Ed is a creature of comfort. He'll park his arse anywhere he feels comfortable.
So.......He's afraid of the vacumn cleaner, the clippers and hunches down when he walks in front of the floor fan. He's very funny when he does this.
The ear closest to the air flips down, followed by the head and the 'body dip', like he is crossing under an object.
Lately he has picked up the habit of laying down in the base of the fan, while it runs!
I laugh every time this happens. I checked the base of the fan, where he lies, the vibration isn't very apparent.
I'll post some piks when he curls up and forms his body to the base of the fan....that is something to see.....

I never get tired of pictures of the Edster! He is so gorgeous! As far as explaining it, he's a cat. That should say it all right there!

Now when did we start to consider "comfort levels"?
It's Kat-Like ~ that's all that matters to him.

Obviously Ed has become a fan of the fan!
Who knows with a cat? Maybe there is something soothing about the fan when it is running?
Binky lies by our fan, too, but mostly he will stay behind it.:confused: I'll have to get a picture of him in his "spot".
Maybe something about it ruffling his fur???:confused:

Well since it's also white, maybe he thinks it's his mama.:)
I have a few tower fans and lately I've caught Sunny lying beneath them and this morning he had his head on the base of it. I wasn't fast enough to take a picture of it though.;)

I can't remember who it was who had lunch in the Eiffel Tower every day on the basis that it was the only place in Paris from which he couldn't see the Eiffel Tower. Maybe if the fan frightens Ed, he is working on a similar principle?

You said that the vibration is minimal but maybe it's just enough that it's comforting to him, rather like a heartbeat. I dunno. He's a cat, therefore nuts. ;)

I have a theory - he likes the cool feel of the metal base. Even tho I have central air, Myndi likes to lay behind or beside the toilet in my bathroom, and the only thing I can figure, is that she likes the feel of the cool porcelain. She only does it in the hottest weather, so that's got to be why she will sometimes lay there. :p

Don't feel bad, I have one who likes to perch on the stove and watch while I clean the kitchen. He can sit there and amuse himself for hours. They're stange little creatures, all right!

This post just cracks me up every time I come in here the past couple days. The pics are great!
Tink will lay inside anything that is circular on the floor; a belt, a leash, a cord from a lamp, etc. I am not really sure I understand why she does that either???

I saw this today and laughed hard for a long time!
Last night I turned off the fan and when I went back to turn it on ED was still asleep on the base. He gave me a little stink eye when I interrupted his nap to power it up!:D

I got this off a blog. I'd not heard this story before. Thanks.
(Novelist Guy de Maupassant — who claimed to hate the tower — supposedly ate lunch at the Tower's restaurant every day. When asked why, he answered that it was the one place in Paris where you couldn't see the Tower.)
