, I think that's very possible.:) Although I always thought the males
could tell if the the female was spayed & wouldn't come around.
I don't know if that's true or not.

Well, when Grandma was spayed, she was still an outdoor cat. She spent 3 days in a tree because the guys were, um, willing, and she wasn't.

Winnie's been gone about 24 hours now that I can figure. She was here at supper time yesterday but when I took it out, she wasn't around. I left it out and checked about 10 minutes later and it was completely gone. I'm sure the dog got it. Winnie never eats that much that fast.

Well, all I can do now is trust God and her Angels to keep her safe and bring her back if she is meant to be part of this family. :(

My heart sank when I saw your update about Winnie :( Is there any sign of her yet? Any chance that she might be in the shed since it's a familiar place to her? Have you considered taking Angel with you when you look for her outside? Maybe mommy Winnie would respond to Angel's meows.

Prayers are being prayed that Winnie will be back by the time you see this. A candle just might help too.

Gary - Can you contact the angel's top notch search team? If anyone can find Winnie and lead her home safely, they can!

No, sign yet. I'll check every time I get up during the night. The shed has been shut and locked since Angel moved inside the house. There is no way Winnie could be in there.

I don't want to risk taking Angel outside. She squirms so bad, I could drop her. She would run off for sure and I couldn't catch her.

Lut (Maya and Inka's mommy) had great luck with a pet psychic on our list...Brody's Mum.

Might be worth PM'ing her! Anything she charges goes to help animals...and if you are short on funds I can help a bit. I think she charges $25.00...US or CDN I am not sure.

Sadly, still no Winnie. I went looking for her last night with no luck. And I looked down every street this morning when the bus took me and Angel to the vet. I'm fairly sure she has not been hit by a car or at least, not in the neighborhood if so. :( I have a feeling she is gone.

I mentioned it to the vet this morning. She said Winnie could still come home. That sometimes cats take off after they have been spayed for some reason. If not, try to remember I did everything I could for her. It still hurts though. :(

Oh, a happier note, Miss Angel charmed them all at the vets again. She has gained almost an entire pound, again. She weighed 1.4 oz last time. Now she weighes 2.2. She wasn't happy when they stuck the cotton swab you know where to check for worms. They wanted to make sure they got them all when they treated her for them. She goes back next month for her "big girl" shots. :)

Lilac came to eat this morning. All the cats outside have been having lots of thick fur this year BUT unless I'm very much mistaken, she is now expecting.
I'll feed her but I don't want to get involved with more babies. :(

I don't think that's a good idea. If Winnie doesn't come for food, she
probably wouldn't come for Angel. Angel has not had all her shots yet
either. I wonder if someone took Winnie inside.??

I wonder if someone took Winnie inside.??

That's what I'm wondering too. When I think about it, she hadn't been staying that close around here lately. I always check on her when I get up at night. She usually sleeps on that old table on an old towel. She hasn't for about 5 nights. But she always came for breakfast. Then stayed around most of the day.

Wednesday night, she was here for supper. I checked her tummy and told her she was all healed up. The lump was just a tiny bump and the stitches were all gone. I told her I loved her and to stay out of the street. Then came inside to get her supper. When I went back outside a few minutes later she was not there.

I left her supper and checked in about 10 minutes. Even the plate was licked clean. That's when I knew there was a dog around. Winnie never eats that much. Then the next morning, there was dog prints all over the porch. BIG dog prints.

I was right there in the kitchan and if the dog had attacked Winnie, I would have heard it. There was no noise at all. Just like she was sucked up by a ufo or something. It's just so odd she disappeared the night she was "officially" dubbed healed from her surgery.

Have you gone to the local pound/shelter/SPCA and looked for her?

Maybe an animal control officer picked her up and they have her there awaiting adoption.

If you go, take some photos of her. Fill out a lost pet form. Ask to review the found cat forms. Also search the DOA file. :( Look in every cage in every room of the building. Even the infirmary/clinic.

Our pound doesn't take in cats. The control officer won't even try and pick them up. That's how I got Winnie in the first place. When the family abandoned her and the two dogs, they took the dogs but left her loose.

