I can't go on my vacation with my broken foot but I know a few of you are going on vacation.

Lets hear about your plans, where are you going? Lets hear from those that already went to.

My husband and I belong to an organization called the SCA, Society for Creative Anachronism. They hold their biggest East coast gathering the last week of July/first week of August about 2 hours from us, Pennsic War (this year is Pennsic War 38). 2 weeks of camping, medieval re-enacting type stuff. We will be heading up July 29 and coming back home August 4/5...haven't quite decided yet...I can not wait!

I hope you start to feeling better soon!

I've been trying to find out where they're located in my area for years. I finally got an email address but no one ever responded. I'll bet it's a lot of fun, isn't it?

Vacation...vacation...I vaguely remember the concept. Is that where you go away and do things and have fun and stuff? I haven't had one in 4 years and if I don't stop this obsession w/renovating my house, I'll probably never be able to afford one. I'm planning on a trip to England next year but I honestly don't know if it's in the budget. I do like to hear of others' excursions, so please do share, everyone.

My boyfriend and I are going up to the Lake Erie Islands for three days, Monday, Kelly's Island, then Put-in-Bay later on that day, Tuesday, all day at Put-in-Bay, then go back to Sandusky, stay overnight at a hotel, and Wednesday, all day at Cedar Point. We both are excited about it, we need a break and major alone time, haha. :) Considering the fact we live at our parents' houses.. which can be hard sometimes. I'm more excited because I have never been to these islands - but I've been to Marblehead/Lakeside... and I got him to take some time off work to RELAX! Yay.

We had an early holiday this year. We were away in June and we were learning to sail. We were in Greece for two weeks, around the bottom of the Peloponese. We stayed in a hotel for the first week while we did our four days yacht training. My husband has done some dinghy sailing before, but I hadn't done any type of sailing. The second week we spent living on the boat and sailing in a flotilla, visiting a different place every day. I did enjoy it, but because it was all new to me, it felt more like hard work than a holiday. :D

We leave on the 30th for a motorcycle road trip. We will head up the coast to Oregon. Cut over and go stay with my sister in Albany, OR for one night. Then head up to Seattle, WA to stay with Bruce's brother for two nights. After that we head up to Victoria, BC and we stay there for three nights. The entire trip will be 11 days. We come home on Sunday the 10th of August. That's a LONG time on a motorcycle. But I think it will be fun. We will only be on the bike for 4 to 7 hours a day with plenty of stops.

Bruce has it all planned out. Where we are staying and what time we leave and all that. I'm just along for the ride, apparently. :p The challenge for me will be packing light for that long of a trip.

I will (hopefully) take lots of pix and I'll make a thread when we get home. :)

Along for the ride, lol, I feel the same way! Mike planned everything out - What to do, what time, when to leave, all that jazz. We booked everything yesterday - So excited.

LOL, yup. I was on the phone with Slick the other night and she was asking me when I'd be in Victoria and I had no clue. Last night he booked us on the ferry to get to Victoria because she gave me a heads up. :)
But I'm not even sure what towns we are staying in. The only ones I know are Eureka, Albany, Seattle and Victoria. Oh and I think Lincoln City on the way home. But there's more places in there somewhere.

Either way, I'm sure we will both have fun on our trips. :D

I'm leaving Aug 1st for Hickory, NC to visit my brother. We'll do some sightseeing, and a lot of jawjacking, and I'll get in some relaxation too. I'll let Amtrak take care of getting me there and back, since I don't fly, and I don't feel comfortable driving that distance on unfamiliar roads by myself. I'll be coming back home Aug 12th or 14th in time for the grandkids birthdays which we'll celebrate that weekend. Tia will be 17 on the 11th, and Christian will be 13 on the 15th.

LOL that's great! :D Mike said that we can take the slower ferry up to Kelly's Island so I'd have some photography opportunities. I really, really hope those days will be of good weather! Mike isn't really huge on 'vacations' and it did take me a while to convince him he needs some time off and relax and life can't be always about work, work, and work.

That's going to be the difficult part. I'm only taking three pairs of jeans (including one pair that I will be wearing, so I only have to pack two pairs). I'll take maybe 3 T-shirts and 1 long sleeved shirt. We will be doing laundry at least every third day.
He bought these packs that go in the side packs on the bike so we can fill them up and just stick them in. It will be nice when we get to places because you just pull the whole pack out and go. And as far as all my hair products.... I won't be taking much. But my hair will be in a ponytail or hat all the time anyway. I'll have helmet hair constantly. It's going to be tough, but I will manage.
I've attached a couple of pics of what our bike looks like.
The bike looks very similar to ours. And the other picture is a pic of just the tour pak on the back that is also my back rest. Bruce also got a custom seat (extra large for me!!). And then we have nets that we can strap things to the packs, like our leathers when we aren't wearing them. Bruce will figure it out. The only thing that bums me out is I can't pick up too many souvenirs. :(

Bruce is the opposite. He looks forward to a vacation each year. Even if it's just going to our condo in Tahoe (which is what we've done the past two years).

