Hobo was a feral cat that showed up at our house about five years ago and stayed. The vet thought he was about 3 when we took him in to be fixed. He was a very sweet and loving cat and could usually be found on top of my wife. He had a rough life before finding us because one of his ears had been damaged. It just gave him character.

Since being on PT we had decided that our 3 kitties needed to be indoor only. This had not happened yet and Hobo was not on his usual perch on the back of the couch this morning. We have a lot of trails on our land that I built for Mtn Biking so we went out searching when he had not showed up by about 10 this morning. While walking our trails we found him dead about 20 feet off in the woods. He had one small head injury but there was no evidence that he bleed where he was found. I guess we will never know what really happened.

We will miss this sweet big boy, Rest in Peace Hobo.

Talk about LES. It's bad enough when one of our furbabies are so sick that we have to make that dreadful decision to have them PTS. At least we usually know what is wrong with them, but to find your precious pet dead outside and not knowing what happened, is just too much to bear. You must have gone through so many questions, like, did something attack him, did he suffer, was he trying to make it back home, etc., etc.

How my heart goes out to you and I pray and hope that you find comfort and peace in the fond memories you made together.

What an absolute handsome picture of your boy Hobo.

Rest in Peace dear boy, and enjoy your time up on the RB.

thats a terrible shock to find your beloved hobo dead in the woods. i have found Porchies Scratchy and Porchy dead from auto related causes , and have had to have Ebony Beau Tubster, Orange blossom and Roadblock PTS when they got too ill.:(
Hobo was a great Cat , and now that he has his wings of Silver and Gold we know that he will fit in very well with the Aniimal Angel Army in Hawaii.
And he will remember the great family who loved him, and who he loved in return and will find a wonderful place in Paradise where they can all be together.
One Fine Day.

What a gorgeous big cuddle bunny - looks like he was ready for tummy rubs that were his for the asking.

I don't know if a vet could give you any ideas as to what happened...it is so horrible to not know.

You took him in when he came to you, and he had the best life possible, and more love than he had ever had before.

Play happy at the Bridge, Hobo, and let your people know you are ok.

I heard a while back that "Hobo" is short for "Homeward Bound". He found his home with you.

Thanks Everyone for your kind words. Hobo will be in our fond memories for a very long time. My wife is especially having a hard time with his passing because they were very close. I got the head butts from time to time but she really got the love from this big guy. RIP HOBO .:love:

Hobo was a big, handsome fella and I can only imagine how much you'll miss him. He looks like he was quite the friendly one, too, ready for a belly rub at a moment's notice. He led the life of an independent cat, something that I wish we could let all cats do. You gave him a good life and love that he otherwise would not have gotten. Take time to heal your heart. RIP, Hobo. You will be sadly missed.

I like what Catty1 said about the meaning of "hobo!" He sure found a special place in your home and your hearts....Sleep softly, dear Hobo....
