Lyra is 9 months old today, and I wanted to share some more pictures. She had her 9-month check-up today, and she was 28" and 18.5 pounds.

Lately, it is all about play, play, play!!

I thought this picture was funny.

And a few from Halloween. My nephew Kenny, Lyra, and my husband. (If you're wondering, Eric has fake blood on his face from his scary costume...)

We, no surprise, adore the bunny costume the most! ;) Amazing how fast they grow and change, isn't it?

Aw, the kangaroo is adorable! But, I think I like the chicken the most! She's so pretty! And, 28 inches, wow!

Thanks for the nice comments! :)

I thought it would be fun to think about what we will be getting our babies for Christmas. I'm not going to get too much- Lyra doesn't understand and she gets stuff all the time anyway. But I thought some books and maybe a push-toy (I like this one (http://www.amazon.com/VTech-80-077000-Vtech-Sit-to-Stand-Learning/dp/B000NZQ010/ref=pd_sbs_t_1)).

What ideas do you have for your little one?

Clara and I will be heading to South Carolina from the 5th to the 15th of December, that's our Christmas gift! Anything else is a perk, but I'm sure she'll get stuff from her grandparents. I'm not sure what we'll get her, but maybe one of those exersaucer things. :)

Lyra is such a cutie - I can't believe she's 9 months old already!

Last year for Ty we opened up a savings account for him and put some money in it. He got a lot of toys and clothes from other people, and he really didn't know what was going on. He is 2 this year (2 today actually! ) and I am really excited for Christmas this year. He loved opening birthday presents :D

Lyra is so beautiful.
I already got my baby Laura a Christmas gift. It's more of a keepsake. She's too young to understand toys and whatnot so I got her a 18 carat gold Italian charm. I will try to take a picture of it today and post it. It's an L with a braided circle around it.

Hee hee - is Tyler's hair curly, or is that from you washing it? Poor aboosed baby, mommy's getting her all wet! ;)
It's just the wetness making it look curly, but Kyle is convinced she will have curly hair like mine.. we'll see!

Congrats Kari!!

Tyler just had her 6 week checkup! She is now 12 lb 1 oz and 22.5 iches!

If you swaddled your baby for naps and/or bedtime, when did you stop swaddling? Clara definitely goes to sleep better when she's swaddled, even if she sometimes struggles a little bit initially. I'm just curious about other's experiences with swaddling.

prechrswife
11-24-2009, 07:46 AM
Mine kind of let me know about swaddling when they started wiggling themselves out of the swaddles. It wasn't anything we had to wean them off of or anything. Just when they were consistently fighting it, we stopped.

And a few more recent ones...

Tyler was 12 weeks old on Boxing Day, and she weighed 14 lb 8 oz. She has really extended her vocabulary. She talks constantly. She is such a good baby, always smiling (and now beginning to laugh), and she loves to have conversations. She enjoys watching me work, and she LOVES to go to the pool. Her eyes are definatly going to be my colour (blue) but she's really looking like both of us.

Awesome photos! I cannot wait to get indoor lighting so I can take those kinds myself! Your photographer did a great job! Tyler is a big girl! Cute as a button too! Her eyes are beautiful! We still can't really figure claras out yet! They look like my family's in the shape and it's really beginning to look likey mom's color. They are kindof green hazel.

You are so pretty!

Great pictures. She's certainly a happy, healthy-looking baby!

Remember, moms, babies eyes can change color and not settle for a long time! Lady's Human's son, Axel, was blue-eyed for most of his first year, they didn't settle on their final color - dark brown - until he was almost 2! We thought for a while he was going to have hazel eyes, like many of the family, but eventually they stayed dark!

Lyra likes to look out the back door and play with the curtain (which as you can see, the cats also enjoy playing with), and she gets really excited if one of the dogs are outside looking in. Kind of funny! You can also see her blankie she carries around these days.

Thank you! Lyra starting sitting up well on her own at around 7 months, and she began rolling everywhere around 8 months. Then, she started crawling backwards, and finally crawling frontwards at 9 months. She pulls herself up on the furniture and cruises now, but doesn't walk yet. It doesn't stop her from getting into everything though!!

When do we get to see some new pictures of Laura? :)

(By the way, I was totally shocked that the Scout toy had Lyra's name for download! It's a cute toy.)

What kind of background and lighting did you use to get her Christmas photo? It turned out so beautifully!