I just talked to my neighbor, Mary. She hasn't seen Winnie either but will keep an eye out for her. She said there was one night when two dogs had her trapped under my old car but she got away and ran off. She came back after that though.

I walked down the alley, checking the dog neighbor's yard, just in case she was laying there. She must have gotten frightened Wednesday night and ran so far away, she got lost. :(

Moff - cats are so funny. If they have been badly frightened, they can stay in one place for a long time. My first cat had crawled into my old stereo cabinet when I first moved into a new apartment. I thought he had escaped the apartment. Turns out he was in there for over two weeks. I about died one morning when out he came - brazenly asking to be fed.

Is it possible Winnie is up inside the underpart of your car - and the dogs have frightened her? Maybe put some food under the car and see what happens. (far enough so that a dog couldn't reach it.)

Just grasping for straws here.

Like Gini, I'm grasping at straws here. I just saw a piece in the paper about an orangie that was hiding in the engine compartment of a car. The owner had no idea the cat was there and drove 2 miles until another driver saw the cat's tail and paw then alerted the driver. (kitty is doing well resting in a shelter). Could Winnie have crawled up inside your old car and be hiding or stuck under the hood? Are there any abandoned buildings around your area? If so, maybe Winnie is in there hiding and too scared to come out. Since she was abandoned by her former owner, could she have gone back to her previous home?

My prayers continue for Winnie's swift and safe return. [[[[[HUGS]]]]] being sent for you

momoffuzzyfaces
10-24-2009, 05:39 PM
I thought about the car motor too. I went and checked. I can't get the hood up any more but I did call and there is no answer. I go out that way several times a day and have called and listened for her with no answer. It's not like her to be afraid of any dog. She's chased dobermans out of the yard before.

The house she used to live in is right beside mine. Only a few feet away. It's shut up with no way for her to get inside. As for old buildings, our entire town is littered with them. Cats go down into the sewers sometimes too.

One thing that tells me Winnie is not on the property is Lilac. She had beat Lilac up so often, she won't come near the place if Winnie is any where near here. Believe me she keeps looking around for her.

She will just have to come back on her own. I'm at my wits end. :(

I peeked out the door one more time before bedtime and there she was. :D
You can bet I scooped her up and hugged her. Now the problem is what do I do now?

I thought I'd put her in the bathroom with Angel for the night but Angel is hissing and throwing a fit. She's forgotten her own mommy!

So, right now, Angel is in the bathroom and Winnie is locked in the kitchen. Chester and Grandma are in the middle room, front room and bed room. As much as I hate having a litter box in my bed room, I guess for the night, I'll need to put one in there with some food and water and keep Grandma and Chester in here with me and out of the kitchen.

Now the fun begins. Trying to see if I can get them to all get along together. I can't let Winnie back outside. She might not come back next time. She is spooked for sure. But all is ok for tonight.

Thanks you all dear friends for all the prayers for us. Please keep them coming that somehow this all works out for all of us!!!:love:

Oh Winnie darling - many kisses planted on that cute grey head of yours.

Oh Moff - isn't it wonderful being a "parent"...........??

I think I would just tell them "like it is" - all of you get along or ALL of you can go live in the shed.

I know that when I talk to Rascal and firmly say o.k. - enough is enough - it must be the tone of my voice because he stops.

Annie looks at me like I couldn't possibly mean her - she is so perfect.

Now you older kitties just learn to get along with the new ones, k? Miss Winnie could get all lost again! ;):D

Maybe Winnie had some odd smell on her from being wherever she was...and that is what Angel was upset about.

When we got our latest kitty, Mau Mau, we kept her in a seperate room for one night, then let the cats take turns being in the living room, den, and kitchen. The next day, they all got used to the scent of the new cat being in the house. The next day, we put Mau Mau in a cat carrier and set her in the middle of the living room. The other cats did the usual hissing and growling. We put her back in her room and repeated this the next day. By the third day, the cats were playing pawsies under the door. We brought her out in the carrier that night for awhile and then let her out. No hisses or anything, they were all chirping at each other and now, they are all best buds. It just takes a little time. So glad Winnie is home!!!

