How old is 'old'?? Indoor cats have a lifespan between 15-19 years of age.

If your cat is in the upper range of that you may want to have your vet check her out to be sure there isn't some sort of age related problem causing her not to use the litterbox. Anything from arthritis, to UTI, to dementia can be causing the problem which your vet will be able to help you with.

As for getting the odor out I personally use Vet Solutions Stain & Odor Eliminator, although many people here have had great success with Urine Off, and Natures Miracle.

First thing you need to do is rule out a UTI or some other underlying medical problem through you veterinarian.

I have a senior cat, Mollie Rose, age 15 who is very thin (I attribute it to age) and I keep my eye on her for anything unusual. She is still drinking alot of water and using the litterbox quite a bit as well. But my vet said this is normal for a cat her age.

Please take your kitty to a vet and have her checked out. It'll definitely give you peace of mind.

:( Poor Baby.. Yes I would have the Vet check this baby out for UTI.. You can buy sprays for pee oder & or use Coffee WeT Grounds or Lemon Juice.. Leave each of choice on the carpet to soak in & then clean up.. Anything with acid & or engymes will work..

Distilled white vinegar has worked for me. I've also used Nok-Out which is available online and at cat shows.
