Photo gallery here, if you are interested. He bought a Beaver Tail...:D

http://www.cbc.ca/photogallery/news/1990/

I like photo 12 - he seems to be looking at Harper with a "don't mess with me, Bucko" expression. :D

since i thought beaver tail had formerly been attached to a smaller mammal, i checked google, and sure enough it wasn't (insert relief smilie here). they are called elephant ears here in ohio, are a fried dough pastry, often sprinkled with sugar, cinnamon or other toppings. thanks for the link catty, intresting seeing how other countries see our president.

Thanks for the link. I enjoyed the photos. One thing I heard that distressed me - he admitted he had never seen a hockey game. Does he have any idea what he is missing?

It's okay, Grace - we'll drag him back here for the Stanley Cup! :D

Alas, not all of us are blessed with the opportunities to see live hockey games here! ;) I'm not sure Kansas even has any places to play hockey other than in Kansas city. ;)

I have seen them on tv though. They look like fun to see in person.

Thanks for sharing the pics with us. :D

I used to watch tons of college hockey, and got to see the Devils live once. Hockey in HD is the next best thing!

Not to put hockey down but I bet he has other things to do besides watching hockey. ;-)
We are so lucky to be here to watch one of the greatest moments in history, shows what a person can accomplish when they set their minds to it.

I think most Presidents have met with Canadian leaders, at least every President since Canada became a country. Hardly a great historical event.

I don't think shepgirl meant that Obama meeting with a Canadian leader is a great historical event in and of itself. I think she meant that Obama becoming President of the US is a great historical event.

I've never seen a hockey game either.

If its for the reason I think your alluding too, Martin Luther King is rolling over in his grave. I dont think Dr King followed hockey either.

However if your referring to how fast President Obama increased the National Debt compared to any other President, Ill agree that is historical.

And if I ever trap a beaver I will fry up the tail.

Care to elaborate? Or are you just acting in a belittling and insulting fashion yet again?

*Edit*

Since your being condescending...

Someone posted this on a CBC blog about Obama's having tried a Beavertail, and how there was a special one with a chocolate "O" on it (one was even sent to the inauguration).

Tim Horton's must be miffed by the selection of the special Obama Tail with the O of whipped cream. Timmy made a store full of O shaped donuts to honor the president...

canada was recognized as a seperate nation on july 1 1867, warren g harding (of ohio-my suprise there in seeing he was the first) was the first american president to visit canada, in vancouver april 26, 1923. now since harding grew up in ohio, and since we get lots of cold weather here off to find out if he saw/played/watched hockey.....
*ETA* the date was the first official visit by an american president i could find. teddy roosevelt likely traveled there given his love of adventure, just not as the american president. and harding high school in marion ohio has a very good hockey team

Not really surprising as Teddy Roosevelt was the first sitting president to travel outside the United States in 1906. It just wasn't "done." He went to Panama I think.

Wow.... I butchered that up proper. LOL Babelfish is never kind to me. (I assume you used that to translate?) 20 mins of figuring out how to say that and I am hosed by a couple of clicks. LOL

Sauger.... Should have been SUCKERS! Ungefahr (missed a umlout "a") means "estimated".

Oh you will have lots of change. ;) Isn't it swell, now that Congress gave him the Democrat reward bill of 2009, at a mere cost of about $2,000,000,000,000 in deficit spending.... (Sorry Hannah, you don't get the chance to pursue happiness...) He goes and proposes higher taxes on the "rich", you know... The people who actually makes jobs.

It has never worked in the past and it can't work here. But they will get what they always wanted. A equally MISERABLE "working class".