This is the first thread I checked and what a relief! I'm so glad she's home, MOFF. Years ago my Boo Bear was missing for only one night, the coldest, snowiest night of the year no less, and I was crazy w/worry and fear so I can only imagine how you must have felt about Winnie. I hugged Boo for quite a while, then I felt like spanking him for scaring me like that. Give Winnie girl lots of hugs from Mary and the Fur Posse, ok? And take a few for yourself. (((HUGS))) :D

We had a peaceful night all things considered. Well, I was so exhausted I passed out but did get up a couple of times. Winnie seems to be adjusting well to being in the kitchen. She does go to the outside door but I tell her No! that part of your life is over now.

I will always think it was everyone's prayers that led me to find her last night. I had checked outside just 10 minutes earlier and she wasn't there. Then I did a bathroom break and decided to take one more peek. You could have knocked me over with a feather when I saw her there. I grabbed her and never let go!

Something sure has frightened her though. When I took trash out this morning, there was a big clump of gray and white fur right by the steps. She is the only gray and white animal around here. Maybe she won't be so agressive with Chester and Grandma after her adventures.

I do have a few pics of Winnie. Just thought you'd like to see her for yourselves. I know I would. :D

She's trying to tell me about her adventures but I don't understand her accent yet.

I would imagine that Winnie certainly could feel the love from you last night as you scooped her up.

I laughed thinking about all of us "aunts" standing around shaking our fingers at Winnie and each of us having sighs of relief, bits of anger because she didn't come home sooner - and lots of advice about what she needs to do now. But most of all we feel relief and love for a very beautiful cat.

Winnie, we don't know where you were or what scary things you may have encountered these past few days. But you found your way back to where you're safe and loved. Get some rest, fill your tummy, and make friends with Chester and Grandma. Above all else, stay inside now!!!

Groucho is asking if Chester and Grandma would like to join in on the Catmobile trip to the World Series. After the week all of you had, Groucho thinks some rest and relaxation with their fellow kitties might be good for them.

This morning she not only had him backed into the carrier, she climbed in with him! It was so funny the two of them stuffed in there together. For once, I didn't get pics. I was laughing too hard. :D My boy has sure met his match in that little one!!! :D

Winnie had her first "family" visit this morning. She was in a carrier. There weren't as many hisses and growls as I expected. Chester laid down in front of the carrier and they growled and hissed a while. Then Winnie got bored and went to sleep and Chester took a nap on the back of my recliner.

Grandma stayed in the bedroom and didn't encounter Winnie yet though.

The last time I brought a newbie inside, other than Angel, was 7 years ago when Grandma moved in with us. I was expecting a world war. She came in with nary a hiss or growl. Of course the other three were all males and had seen her out the windows for years.

Angel managed to get herself shut inside the frige this after noon. I was getting stuff out to make a sandwich and somehow she snuck inside. I head a rattling coming from the door so opened it. There she was on the bottom shelf of the door. Luckily she was only in there about two minutes. :( I didn't know she was even in the kitchen. She's quick and sneaky that one is.

Meanwhile, Winnie seems content in the kitchen. She has been busy cleaning out dust fuzzies from under the shelves and appliances. She's even found some lost toys and has been playing with them. :D

It sounds like things are working out pretty well so far. Seeing Angel and Chester both crammed into the carrier together must have been a sight! I can't help but laugh just thinking about it. Also sounds like Winnie is adjusting to being an indoor kitty. Could it be that Angel hissed at her mommy for up and leaving her?

3Catcondo

Owen and Willow have both gone in the fridge. Owen spent almost 5 mins in there one time when I didn't realize that's where he had gone. Willow gets in just about every time I open the fridge, so anytime she goes in I prop the door open so noone gets left in there. LOL.

Angel is so darn cute. She def has some unique markings.

