We were expecting a new Foster Zoe to come in but an emergency collie just came in and they are rushing her to my house to start immediate treatment on this poor girl. We are saddened by what this owner has let her get to but this is why our rescue steps in. Here is this poor girl. Looks like a very busy weekend for me. The owner surrendered her to the pound and asked that they put her down. Just another irresponsible pet owner. This just sickens and saddens me and Pi$$e$ me off.

OH. MY. DOG! How can you stand it, Tim? I'd be trying to find that owner and tear him limb from limb.
So when does this one arrive? Is this all mange or something else?
God Bless you as you begin work with this dear one.

It shows all the signs of Mange but won't know till monday. I just want to give her a Oatmeal bath and give her a capstar just in case it was fleas and go from there until Monday. We will get her scraped and take a look under the scope. If it is Mange I will give her a Amitraz power wash bath and start some holistics on her to boost her Immune system.

Oh, dear..... Poor girl. I am so glad your rescue saved her.... She will thrive in your care. I hope if it is mange, that it is demodex..... But I hope it is nothing serious. Please keep us posted. I know how difficult this is for you and how angry you are....sometimes I just wish I can go and knock some heads....but I have too many rescue babies to care for that I can not end up in jail! LOL! What is this gal's name?

It's criminal for anyone to let an animal get in to such a state as she is in. That poor baby. Here's hoping that you can nurse her back to health quickly. I have a soft spot for collies and shelties - they definitely are "Majestic", beautiful dogs!

OK I went and got the white collie today since noone else wanted to. She has no Name so we quickly came up with ginger due to her colorful spots. I will get her to the vet asap but I think positively she has Malassezia Infection. (Yeast infection) Highly treatable with high Immune holistics and a natural diet. We bathed her with a medicated shampoo and then drenched her with baking soda mixed with water to cut down on the itching. She ate real well tonight and is in good spirits. She is very sweet and lovable. She is 6 yrs old. Here's Ginger at my house.

I am just horrified at the condition of this sweet girl. Please take good care of her and give her a hug and kiss from me. Makes me so sad. No dogger deserves to be neglected like this.

Any idea on her age? How on earth can a mature dog have NO NAME? PLEASE tell us there is a criminal case against her former owners in the works.
Hello Ginger, glad you are in good spirits! You are going to start feeling better dear lady. Just hang in there, you have arrived at Tim's Health Station!

That poor sweet dog. I just don't understand how anyone could let her get in to such horrible condition.
And I also was wondering about her one eye. Is there a problem, or is the camera just making it look that way?
Hey there Ginger. Get feeling (and looking) better soon - okay??? I'll bet you're going to be just beautiful when your coat grows out and your skin is better. You're even beautiful now!!!!

The vet today has determined that she could be nine yrs old. She does have a slightly rolled back left eye. She also has a heart murmur. She's eating well and feeling better. The first thing the vet wanted to do is nail her with Steroids. We said no way and settled with cephelexin for now and a increase in Omega 3s with a holistic diet of no grains. Tested negative for mange and didn't seem like a yeast infection. Possibly just a bad skin allergy from poor diet. She is not malnutritioned though. This little girl wieghed in at 56# We are trying to track down who turned her in so we can find her vet records and her real name. She has come very accustomed to Ginger though. Maybe I made a good guess. She is so sweet and loves to play fetch.
Good on you sir.
Beautiful Collie you took in.

The poor girl's fur looks so rough and matted and painful! Some love, good food, a good brushing and the meds will likely do wonders for her.

Ginger will be a beautiful dog once her hair grows back right. I have always had a special place in my heart for collies since I use to have one... Good luck w/ her...are you gonna keep her or find her another home?

I hope they can find her previous owner & at least make sure they never own another dog again. That is so wrong.
So glad she's with you now, you obviously see her for the beautiful sweet spirit she is. Will keep her in my prayers.