We have some thick black curtains for the basement windows to keep out light (because my husband has a projector/home theater down there) that worked really well for the background. We taped up one on the dining room wall, where one whole wall on the other side is a big sliding glass door. That way, we were able to use all natural light. I know my brother edited the photo a little bit (he's in graphic design) but he didn't have to do a whole lot. The curtains worked surprisingly well.

Hey everyone, just a little update on me. I am 31 weeks now  and time is flying by. Baby's room is pretty much done, waiting on my glider to arrive though. Baby shower's are coming up and I will add any finishing touches after those. The pregnancy has been overall uneventful, let's hope it stays that way. Baby is really high and prefers the right side and wedges some part of its little body right into my ribs....ouchie. March will be here before I know it and the little one will be joining the family. The dogs seem to finally sense something is up, they are quite clingy at times. They still think they can lay on my belly but it hurts too much so they have to lay at my side. I have been sleeping pretty well, minus the nightly trips to the bathroom though and on that note I am headed to bed. Hubby and I are headed out of town for the weekend, only going to Orlando but still out of town, so I need to get to sleep so I can gather our items in the morning. This is most likely going to be our last weekend away as just a married couple with no kids.

Ahhhh, enjoy the getaway! If you think you're not sleeping now... just wait, it gets worse..... but then it gets better, much better. Did the baby turn yet? Beenie and Frankie did the same thing.... I think Beenie knew from very early on but Frankie was the more clingy of the two. He seems to be more afectionate and curious toward the baby too. Oh, I am really excited for you. Have fun on your trip. :)

Also, I wanted to let you all know Old Navy is having really good sales right now. They are offering an additional 50% off clearance items, and I got a ton of nice things (2 pairs of pjs, a coat, 2 sweaters, a dress, 4 shirts, and a pair of pants) for Lyra for only $35. :)

Clara is doing so well! She is such a sweetheart! She's over five months old and eating rice cereal from a spoon every morning for breakfast. She can hold herself up if I place her hands on the side of her crib, but hasn't started pulling herself up. She is very mobile although not crawling. She scoots and pushes on her belly. She puts everything in her mouth and seems to know her name!

Happy birthday, Lyra!!!!

I can't believe I'm writing this, but as Lyra is becoming less of a baby and more of a toddler, I find myself thinking it might be nice to have another baby someday (though not anytime too soon). The reason I'm hesitant is because our family seems just right now, and I can't imagine loving anyone else as much as I do Lyra. Plus, for me pregnancy was not fun.

But, I also think it would be sad never to have another baby in the house when it has been so fun. And, I think only children are absolutely fine but I personally enjoy having a sibling (even if I didn't always get along with him growing up).

I'm just curious, why did you decide to have more than one child? Or, if you have one now, are you planning on having more or not?

I totally want to have more children...and not just one more. I would love to have 3-4 kids...but I do want to have at least a 2-3 year gap between them. I'm really enjoying having a baby in the house and just KNOW I will miss it when my little one is no longer an infant.

I think I want more kids for the following reasons:

I want a sibling for my child to grow up with, play with, and have fond memories of...because I cherish my childhood memories of my brother.

I enjoyed being pregnant and I'm loving every moment of being a mom.

I want a decent sized family...always wished I had more siblings.

Jill, we want at least one more. David and I will be 35 and 34 this year, so we need to get cracking, although we both want to at least wait a year or two between babies. ;) I'm with you on the fact that our little family seems so perfect! But I do think we would feel the same way if we had more children.

I loved being pregnant, am loving having a baby in my home, and I love my brothers and being an aunt, so I would like for Clara to experience at least the sibling part, and god willing, the nieces and nephews! I also lived part of my life as basically an only child, and have to say that I have very find memories of that, too! So if we only are ever blessed with our little girl, we will all be just fine. :)

I have 2 brothers so I was sure before we even started having children that I would want more then 1. If Vincent was a girl I may have tried again for a boy but since I've got one of each I'm complete with my perfect little family. I must admit that Vince was the best thing to ever happen to Quinn. She's a very maternal little girl but she is seriously the most amazing child with Vincent. She is so, so tender and loving to him and he's finally old enough that they can play together. He is her best friend.