Winnie reminds me of my friend's cat who is a long grey/white male, his name is Wolf.
I'm glad Winnie had been spayed so she didn't come back preggo, that would have been bad. My bet is that a dog or two spooked her. Wolf disappeared on us for a couple of days, a dog attacked his fursister Baby and killed her, and Wolf would not come home for a few days after that. He, as well as Winnie, were probably in hiding.
Please give your cat clan lots of love from us.

So far things are quiet here. Well, except for the usual havoc that Angel causes. Winnie has had two 'visits' in here with Chester and Angel. Grandma has been staying in the bedroom. I think she hopes if she ignores Winnie she will go away.

I'm trying to get brave enough to let Winnie just wonder in here out of the carrier and see what happens. I'm afraid it will be like letting a tornado loose in the front room though.

Grandma went in and saw Winnie. She just turned around and left. :D

Angel and Winnie remember each other now. Winnie was hiding behind a box of A&W root beer and jumping out at her. Then they chase each other around the kitchen. It's nice having Winnie to keep Angel busy part of the day!!!

You must be careful with these hoomins. They seem to think that, just because we wake them in the night, they are entitled to do the same to us.

Oh, yes, Winnie loves to be held and snuggled. Angel doesn't though. She won't let me hold her without trying to eat me!!! I keep telling her it's not fair to look that cute and not allow cuddles but she doesn't listen. I'm hoping she will learn to like cuddles when she is older. She is currently making a big mess on the carpet by pulling out the cardboard scratching post from her circle toy with the ball and shredding it!!! :D

and how was your day? :D

What a morning. Well at least you did have a good night's
sleep before the riot started.:D

Have you tried catnip on them yet? They should all just get silly.:)

Tried the nip just now! Grandma doesn't do nip. Angel looked at it and found nothing fun in it. Chester and Winnie are rolling around being goofy on the kitchen floor. That should break the ice for sure, eh? :D

All luvies delivered from everyone too. The kitties thank you all!

Angel is probably too young to enjoy nip. I have read that cats don't develop a "nose" for it until they are grown! And something like 25% never do.

Beautiful little Angel looks so peaceful and sleeping so nicely. What a little sweetheart  She still gets cuter by the hour! How is Winnie doing? Is she adjusting to being an indoor kitty? Are Chester and Grandma doing okay?

Earlier today I went back to your very first post and again looked at all of the pictures especially of Angel. Wow, she sure has grown into a happy and healthy little kitten! You have done an extraordinary job with Angel and Winnie! How wonderful to see all the love you've given them being returned!

I do feel that Edwina has a more mature and worldly look about her. After all, she has had quite a life! She is simply more sophisticated.

Winnie on the other hand is more willing to throw caution to the wind and roll around on MOFF'S kitchen floor in catnip. She in time will learn a few things from Edwina and certainly alter her behavior as time goes on.

There is no question though, that they are both beautiful cats!

I try to ignore it too but sometimes Chester is just looking for a fight. He picked on Grandma when it was just the two of them. She never starts a fight. Looks like Angel's got all the white markings from her beautiful Mom, but she has such unique and beautiful markings of her own. All your kitties are just gorgeous, and it's so much fun watching Angel (and Winnie in a way) grow up!

Angel is one of cutest kittens I have ever seen. Winnie, however, is the one who has stolen my heart. I am so happy she is fixed and safe indoors in a great home! Bless you for your kindness!!

Angel let me pet her again this morning without trying to make a snack of me! :D I did notice a small lump between her shoulder blades though. I think it's from where she got her last shots.

When Leonardo got his lukemia shot, he had big lumps come up under his front arms. I mentioned that to the vet and she said that shot sometimes does that.

I'll be sure and show her Angel's lump when we go for her final shots next Friday. She had gotten that shot at her last visit. She acts fine and it doesn't seem to bother her to have it touched or anything. I'll keep you posted.

