(waving) Hi, Angel cutie! You are just so darling I can hardly stand it! The picture of you and mommy definitely needs to be the 2010 May photo for Mother's Day!
I couldn't agree with you more, Elyse!

Both are beautiful. You've done a nice job. You really should submit those photos to a contest or a calendar, esp the one of the mom and kit.

I would love to see Winnie and Angel in the 365 Cats Page-a Day calendar!
http://www.pageaday.com/pub-bin/catcontestsreg.pl
When I worked at United Healthcare, one of my co-workers would get this calendar every year as a Christmas gift - if she didn't get it from her family, one of us would buy it for her early January birthday - and she was in charge of each day. She was a tough cookie about not allowing anyone to peek ahead! But every day, people would come by her cubicle to see that day's kitty. It helped that there were a whole lot of kitty purr-ents on my team!

We are working on it! To think this was shaping up to be such a sad summer what with Luke then Leonardo both going to the Bridge. Winnie and Angel sure make me laugh.
I called the vet today. Angel will go in for her first shots next Friday morning. Winnie will go in on October first to be spayed. The vet said they could do it a week earlier but it would be better for Winnie to wait a little.
She will go in on October 5th at 9 (providing I can catch her and get her in the carrier). They will do the surgery on the morning of the 6th and she will get to come home the afternoon of the 7th if all goes well. I'm sure she will be even more kitten like after she has her surgery.
I need to go toy shopping! :D
A candle for Angel, Winnie and Meowmie!

I have Angel inside in the afternoons trying to get the other cats used to her. Usually she stays in the cat carrier but she wanted out so badly today. I put her on the bed for a bit. And got a few pics! ;)
Angel meets Grandma! They did really well. Grandma did hiss a couple of times then left.

Angel has a dirty nose! She needs a bath tomorrow afternoon before she goes to the vet on Friday for her shots.
Chester just hisses and growls when he sees her or even when he sees the carrier any more.

Winnie can't come inside for a while. She needs spayed first. I also need to wait until her need to protect Angel is not as strong or she would shred the indoor cats. She beat the stuffing out of Lilac (the kitty I feed under the lilac bush) yesterday and chased a Doberman out of the yard last week.

I know and I hate to give her one but the fleas are coming back. They can suck a baby cat to death. The vet told me to bathe her as often as needed. (using Dawn dish liquid) She has not needed a bath for quite a while now.

Yes, Lilac still comes to eat but she leaves before I let Winnie out of the shed now. :D
Angel went to the vet for her first shots this morning and charmed the socks off everyone!!! :D Even the receptionest who is allergic to cats had to hold her. :)
Angel is officially a girl (never any doubt about that really) ;)
She weighed in at 1 pound 4 oz. A gain of 1 pound since her last visit.
She goes back next month for a booster shot then the month after that for her "adult" shots.
She can be spayed in December or January. I think we will wait until January though. I don't want to ruin her first Christmas.
Oh, the vet said she was probably born with a crooked tail and it's fine.
Thanks for all the prayers and well wishes for us.

They are in the shed tucked in for the night. Winnie did give me a fright. She chased an orange cat out of the yard. (I think he is Angel's daddy). She was gone for quite a while but finally came back. For once she didn't resist going in the shed for the night.
I imagine Angel has lots to tell her about her adventure to the white coat today!!! :D :D

I bring Angel in the house for a while during the afternoons because the shed is metal and way too hot with the sun shinning on it. I hate to keep her locked up all the time so she has been adventuring out a bit in the house. Chester and Grandma were sleeping in the bedroom.
Angel seems to like playing with the carrier. That purple blob is her "baby". A tiny stuffed dog. As you can see, she's not getting a bit spoiled. :D

Angel is inside for her afternoon play time. She loves balls with bells. Here she is playing with one in front of the cat carrier. In the second pic, you will notice a big black Chester, watching her. He's not sure what to make of her.
She did roll the ball right over to him. He ran away.
There have been a few hisses but nothing major. :) You can really see Angel's crooked little tail in the last pic.

