After my guys take a poo, they paw at the ground like a bull and hop around and paw some more. Sparky does it most all the time, but Myndi does it quite often too.

Does anyone have dogs that do this, and anyone know why they do it? Inquiring minds want to know. :p

Zoee paws at the ground, kicking up dirt/grass, with her back feet. Is that what you mean? I think she is trying to cover it up. I've seen other dogs do this too. Maybe that's what yours is doing too? I dunno. LOL

Mine do it with their front feet. It's comical to watch them - those pint sized dogs acting like little bulls! :D

My Maggie does that all the time. She can fling a divit of grass
halfway across the yard.:) Smokey does not do this at all, never has.

I think the reason is they are marking scent, or covering scent like
their ancestors wolfs.:)

Yes, it's a "distribute my "mark" so I look like a BIG dog tactic left over from the wolf! I recently dog sat for a friend's two dogs, and one of them did that consistently, even in his own, fenced in yard!

My chihuahua does this. She also wants to pee right where one of the other girls just went. It's like she wants to cover their scent. You learn something new every day with these pups :)