Sounds like everyone has some great plans.

I had originally planned a small road trip for this summer, but it looks like that won't pan out this year... Hopefully I can do it in the spring.

My sister and I did play around in Northwest Arkansas for a few days. :)

My wife and I have been going to the Shades of the Past car show in Pigeon Forge, TN for at least 10 years. It is the second week in September so we will be going up on Monday and come back on Sunday. Pigeon Forge is wall to wall Street Rods for the whole week so we have started staying in Townsend, Tenn which is several miles away from the
crowd and we only go into Pigeon Forge at night when everyone is cruising the strip. We get to enjoy the mountains during the day and I may do a little biking, as in Bicycle. We Usually rent the same mountain cabin every year because Koko is welcome there.

I should be in Poznan, Poland right now! The trip turned out to be much more than we had anticipated, so we couldn't go. Instead we took a trip to Disney World in Orlando last March. Maybe we'll get to go to the Grand Canyon this fall. Both trips still won't cost half as much as Poland was going to cost.

In September, the 4 of us (hubby, me, daughter and doggy) are going to Maine for TEN days! We have rented a house that is right on the ocean, and we are going to plan 4 or 5 day trips. We rented this same house last year, and it is gorgeous with beautiful views from the master bedroom. :)

No vacation at all here, instead, a lot of extra work while my co-workers are on vacation. :(

Had this one week in June, but right in the middle of it, I was called to come to the office for a special job which ruined my vacation completely. My next vacation won't be before November, and I hope they won't disturb my peace another time!

Happy vacations to everyone! :)

I just had a last minute mini vacation last weekend. Decided the sunday or monday before that we were going to leave on friday after work to head up to Yellowstone. Spent Saturday at yellowstone, Sunday at the Tetons, and went white water rafting in Jackson monday then headed home. It was a blast. I've been on a couple of short camping trips too. Not sure what else will be in store, school starts in august so I need to get the fun in before that.

We haven't been out of the country for several years now, due to my backproblems :(
But... since I am MUCH better now, AND since we will be celebrating our 30th Anniversary on August 18th...........

we will be doing a great cruise to the Baltic States!!
Meaning:We will be flying into Kopenhagen (Denmark), on the 3rd day we will go aboard a cruiseship, Warnemünde & Berlin (Germany), Helsinki (Finland), St.Petersburg (Russia), Tallinn (Letvia), Oslo (Sweden), Stockholm (Norway), and then all the way to Rotterdam, from where we can return home by train!

In Kopenhagen we will meet our dear Randi!!!!! Woohoo!! And our sweety Fister!! I hope he won't be to scared when he sees us :D;)! There is already a cute tunnel in my suitcase for him!!

I cannot wait to go!! We will be leaving on August 8th, and back home on august 23th. I hope we will be at the captain's table one day, and hope it will be on our anniversary day!!:)

I just got back from a trip to Savannah, GA, and, Asheville, NC. Just my sister and I drove to Savannah. We stayed in a gorgeous hotel. We had lunch at Uncle Bubba's Oyster House(Paula Deen's brother). It was fantastic food. When we pulled in the parking lot, Paula's son, Bobby, was standing in front of the restaurant. He was talking and greeting people. While we were getting out of the car, he drove away. We just missed him. He is cuter in person than on tv. Uncle Bubba was inside the restaurant, talking to everybody. He is a super nice guy. Our waitress said Paula was there the day before, surprising all of them.

We left Savannah and drove to Asheville. We stayed with my daughter. On Saturday we went to the Southern Highland Craft Show. It was amazing! I never knew such talented people existed. The weather was gorgeous and we had a great time. I can't wait to go back.

On Saturday afternoon, I pulled one of my famous stunts and broke my foot.:( Now I can rest by staying off of it for awhile.

We spent a week in Hell...Michigan that is. This is the second year we have rented a cottage on Hi-Land Lake in Hell, Michigan. It is on small lake, and the owner's allow dogs, so it is perfect for us. The dogs love swimming and fishing and laying around inthe sun. This year they even took their first boat rides...both on a pontoon and in a kayak. Ralph's parents, sister and newphews spent some time with us, as did my parents, sister and neiceand nephew, and a few of my friends from work.

I am taking another mini-vacation in Sept. I have to go to Philly for work Mon-Wednesday, so I am leaving Saturday, flying to Richmond, Virginia to go to the NASCAR race. Sunday I am driving up to the MD/DE area to meet up with several PT members (check out the thread in meetings if you want to join us!). Monday I will then head up to Philly to end the fun, and go to work :)
