Last night an old male pomeranian decided to visit us. I fed him and walked him around the neighborhood. Noone knew him but some neighbors think he's been running since Sat! They "assumed" he was the Pomi who lives up the street but that Pomi is a girl and this was a boy. He also had a big tumor under his belly, was peeing blood, smelled, was matty and had terrible teeth. Sigh.... If anyone wants an old Pomi, let me know He is sooo sweet and gentle and happy! Happy to eat, happy to be held (pew :)) and happy to go inside! He was calm and tolerant of Sunny and very interested in Bean. They touched noses. Pomi anyone?

Oops...turns out it's not a tumor. I didn't realize little dogs could have such big...ummm....testicles :)

I can't imagine anyone letting a Pomi run the streets, but it doesn't sound like he's been very well taken care of. Poor baby! Hopefully you can find him a home or a small dog rescue to take him in.

I had to laugh about his tumor (after you said what it was)! :D :D :D :D

Have you tried Pom rescue groups?

Goodness, he sounds like he's been on his own for a while, poor boy.

The Humane Society has him in case his owners try to find him. They won't let him get adopted before the 7 day waiting period. If his owners don't claim him by then, he will go up for adoption but I will keep an eye on him to make sure he is in no danger.

I called the Humane Society last night to check on Pomi. They said he had just been reclaimed by his owners who said "we had people watching him while we were away". I said "they did a lousy job". The lady from the Humane Society agreed.

With all the things wrong with him you described in the first post, I'm kind of surprised the Humane Society gave him back.

It turns out the "tumor" was his testicles  He wasn't neutered and that's why he was "peeing" (marking) so much and I'm not sure if it was blood or just dark from being dehydrated. I guess his general condition can be explained by him being loose for 3 days (except his stained teeth). We have a pretty good humane society so I have to believe they looked him over and felt he was ok. I'm going to go there this weekend and snoop around and see what else I can find out :)

I sure hope that his owners are responsible people. I felt so bad for the little guy when I read about him. :(

I wonder if they found time to give him a BATH before he got handed over?

Imagine leaving your pet in someone else's care while you went on vacation and came back to find out they were lost! I would be horrified.

I am fortunate that my son can watch Casey if I go out of town. :)

I know...what a nightmare! I leave Sunny with her CGC trainer and her 2 labs which is as good as it gets. She gets a 3.5 mile walk every morning! :)

I too would be horrified to find out that my pupsters were lost while i was off having fun. It happended to a couple that i knew and the kennel didnt try to find him and didnt contact the owners. they found out when they came to pick him up that he had been missing for a week. We take our kids to a friend, he also boards K9 police dogs for our force in the city. If the cops trust him with dogs that are that important, I think we can trust him with ours. :)