I think it's important to have a sibling, even if they don't always get along. I think it's an important part of childhood. It teaches so many wonderful lessons and I wanted my child to be able to share her life with another child. I'm so, so glad I did. It's music to my ears to hear them playing and laughing together. It's a LOT more work at first, especially since I had mine so close together (Q had just turned 2) but worth every sleepless night :)

We always knew we wanted more than one child, and when we discussed it prior to getting married, we were thinking 3 or 4, leaning toward 4. Then we had trouble conceiving and adopted dd #1. At that point, we figured we would have 2 because we really thought we could only handle the adoption process one more time. Well, God had other ideas because now we have 2 biological children, for a total of 3. Our children are (unintentionally) close in age, but even though that is tough, it is wonderful. They always have playmates nearby. Our girls are the best of friends. We are debating adopting again in a few years, but we may be done at 3...we're really not sure yet. If we do adopt again, though, we plan on adopting a child a little older (3 or 4 years old, most likely), as we are in our late 30's now, and are pretty much done with the baby phase.:)

Happy 1st birthday, Laura!! She is looking so grown up already! You have a beautiful little girl.

Oh, wow! Look at all the pretties...Tyler is GORGEOUS! I know it's been said a billion times, but her eyes are ridiculous. But, from the photos I've seen of her momma, it's obvious where she gets them from!

Lyra is such a pretty little girl! :)

I love all of Laura's hair and that dress is really cute! I love dresses for pictures, but just for wearing...forget it! Maybe when Clara walks, I'll put her in them more often! She has some really cute ones!

Clara turned one on August 21. She is phenomenal. I just weaned her from the breast to the sippy cup this past week. It went very smoothly and quickly, way easier than I expected.

She's an excellent eater, and I'm proud to say she hasn't eaten any junk food and only a couple things that even need an ingredient list. YAY! I'm keeping her food as basic and natural as I can for as long as I can! She loves eating with her hands, and isn't very picky.

She's not walking, yet, but she got a couple push toys for her birthday and has been walking with those...so she's on her way! She is a super crawler and cruiser, though!

She's not forming words at this point, although she said mama months ago. She doesn't say it anymore, but she does "talk" a lot more, now. Just not making any recognizable sounds. She's watching the "Your Baby Can Read" DVDs that our neighbor let us borrow, and she really likes them. She started clapping as a result of them.

She is generally sorta pokey with her milestones, but nothing that sends a red flag, yet. She still has only two teeth, but she is cutting the two top ones right now. :)

I saw where Leslie posted photos from facebook...I'm going to see if I can post that way, I have never tried!

bummer...I can't figure out how to post them from facebook...

It sounds like Clara is doing so well! I hope we get to see some new pictures, she must be getting so big!

It's amazing how quickly babies are not babies anymore. Lyra just turned 19 months old a few days ago. She is running, talking, and likes to think of herself as completely independent, so she's definitely not a baby anymore! Here's a few recent pictures.

All you have to do is right click on the photo from facebook and copy and paste the properties like you'd do with a picture from photobucket. And put the [IMG] tags on it.

I have a mac, now, and there is no "right click" on my mouse haha. I'm not sure how to do it from the mac. I prefer a mac over a pc, but i've not used them as often, so it's like learning a different language. ;)

I just looked it up! I should be able to post something soon!

Yay! I figured out how to "right click" on my mac haha. I knew what I would have done with a pc, but now I'm straight. ;) This was about a week ago...eating an avocado! She puts her finger into the stem hole, and it keeps her busy for quite awhile! :) I love her smile. :)

Off-topic for the thread, but you can use multi-button mouse with a Mac. That way you can right click.

Oh, cool! That's good to know! It's an easy thing, though, once you learn what it is! I don't even know if we have another mouse right now! That makes sense, though! I love our wireless mouse and keyboard, though!

Any updates about other 2009 babies? I would love to see/hear about them!

Lyra will be 2 in just a few months! Here's a few pictures of her recently:

Lyra carries this baby with her everywhere. She is a very doting "mother," except when she holds baby by her hair. haha

Lyra is such a beautiful little girl!!! They grow up so fast!!

My little baby is growing quickly too. He is 11.5 months now. I can't believe how fast the year has flown by. He is not walking yet, but he loves to hold onto the furniture and walk around it. He already loves grandma's cooking (lol)...and insists that she feed him something whenever we go to visit.

His favorite food is cheddar cheese (and mommy's milk), and he LOVES to talk. He tries to say many words, both in English and Urdu. When I ask him what the duckies at the park say, he says "tatatat". (his way of saying quack quack quack). When he sees toy cars, he says "rrrrr". He is truly the best thing that ever happened to us and we love him so much. The birds on the other hand are still unsure of him, but he loves them!!! I can sense that he will be an animal lover. My little baby boy.