Chester is fine. Grandma is having trouble adjusting. The three gang up on her and keep her from going into the kitchen for food, water and the potty. She's not a fighter and they lay in wait for her to jump out and hiss at her. :(

I did put food and water in the bedroom. That's where Grandma spends most of her time, in my bed. Angel went in and made a mess with splashing water all over the carpet right off. She learned that from Chester. sigh

Grandma will still have to go to the litter box in the kitchen or bathroom though. Litter boxes in a carpeted bed room are not a good thing. I just can't sleep with the smell. No matter how clean you keep them, the smell gets into the carpet. I have enough trouble sleeping withough that keeping me awake. :(

I'm almost at my wits end here. Grandma went and used the litter box to pee. No problems. No interference or even hisses from anyone. Then she goes to the bedroom and POOPS!!!

I took her over and showed it too her and told her NO!!!!!!!!! Never EVER do that!!! So, she ran and hid under the bed.

Oh, great! Now she's frightened of the 3 plus me. I just crawled in bed and cried. I don't know what to do. It's so odd that it took all this time for her to act up. Maybe I should give her some alone time with me every day with them locked out of the bedroom. A little girl time for just us. If she ever forgives me, that is. :(

Oh, I don't think Grandma will hold a grudge, she loves you. Maybe it
is a good thing ,in a way, Grandma is just showing how much they were

I'm sorry Grandma is not doing well with the other kitties. Maybe her boyfriend, Taz, can pop in from the bridge and give those other kitties a lesson on how to treat their elders!

I know how stressful it is to have kitties that don't get along. Taz never accepted Paizly and G and Paizly do not get along AT ALL. My dream is to have cuddling kitties someday.

I think special Grandma time is a great idea. And I'd be disciplining the others for their behavior too. G goes back to his room when he bothers Paizly. He was grounded all weekend because of an incident Friday night.

Oh and I just love the pictures of Angel and Winnie on the rainy day. Winnie seems to be VERY comfortable in the house now. :D

I was told once that pooping outside the box is a behavioral problem - not medical. I'm guessing she's rebelling against being ganged up on.

I agree with the others, give her some time alone with you. Shut the others away, and let her out to roam around without being bothered.

Amy

The vet put Winnie's age at a year and a half but I don't think she is quite that. Angel was from her second litter a neighbor told me. Winnie probably had the first one when she was about 6 months old.

Winnie has just blossomed since coming inside the house. It's hard to believe this is the cat I had to wear gloves around when I first started feeding. :)

Oh MOFF, I'm so sorry to hear about Grandma. Are you sure it's not just an age thing?? I ask that because lately Max has been pooping around the apartment. I went to close the window last night just before heading to bed and here is a large poop by the window in the bedroom. I have also found poop by the front door and in the living room. It could be a coincidence and maybe it is the new additions but maybe keep it in mind.

I agree that perhaps spending a couple of hours a day alone time with Grandma will help.

{{hugs}}} to you MOFF :love: and kisses to the furfamily.

Mercy, the police were just here.

I was watching my soaps. Angel was having a rest locked in the bathroom. Chester had given himself a time out (to get a break from Angel). Winnie was in the kitchen and Grandma was sleeping on my bed.

Then came a pounding on the door that would not stop. I peeked out and there were two police people.

When I opened the door they said they had a report of a disturbance at this address. I told them it was just me and 4 cats. (and my soaps)
The woman officer came in for a look see, just to be sure I wasn't hiding anyone. sheesh

Anyway, they asked if I knew a certain person who I never heard of. Then another cop car pulled up and they had a meeting. The woman officer told them it was alone but for the cats and she would verify that. They finally left.

On a good note, Grandma, Winnie, and Chester are under the bed together right now. Maybe they will make peace with each other. Fingers crossed please!!!

Maybe my next door neighbor called the cops to get back at me for nagging him about his loud stereo. :(

Yes, a nice quiet day for a change. No cops, no cat hissy fits, yet anyway!

After breakfast, I carried grandma to the litter boxes and a few other times during the day. At least she was able to use the box with no other kitties bugging her.

We all had a long nap this afternoon. I think Angel is finally growing up. She has been napping in the afternoons lately, just like the big kids. Of course, she runs full tilt the rest of the time. Guess she needs to recharge once in a while. She will be ready to romp about bedtime. :D:love:
