Oh I do hope this passes! And can I take their medical expenses as well? ;)

Quote from 2d article:
Let's begin a national dialogue on this issue. As author Louis Sabin said, "No matter how little money and how few possessions you own, having a dog makes you rich." I will take his statement a little further and say having any pet of our choice enriches our lives.

Bad idea. Real bad idea. How many people who are abusive or neglective or shouldn't even own pets are going to go out and get animals if this passes? How many people who have a dog who lives outside under a car and they throw it dollar tree food on the ground once or twice a week are going to get tax credit for this? As much as I could use the money, I think this would do much more bad than good.

Good thought in some ways, but I doubt that it will ever happen. The only thing I think would stand a chance, would be for service animals, if there isn't already some type of exemption for them. I honestly don't know if there is or not, but there really should be IMO.

:) Yes I understand your point.. However that just hurts us good people that do spend lots of money on our pets.. I wish there was a happy medium..

If only you had to pass a test in order to own pets.

:) You know that could go both ways.. I also think that lots of 2 legged parents should have passed a test before having conceived.. I still think that there is more of us parents that take better care of our 4 legged children than most take care of their 2 legged children..

I would imagine in order to prove you were taking proper care of them, you would have to furnish vet & food reciepts (as well as other costs). You can't claim something you can't prove.

If all that would be required is food and vet receipts, then I'm golden! LOL I'm sure there are people who would take advantage just as there people who find loopholes for everything nowadays, so that shouldn't stop it from coming about but it probably would. I could definitely use a tax break as could most people. Perfect world: I'd love to see it happen but I doubt that anything will ever become of it. We can dream, though.
