Doing a happy dance - I'm just thrilled.
I just paid off my car. I only had 3 payments to go, but just couldn't wait that long, so took care of the balance now. No more car payments - how great is that??? And I have no intention of buying another. I've got a 2003 Mazda Protege 5 in perfect condition with not so much as even a scratch and only 64,000 miles. I bought it new so I know how it's been maintained. I don't do a whole lot of driving, so it should last a good long time. I just knocked on wood with that statement!! :D
I'm going to have to go to the DH bar in a while and have a drink to celebrate! Happy-happy-joy-joy..... :D

Congrats! I will probably always have a car payment because I like a newer car. I would rather know I have a car payment than a surprise car repair.

For sure...but I have a 3 year/36,000 mile warranty. Woo hoo!!!
There is definitely something to be said about saving money and keeping your car though. I have trouble saving money though. :(

Congratulations! It is a wonderful feeling for you I'm sure. And even better since you were able to do it early. I have a friend who makes her last car payment this month. I couldn't do it. I get so anxious when I owe something. It almost makes me sick literally. I know that for most people it is a fact of life, like it or not. My friends make fun of me because I have "piles" when I set aside money each month for specific things. I have a car fund. My first car was an '86 Chevy Nova named Agnes. She wasn't pretty, but she got me around until I could save up for the next car. I've worked my way up doing that to my current car 2009 Mitsubishi Galant that is fully paid for. It wasn't easy, but it is nice to know that if something happens with my work situation, no one can come and take my car from me. Being self-employed, I appreciate that. I promise I didn't mean to hijack your thread, I just wanted to let you know that I am proud of you! Enjoy the freedom from car payments!

Congratulations on paying off your car! It is a wonderful feeling to get rid of debt. I have to confess - we bought our last vehicle in cash, too Moesha, a new 2009 Toyota Tacoma. No car payments is a wonderful thing!! Enjoy, Ellie!!:D

Congratulations, Ellie!! I have two more months left on my current lease. After my payment goes in on Monday, I'm going shopping for a new car. I'm also a person that has to drive a newer car because I'm so afraid of a breakdown. Even though, I know a new one can be a lemon too.
I hope you celebrate. It is a great feeling!!!!:D

Ellie,
There's something about not having a monthly car payment that makes ya feel GREAT!!!!!!!! My car's been paid off for over 2 years and it's wonderful. My insurance is cheaper, the taxes are cheaper. The only downside is that once the car is paid off and the warranty has expired, things start going on the car. But ya know what?? That's okay. I'd rather pay here and there to keep my car running as opposed to sticker shock on a new car, not to mention taxes and outrageous insurance payments.
Congrats!!!!