:) MMmm you never can tell.. After having surgery & getting over it she may not notice.. Then again she may look a bit.. I dont think she will be in a fuss over it at all.. Now are you going to try to poof Winnie in the house too?? I sure hope so.. That would be so nice.. I do know your older cats will not hurt the kitten Angel.. The adults seem to know when its a baby.. It may take a bit longer with Winnie = but in no time they will all be friends.. Heck my babies hardly blink a eye now when a new baby comes in.. Just like Bogart now they dont even blink a eye at him & I have had him one month now.. Good Luck with Surgery Winnie & Meowmom will be waiting for you to bring you home.. Post us on how she does ok..

Lilac still comes for breakfast every morning. :)
I feed her and she eats then leaves before I let Winnie out of the shed. I am concerned how they will get along after Winnie's surgery when Winnie is no longer locked in the shed at night. :( Winnie hates being locked in the shed so much that after I move Angel inside, I can't keep locking her in the shed at night. :( I'm just trusting this will all sort out somehow.

Here are some new Angel pics fresh from about an hour ago. She is having her afternoon "indoor" time. Sorry the ones with the ball are blurry. It's hard to take pics of her when she is in action mode!
Mom, Winnie, and I practiced getting into the cat carrier today. Needed to know if I'd need to put on armour to get her in. She went right in. That sort of confirms in my mind, she never had a vet visit or a shot in her life. Monday is the day she goes in and Tuesday morning will be the day!!! Prayers and crossed paws and fingers for us, please?

Sounds good about Winnie and the carrier! It'll be like a little "house" for her.
MAYBE...if she calms down some and you want to try and get her indoors, a large dog carrier would be good for starters. Then she and the other kitties can sniff through the wire (under supervision of course!)
Prayers that all goes well on Monday!:)

You know, there is this spray stuff that helps keep the kitties "calm"...I'm not home so I can't look at the can but I know I got it at Petsmart and it was rather expensive....that's the downside. The good news is it really helped my cats be less agressive when Winston came home from surgery and it made Winston less anxious too....I wish I could remember what it's called....maybe someone else will know what I'm talking about.
I thought it might make Grandma and Chester more accepting of Angel (although that seems to be happening anyway) and might help Winnie adjust to the others after her vet stay.....good luck to all!

The spray is called Feliway, and it is indeed rather expensive at pet stores. However, you can find it through many online vendors at much better prices. I have gotten it from carealotpets.com, but that was a little while ago, so I suggest you do a Google search on Feliway and see what kinds of prices you can find. There is also a Feliway diffusion set, a plug-in with a (replaceable) bottle of Feliway liquid that slowly diffuses throughout the immediate environment.

I don't know when you bought that bottle of Feliway - but the patent expired on it late last year - and the price is about half of what it was.
Hopefully, Winnie will lose her hormone edge some time after her spay, and maybe won't need other help. Fingers crossed here. :)

Angel has been playing like a crazy cat in here this morning. Chester has hissed and growled a bit but not offered to hurt her. I even left them alone for just a second when I had to run and get something from the other room. Not a problem. :D I don't think he knows she's a cat. She's the first baby he's ever seen.
She played until she finally fell asleep. I tucked her inside her carrier and she's all stretched out snoozing her little head off.
One thing, I need to do something about my computer's cords. When I got my first computer all my cats were grown and not interested in cords. I need to see about finding something to put over them.
Anyway, I got a few pics today.

There's no way you could possibly let any of these kitties down! You do so much for Angel, Winnie, Grandma and Chester with your primary concern always being what's best for each one. Because of your love and care, little Angel is thriving at 7 weeks old, Winnie is getting the veterinary care she needs, and Grandma & Chester are starting to accept their new little playmate.
You're doing...and have been doing...all the right things right from the start! There's no question that you're a true PT hero!!! Bless you for all the wonderful things you continue to do for these lucky kitties. Where would they be without you?
Prayers are already being prayed for Winnie to do very well with the vet.
Angel, you just keep getting cuter by the minute! Sending you lots of chin scritchies. Also sending lots of lovies to Grandma, Chester, and Winnie!

