Rascal is a sweet cat that we rescued when a neighbor moved and left him behind. He has been a part of our family for over a year and until last night there were no issues. Rascal and Koko both usually come down to my Home Theater in the evening while I watch TV or a movie. Last night as I went up the stairs to go to bed I noticed Rascal sniffing the carpeted landing at the bottom of the stairs. I didn't think anything about it because he soon came up and I closed the door going downstairs. This morning when I opened the door to go down stairs I smelled cat spray so strong it just about knocked me down. I spent several hours spraying oxyclean and Fabrese to kill the smell. Later tonight I was down logging on to my main computer and evidently he sprayed all around there also. I don't understand what came over him. Nothing has changed in the household and he has never even peed or pooped outside of his litter box since becoming a part of our family. Kallie is our other cat but she hasn't been anywhere but our bedroom & masterbath since she went blind.

Does anyone have any ideas what might be going on with this guy:confused:

Time for a vet check, in case he's got a Urinary Tract Infection or something else going on! As nothing else has changed, that'd be my first guess.

Vet check! And forget about Frebreeze and Oxyclean. Get some Nature's Miracle, Simple Solution or Urine Out. Saturate the spots well and let dry.

Good luck at the vets.

Thanks for the advice. I will schedule a trip to the Vet ASAP.

Yes, Rascal was Neutered about 7 months ago.

I guess I should be able to find the Nature's Miracle, Simple Solution or Urine Out at Petco.

I hope that Rascal checks out ok but it does sound as though it might be a URI. There's also a product called Urine Gone that you can buy nearly everywhere now and it's great; gets the odor out completely.
