I feel so bad that I could cry. Tia - my granddaughter - left yesterday on a 10 day vacation with her mother and step father Joe. Their first stop was in MA to visit with Joe's family, and then they planned to go touring in the northern New England states, and then to check out a college in RI that she is considering, before heading back home.

I just got a call from my son (Tia's father), and Tia had text him and said that Joe's mother passed away this morning of a sudden heart attack. She was quite elderly - somewhere around 80 or maybe even older - but had not been ill recently. I had met her several times when she was down here visiting - a very sweet lady!

Such a tragic set of circumstances, but at least they got to see her one last time. I don't know what this will do to the rest of their plans - whether they will be able to salvage any of their vacation or not, or even if they will want to. I was just talking to Tia's mom on Wednesday when she cut my hair, and they were so looking forward to this vacation.

I'll say a prayer for Tia's grandmother and all of the family, as this is such a shock for them. If anyone would like to join me, I'm sure it will be appreciated.

Thanks all.....

I'm so sorry to hear that, Ellie. I know it must be surreal for everyone involved. It seems so strange that they came for a visit right before it happened. May she rest in peace. My thoughts and prayers are going out.:(

I am so sorry to learn of this sad loss of Tia's grandmother in the midst of what was to be a fine and eagerly-anticipated vacation.

That is indeed a blessing that Joe and his family got to visit with his mother again before she passed away.

Rest in peace, beloved mother, and my deepest sympathy to Joe and Tia and all the others who knew her and love her.
