has gone to the Rainbow Bridge this afternoon. I got him from PAWS when he was about 4 and he made it to 13 until cancer finally couldn't be denied. He was diagnosed back at Christmas and had lost weight then. Today at the vet he said that he would just continue to waste away. I decided it was best to let him go now while he wasn't in those last stages.
He will be missed more than I can say. I loved him so much. I've had cats all my life and over the last 30 years have had to deal with this same loss...it never gets easier or less painful. I'm a bit of a lurker here and have posted occasionally in the dog and cat sections but I just wanted Charlie's life to be known and celebrated.

I am so, so sorry on the loss of your beautiful cat, Charlie. My heart goes out to you. I agree, it never does get easier.
I know it is difficult to say goodbye to a pet you held so dear. I pray and hope that you find comfort and peace in the fond memories you made together.
Our pets are a gift from Heaven, but we don't get to keep them nearly long enough!

What a beautiful boy that Charlie is - and always will be. I'm so sorry that you had to let him go, but I admire your strength and wisdom to let him go now, before the cancer destroyed him any further. It's never an easy decision, and I believe that sometimes we hold on too long for our own selfish reasons - we just can't bring ourselves to let go when perhaps we should. Bless you for helping him to The Bridge now - I'm sure he loves you all the more for it.
RIP beautiful Charlie. Run free and find lots of new friends and adventures, and find a way to let Mom know that you're happy and waiting for the day that you'll be together again.

What a Handsome Man you are Charles, the very personifiaction of the Owesome Orange Cat.
Your family is sad that you are gone, but it wont be furrever , you are going ahead to scout things out and make thier transition to Paradise easier.
The Animal Angel Army is hosting a Friday Wing Ding Party at Michaels Inn, with wings from the Anchor Bar in Buffalo, and Charles will get the first bucket to honor such a Great Cat.
And he will be with you in spirit when you need him the most , until you are all reunited in Paradise.
One Fine Day.

to everyone who replied to my Charlie's passing. I don't post very often and no one on this board really knows me and yet there were so many kind and comforting replies which goes to show what kind of great people are on PT!

What a handsome boy! I am so sorry for your loss and know how it feels to lose such a precious and wonderful friend. We lost one of our boy kitties to cancer too. Charlie's life is surely worth celebrating. He must have been a great friend and feline companion for you and I know you'll miss him much.
Charlies looks a little like Dewey, the Library cat in the picture in my signature.