 Guess what Angel I even have a pillow to sit on the floor just so I wont hurt myself with falling over with Love over You.. You are just the Cutest Ever...
Now there's a really good idea. Not only to sit on the floor first (thereby avoiding falling off the chair due to CUTENESS) but to put a pillow there!
Try the hardware store or the Home Depot (Lowe's, Menards) for cord covers. My next door neighbor used a piece of PVC piping to corral his cords when his puppy first came home. He also put bright blue painter's tape on the end of his mini blind cords and looped them up over the curtain rods so puppy couldn't get them. The blue painter's tape was just so he could quickly find the cord when he wanted to adjust the blinds.

Winnie was an absolute angel this morning! I opened the shed door just wide enough to reach in and grab her. Then picked her up for a cuddle and into the carrier she went. I had put the towel from Angel's carrier in with Winnie so she would have the scent of her with her. She didn't care much for the bus ride but other than that she did fine. They will call tomorrow after her surgery to let me know she's ok. then she can come home Wednesday after 9 am. :D
Angel was the stinker who was hard to catch in the shed this morning. But I prevailed and she is now established in the bathroom. I have pics if anyone wants to see them. ;)
Oh, I found a cord cover at Walmart this morning. Thanks for reminding me about the cords on the blinds, Cassiesmom! I'll tie or tape them up!!!
Thank you all again for all the luvies and prayers for us all.

Winnie Darling,
Take it from me. It takes a while but it is worth. You CAN get used to furred or furrless....it is new and different - being inside...but trust me...when it gets to be cold and wet outside it will feel so nice to be warm and cozy.
You will make friends - and the ones without fur are such good hunters you will never know another day of hunger!
And by the way....purple is so you!

Well, Winnie still has to stay outside. For a while anyway. Chester and Grandma haven't adjusted to Angel yet. Grandma smacked at her last night when she wouldn't take a hissy hint and tried to crawl into a chair with Grandma. Chester smacked at her this morning just for trying to play with his tail. Guess he doesn't remember all the times he grabbed Luke and Leonardo's tails. But all smacks have been air smacks no contact. So now we wait a while.
Winnie checked out her new bed on the back porch. The porch is enclose on two and a half sides so she can get out of the weather. She also had to check the shed, just in case I left Angel in there. I did let her see angel through the back door. Angel is so fast now, I can't let her outside. I'd never catch her if she took off. Still, we are all making progress in the right direction and our neighbor, Mary, will help watch out for winnie. Sorry, but it's the best I can do for now.

That's very interesting. All of our cats have chips; our Vet waived the initial cost for each of them. And there was a one time registration fee of $25 per cat. That's it - no further costs

I doubt it. She really hates being shut in there. We are to have thunderstorms tonight and tomorrow. The shed is metal and that rain hitting it must be murder on her ears.
She did go in and look around earlier. Maybe she was looking for Angel. I did show her Angel through the kitchen storm door so she knows now Angel is ok. Angel has gotten so fast, I can't put her down outside. She would scoot away and I'd never catch her again.
Winnie just looked at her, yawned then went for a snack.

Winnie is doing great. She just ate her supper. She's been on the back porch most of the day because it's been pouring rain here all day. She does have one spot that looks like it may have oozed a bit and is redder than the rest. It looks lots better tonight. I'll keep a close eye on her.
Poor Lilac didn't get to have any food today though. Winnie must have chased her off. Winnie considers this "her home" now. Lilac didn't even show up. At least with Winnie wearing a bell, Lilac can hear her coming and stay clear. I don't want her beat up again. :(

