Can you stare at your dogs?

Can you stare at your dogs without getting a negative reaction?

I was just wondering because the subject comes up a lot at the dog park.

I can stare at my dogs and they do not go nuts at all. I can give them a relaxed stare or a serious stare or an angry stare and they seem to know what feeling I'm trying to portray. I also play chase with them and tell them I'm going to get them and they take it as fun play.

Some other dogs freak out if I stare at my own dogs or if I say I'm going to get them. I wonder if it has to do with their confort level around humans. You can definately tell which dogs at the park have trust issues with people.

Yes. I can stare at Casey. She will usually look away before I do. There is not a ferocious bone in her body. :love:

Believe it or not Chloe loves when I stare at her. She just stares back at me. We could do it all day.

I do all the time, they just avert their gaze..how long that takes depends on the dog lol

Depending on the stare Zoee will get all hurt and look away if she knows it's an angry/she's in trouble stare.
Taggart is a goofball and will end up in my lap, just like Harley. LOL

I can with both of my kids. They don't feel intimidated by it, and will only look away when they get tired of playing Mom's silly game. Obviously, they have better things to do with their time. Can't say that I blame them for that! :p

My girls equate staring with affection. I can't stare without offering plenty of pets and scratches.:D

I can stare at both Kia and Chips and they'll eventually look away. :D

I can and eventually they all look away but Bon. He just gives me the sweetest stare, you can see the love for me in his eyes.

I can stare at Remy. Honda didn't care at all. Lol She just fell asleep. Haha. But Remy is fine with it. Unless we're playing chase then she does her beagle howl if I stare at her. Lol And wants me to chase her.

Yep Sam usually lays down after a while or tries to start a game. My friends dog hates it when you stare into his eyes. He takes it as a challenge and gets rough and violent.

I could stare at mine all day and they would only lap it up. I often stare at them for long periods while just thinking, they either stare back , go to sleep or come and sniff to see if I'm okay, then I get a lick and they lay by my feet.