PCB, that's so sweet of your son! :D How cute that he says tatata to show quacking! My nephew says baaooo for the barking and when we say that what does your little brother do he smiles and wah! uuwaah! as his little brother used to cry a lot! those days :p It was really funny seeing him imitate his brother :D:love:
Finn's mom, she looks so lovely with that smile :) Such a lovely baby

It's been a while since I've seen any updates to this thread and was just wondering how the other 2009/2010 PT babies were doing. :)

I thought I would share a few new pictures of Lyra.

Animals are, of course, her very favorite thing! We are either visiting a zoo or aquarium or she is at home playing with all her animals.

Hi Lyra!! As always, she is just a doll!!! I can't believe how fast our little ones are growing. My son is 17.5 months now. He LOVES to talk. Throughout the day, the word "BALL!!!!!!!" echos around our house. LOL! He loves to kick balls and has so many little ones that are perfect for his little size. I can totally see myself signing him up for soccer practice in the future if he continues to be like this. Its so cute seeing him kick his balls and cheering for himself.

We just started potty training, and so far he is doing well. I don't think he has bladder control yet, so we keep diapers on him, but every time we take him to his potty seat, he does something, so he is learning where it needs to be done. ;)

He LOVES Elmo...which is really funny because we don't even own a TV and he has never seen Sesame street, or any other show. His toothpaste tube has an elmo on it, and that's what caused the obsession. He now has Elmo toothpaste, and an Elmo book that he gets to look it when he sits on the potty. Elmo is helping me a lot. My child did not like to brush his teeth, and the elmo toothpaste changed that. He did not want to sit on the potty, and the Elmo book changed that. Children fall for the most random things.

I love my baby boy. He has brought such joy into our home, and is growing so fast, though he is still, and will always be my little peanut. I can't believe how fast time is flying. We have already started 'talking' about baby #2. omg

Baby M is still breastfeeding and we're planning to continue until his 2nd birthday. I guess that's my update.

Lyra is gorgeous! I love seeing her photos! Clara is the same about animals! :)

Baby M sounds like he is doing what he should be at 17 months! Being awesome! I would have liked to have kept breastfeeding Clara longer (I stopped at 13 months), but she was an aggressive nurser without teeth! ;) She even eats solid food she likes by shoveling it into her mouth. She always nursed like she hadn't eaten in days! No can do with more than two teeth haha!

Clara is awesome, she's 22 months today! She's super sweet and loving, enjoying cuddling way more now than she ever has. She loves bows and dresses, but also likes to play in the dirt and collect rocks. She isn't hyper, but she's always on the go. She loves books, and she likes watching TV, although I limit it to about 30 minutes a day.

She talks a lot, but isn't quite at the "normal" level in her communication. She's in speech therapy, but it's mostly to teach me how to encourage her to use words to express her needs. Everyone who's worked with her says it's all attitude, she has the developmental capacity. ;) She just doesn't want to.

I post photos so irregularly here . . . I never can remember how to do it. I'll figure it out and post some shortly.

Baby M sounds like a busy little boy! That is so funny he loves elmo just from a tube of toothpaste- I guess you never know what kids will like sometimes. :)

Clara is such a cutie! She's going to be 2 soon! I love that she likes dresses and dirt both. :)

Glad to hear the updates. Lyra is gorgeous and baby M is growing so quickly. We are running out of baby here too! Laura is obsessed with Elmo and it's because of the toothpaste too Haha. She does watch sesame street but is interested only in the second half (with Elmo in it). She will be 2 next month. So crazy.
Kari, Laura isn't talking much either but I know she will catch up. She understands everything I say and I guess it's because we spend so much time together I usually give her what she wants/needs before she has time to ask for it.

Yeah, I had to stop anticipating her needs, and she talks a lot more now. We use a few hand signs, too. I'm not overly concerned about her speech, though it is nice that she talks more. ;)

I love Laura's hair!

Clara and Laura are just adorable! I love how they look so innocent at this age!!

I forgot to add, Baby M loves our tiels, and goes running to see them every morning. He calls them 'birdie', (sounds more like 'buh-duh' lol), and when we ask his "what do the birdies say?" he tries to chirp! He knows a lot of body parts (eyes, nose, teeth, tongue, mouth, hair, ears, tummy, belly button, hands, and feet), and will point them all out when asked. He can say nose, eye, and teeth, and keeps pointing mine out when he's cuddling. He's also obsessed with his daddy, which is really cute!

It's great that Baby M loves your birds- do they feel the same?