Miss Angel has Tortitude plus! She cries if I go into another room. When I put her in the bathroom for the night, she cries most of the night. She thinks she's such a big girl she should be allowed free access to the entire house. Not yet, munchkin!!! :D
Winnie is doing fine. She just chased Lilac out of the yard when she tried to come and eat. :( Winnie does have the desolving stitches. It was so funny later when she went to sample some of the dry food I keep out for them. Chester came and sniffed her and she hissed at HIM! :D He hasn't hissed at her since but has been seen chasing her through the house when he thinks I'm not looking. :D
Grandma is getting along better too. She bonked Angel gently on the head last night when Angel tried to crawl into the chair where Grandma was trying to nap. Angel now shows Grandma proper respect. :D

Could be a hernia...they are not uncommon in newly spayed kitties. Maybe give the vet a quick call and see about taking her in. Yes, it means a tad more surgery, but not nearly as invasive.
Hope she heals quickly.

Like so many of my PT friends, I'm in love with both Winnie and Angel, Chester and Grandma too. It seems the best you can do for Winnie is contact your vet about her tummy. It may be nothing and I pray that it is but your vet is best able to determine that. You've done so much for Winnie right from the start. For Winnie and your own peace of mind, see what your vet has to say. Please know my prayers are with Winnie right now. Would you give her some comforting lovies from me?
It sounds like all is going to be just fine with Grandma, Chester, and Angel. I have to agree that Chester and Grandma are teaching Angel exactly who's who in the house. Could I ask you to give each of them lots of scritchies and lovies from me?
Please let us know what your vet says about Winnie?
momoffuzzyfaces
10-12-2009, 08:32 AM
I just called the vet's office. They said they wouldn't be able to tell anything from pics. They advised to wait until the end of the week and see how Winnie is doing. She may be having trouble absorbing the stitches. They said that happens fairly often. To me it did look a tiny bit smaller this morning but maybe that's just wishful thinking. Anyway, unless it gets worse, we will wait a few more days. The stitches themselves looked really good this morning.
If it does get worse, they said they will be glad to see her. So, we wait. In the meantime, Winnie is enjoying chasing bugs. :D
Thanks everyone for the prayers and well wishes for her and us.

Paizly's incision got infected when we had her spayed, but it didn't get a large bump like Winnie's. It did ooze puss though and was red. Hers doesn't look like that. So I'm glad to hear it's getting smaller. :D

Winnie's tummy didn't look quite as good this morning as it did yesterday but still not as bad as it was. I'm just keeping a close eye on it.
She lost her collar sometime during the night. I'm glad it did it's job and broke open so she wasn't trapped. I don't think I'll get her a new one. She only had that one a week. I don't want to risk her getting trapped somewhere because of it.
She got into the kitchen this morning and came nose to nose to Chester. He just looked at her. She hissed at him. Whe I put her back outside, who should I see on the porch but Miss Angel.
I about had a heart attack. She must have ran out when Winnie ran in. I let them kiss each other then grabbed the little stinker and brought her back inside where she has proceeded to run amok all morning.
She learned how to climb up my shopping bag on wheels and get on the kitchen counter, she has been attacking my feet and ankles, and the power cords too, she had crawled up on the table by my easy chair and cleaned it off. I did put her in her kitty carrier while I put mail out on the box. Not going to risk any more jail breaks here. I need a nap and it's not even lunch time yet!!! :D

Caring for Angel must be a lot like having a toddler in the house. Thankfully, my Ming was the nicest kitty, never got into any trouble. Of course, his favorite thing is to lay around and watch the world go by. At six-years-old (has it really been that long?) he is now a real fat cat. I took some pics of my boys and if I get any time (always a problem) I should post some with the next week or so. Not to change the subject, but where would be the best place to store my photos? She learned how to climb up my shopping bag on wheels and get on the kitchen counter, she has been attacking my feet and ankles, and the power cords too, she had crawled up on the table by my easy chair and cleaned it off. I did put her in her kitty carrier while I put mail out on the box. Not going to risk any more jail breaks here. I need a nap and it's not even lunch time yet!!! :D
Winnie, please don't hiss! Nothing is wrong! And Miss Angel, you are a very energetic toddler indeed!

