Today was a good day! Not only was the judge super pissed at him for violating her instructions from the last time he was there, but it also made her decision alot harsher. Bail for the gas station robbery was set at $2500. Bail for FTA (Failure to Appear) was set at $10,000.

His next court date is set for May 7th. We WILL be there, front and center.

When the marshalls brought him into the courtroom, he stopped dead in his tracks and gave us (animal rights advocates sitting in the first two rows) an EVIL look!!!! I flashed my "Abuse An Animal, Go to Jail - That's The Way It SHOULD be" shirt at him smirking the whole time.

Stay tuned!!!!

Wow, that's great, Donna. Somehow I missed the gas station robbery story. Anyhow, he's in jail and that's a good thing. A small bit of justice for the cats that he's harmed and/or killed and prevention of his harming and killing others.

Good riddance to bad rubbish! And I hope the other inmates give him an enthusiastic welcome :mad::eek:;) (such that he won't be able to sit down in comfort for months).

Did you make that t-shirt yourself, Donna, or are they sold someplace I could order one from?

The shirt is from another cat killing some 6 years ago. I actually have 2 of them in case one needs to be washed. It does get the point across and believe me, if I had a camera (or they were allowed in the courtroom) I would've gotten a picture of this jerk.

My gut feeling tells me Jay Baldwin will go to jail for a long time. May 7th can't come fast enough. At least he's off the streets right now.

Continued to May 21st...

The first two rows were taken up by my fellow rescuers as well as the victims, Irene Hudobenko and Joanne Martino (Baldwin's former landlady). We file into the courtroom in an orderly fashion, listen to the court proceedings and we file out in an orderly fashion, saying nothing to anyone.

I'm sitting there, quiet as a church mouse, my hands folded in my lap. There's this one little marshall, a woman, with what I perceive as a "napoleon complex" came over to our group, looks at me straight in the eye, points her finger at me, and says loud enough for all to hear, "And there will be no comments from you!" I look behind me to see exactly who she was talking to and I asked her, "Who me???" She says, "All of you ladies."

When she first came over, she was looking at my shirt, "Abuse An Animal, Go To Jail, That's The Way It SHOULD Be" and I thought she was going to ask me to turn it inside out (which I would've politely refused). I was shocked at the whole incident. She said it so loud that the judge looked over our way and so did the prosecuting attorney, as if we were causing a fuss (no one had said a word). We did notice that the defense attorney went into another room with that particular marshall, before she approached us. That leads me to believe that Attorney Gables had a hand in this.

The defense attorney told the judge that an agreement has been put on the table and he will need to consult his client with the offer. We have no idea what agreement has been reached and will find out on the 21st. My gut feeling is that they're going to have him do community service and put him back into the Pretrial Diversion Program for the second time (it's a 2x offense kind of program, like 3 strikes you're out).

First thing I did when I got out of the courtroom is I went and spoke with the Supervisor of the judicial marshalls and made a complaint. I told him about the incident and he said he would call her into his office and speak with her.

Since it was a verbal complaint, I don't think anything will be put into her file. So everyone in our group is going to write a letter to him, confirming what I had told him and telling him that if this happens again, we will be consulting a lawyer for harassment.

This is getting old real fast. These rent-a-cops need to chill and get some people skills.

You might want to tread lightly with this ... that Judicial Marshal holds full police powers
while on duty; and MAY very well be *Good Buddies* with the Judge she's
assigned to.

I did absolutely nothing wrong, and feel that she is abusing her power as a Judicial Marshall. We were all sitting there saying nothing so she was out of line. Everyone that was there with me agrees and they have all drafted letters to the Supervisor of the Marshalls. We have also contacted a lawyer to make sure we're doing things by the book. The lawyer said that it is harassment and we have every right, as citizens, to be there under no intimidation.
