I have recently moved in to a new house with my boyfriend and after a couple of weeks we found a cat in our back garden. As she was very skinny we took her in.

I'm a bit worried as whenever she comes to me, whether it be when I'm sat in a chair, at the PC or lay in bed, she constantly licks my clothes.

She doesn't do it with my boyfriend or any one else when they visit, nor does it seem to matter what I'm wearing so its not one particular item or clothing.

Is this normal? Why does she do this?

Any advice welcomed. Thank you.

Not sure why cats do that but my 3 youngest (Josh, Sassy, Sabrina-littermates) all do that. Only it's not just clothes. They lick furniture, carpets, shower curtains, the hair on my head, hands, pretty much everything is fair game. They don't do it constantly but very very often anyways. They seem healthy and happy otherwise so I don't worry about it as long as they're not eating something they shouldn't.

Usually, the suckling is a sign that the cat was taken from it's mother too early. It's an indication of comfort and contentment.

It's a sign of affection.:)

I hope it's a sign of affection! My Pinot-girl licks moisturizer off me as soon as I put it on, and she also tries to get at my husband's deodorant. Your kitty is probably trying to get to something you put on your skin.