This is so funny! and so true!!! Even though Angel is only 9 weeks old, she is like a toddler. Now I know why women have babies when they are young. It's too exhausting trying to keep up with them when you are older. :D
Liz everyone is doing fine here. Angel and Chester even ate off the same plate at the same time. They finished before I could get my camera. :D
Grandma even sniffed Angel's face several times with no hissing!!! :)
Winnie is doing well too. I can hardly see her stitches and her tummy is getting fuzzy again. She still has a lump but it's way smaller than it was.
They say thanks for the prayers and well wishes. So do I! :D :love:

Chester, what a terrific big brother you are! And getting in the photos with Angel means I get to see all the more of handsome you, too
Somewhere in this thread I think I read that Winnie was wearing a collar so that anyone who found her outdoors might know somebody loves her. Winnie, if you had on a collar for everybody that loves you, I think you'd have collars all the way to the tip of your tail! Please stick close to home till you get to come inside for good.
MoFF, do you know how old Winnie is? She looks like a young'un to me. And how old is Chester? His black coat is so shiny and pretty in the playing-with-little-sis photos! Please give everyone some big hugs and kisses for me
Hugs,

Yes, Winnie had a collar but lost it Monday. She didn't even have it a week. So now she is naked outside. I decided not to get her another one. I don't want to risk her getting caught in brush that some of the neighbors have in their yards or anything.
The vet put her age at a year and half but we don't think she is really that old. She had two litters, including Angel's, according to another neighbor. She's probably just a bit over a year.
Chester is now 9 sneaking up on 10. Grandma is 15 now. They say thanks for asking. :D:love:

Yes, I can't trust her yet out all night. She still messes with "wires" and "cleans" off my stand by my chair several times a day. I need to be able to sleep some time. :D I think Grandma and Chester are glad for a break from that toddler too. ;)

Hey, I hear you on that.:D I'm just so glad things are moving along so well.:) I wanted to ask about the other cat, Lilac? Does she still come
for food outside?
Lilac did get to eat yesterday. I peeked out the kitchen door window and Winnie was on the old table on the porch and Lilac was sitting on the top step. I was hoping those two were becoming ok with each other. When I went outside though, Winnie went for Lilac.
I caught Winnie in mid air and put her in the kitchen because my indoor babies were shut out of that room, just in case Winnie ran in.
I fed Lilac while Winnie was inside. It worked out great for them but I was outside with no coat on. I did have a longsleeved flannel shirt on over my tee shirt though so I was ok.
After Lilac ate, she left but when Winnie came back outside, she went looking for her. I think Lilac was long gone by then though. Lilac didn't show up today. :(
Please, Gini, no saving angels award for me. There are still Winnie and Lilac that aren't settled yet. :(
Winnie got inside again this morning. Chester was in the kitchen this time. They skipped the hissing and went right to the growling and circling. Winnie was in the stiff neck, head tilted pre-attack mode when I got her by the scruff of the neck and put her outside. :(
I sure hope she settles down but she shows no sign of it yet. sign :(
Chester has been hissing at anything and one who moves since then, even me! so no award for him either! :(

Winnie looks beautiful. Check out those whiskers.:D I wish she would
settle down & let Lilac eat her food too. I feed two unaltered male cats on
my front porch, one at one end & one at the other end. They eat & then go their own way. Any attempt to fight & the food disappears.;)

Miss Angel is currently having her very first "time out". She keeps getting on the stand by my chair and chewing on things and knocking things off. I tell her Angel NO! and give her a tiny squirt with a water bottle. She was almost soaking wet and would still go back when she thought I wasn't looking. What earned her the "time out" though was when she got on the back of one of the chairs and gave a big leap and stuck to my cutains. She was almost at the top. If she pulls them down, I have a hard time climbing up to put them back up.
Funny but she is so much like Luke. He was the sweetest tempered of the cats but when he got something in his brain nothing would change it. He got lots of time outs when he was younger. Once they have time to rest a bit it seems to set their minds on something else. :D
