I took sweet Cassie into the vet this morning....I've never had to do this before, and I prayed for the strength to not only take her but to be in there with her when it was done. God is good for He gave me the strength to do both. She is now happily romping at the bridge with all of her friends, dogs who came before her, and. of course, all of her new Pet Talk pup friends....I know she is wagging her tail as I type. Thank you for all of your kind words this weekend. You all are the best support ever!

I've made this decision, and stayed, 5 times now. It never gets any easier. I know how much this hurts.

Bless you for helping her at the end. Run happy and free, sweet Cassie!

Rest in peace, spotty girl. You made a huge impact here on Earth, and now you are pain free and able to run and play again.

And, of course, your page from when you were Dog of the Day will always be here. (http://DogoftheDay.com/archive/2008/September/12.html)

She's not in pain anymore. She's happy and comfortable. I'm sure she was really glad to have you there those last few minutes.

LES here. I have not had to make this decision and I hope I can find the strength like you did when that time comes for one of my kids.

RIP Cassie Girl

My heart is aching for you. I'm so sad and sorry to read about Cassie. It's amazing the courage we get when we have to do devastating things. Cassie was relieved you were with her. She's free from pain and suffering and waiting for the day when you're together again.

Thank you to all my PT friends...your kind and thoughtful words do help. I'm so glad we got Boomer when we did, too....I think he has helped the transition, too, especially for my kids.

I'm sorry to come here and read this sad news. But she isn't suffering anymore. As I often say, I hope that happy memories of your time together will help your hearts heal. And get extra hugs from Boomer to help you as well.

Play hard at the Bridge, Cassie. Look in on your mom and family and let them know you're doing ok.

I'm so sorry. I know this is the most difficult thing in the world. It's a pain like no other. I can imagine Cassie running free at the bridge now. She was a beautiful spottie girl.:( My RB guys and girls met her with open paws.

Rest in Peace Cassie :( You are sadly missed.:(

I'm so sorry about Cassie. What a beautiful family dog she was. I saw pics of her with your kids growing up and I know you all have a broken heart now. She was a model family dog and a lovely girl.

She's happy now and will always be thankful for the wonderful life you gave her. Rest in peace, dear Cassie. You were such a good dog and you lived such a good, long life.

I am so very sorry for your loss. She will always be with you and trust me she is waiting for you when it is your time. You gave her a great gift by letting her go and being there with her during that time. God bless you.

Shannon,

Thank you for emailing me to let me know. I am so sorry! I have been away and just got your email and the news. Cassie had a wonderful life with you and I'm sure she enjoyed the last year with Boomer (even if she wanted to act like she didn't :) ). I am glad you have this wonderful support here to help you through it. You (and Cassie and Boomer) have become a huge part of the PT family. I think it's so sweet that Karen put a link to Cassie's dog of the day thread in this thread. I know Boomer is helping you through this difficult time and yes, Cassie is up there at Rainbow bridge with Stryker, Sydney, Max and allllllll the other dogs who have known the love of a PT member (PT dogs ARE the most loved dogs, ya know:).
