View Full Version : Ah yes, the glamorous life of a cat mom

As I was doing my daily cleaning routine, I came up a droplet of "something" on the basement steps, too thick to be water, so I used a tissue to clean it up and then sniffed it: mucous and not nasal, if you get my drift. Sigh. So I went around to each member of the Fur Posse and did the sniff test. Nothing. Then I wiped. Still nothing. The litter boxes showed no evidence of blood or mucous or runny stools, so I don't know what to think. If you had told me when I was a teenager and knew everything and had delusions of grandeur that I'd be sniffing cats' behinds when I was older, well, you know what I would've said. I'm hoping that this is a one time occurrence. I pray that it isn't Pidge. Of course, I don't want any of the Fur Posse to be sick but especially not Pidge w/her heart issues.

Very glamorous indeed! I can just picture the protest coming from the kitties as they were each picked up, sniffed, and then put down! :D

Thats is scary when we Multi Cat households suddenly find something suspicious and we are afraid that it may be something danderous or contaigous!
We are praying that its not anything to worry about, and a special prayers for Your Precious Pidgie!!!

Yes, I always like that too - because after you do the sniff test - that odor is in your nostrils for the rest of the day.

I hope everything is alright.

I'm sorry Mary, but I couldn't help but laugh at your post. Don't get me wrong, I pray that this is only a one time thing, but I can just picture you going around sniffing your cats butts. I've never done this and I pray I will never have too either. LOL!!!!!

I have a wonderful picture in my mind now, of how this played out. :D Find cat #1 - lift tail - take a whiff - release cat #1. Find cat #2 - lift tail - take a whiff - etc, etc, etc. I would love to know what the Fur Posse was thinking - maybe "has Mom finally lost it?":D

Me, too! I hope every kitty in the Fur Posse is healthy and it was just a one-time thing.

It appears that way. Everyone has been fine since then. So I did all the behind sniffing for nothing.

I would say that I've never sniffed a cat's butt, but then I'd be lying. Sometimes you've just gotta figure out who the "stinker" is, LOL
