For me it is the bus. I find people are more willing to talk to me and ask questions on the bus. From what breed Sheena is, what type of Service dog to even what type of food she eats. We even discuss the pros and cons of spay/neutering. A lot of good has been acomplished in these bus conversations.
So where do you find you do your best educating?

I find a lot of time when we take Chopper out on the Harley during our stops people are always amazed to see a chihuahua who is not shaking and trembling constantly, wearing clothes and doggles and who will allow everyone to pet him without snaping or growling. I then get to go into how well socialized he is and why dogs that behave that way have their owners to blame, not the dog. I push socialization for this breed every chance I get. I have no problems when someone comes up and says wow my chihuahua does not act like that, he barks all the time and doesn't like anyone, I just come right out and say then he was not well socialized. They might not like the answer but it is the truth. I have turned a lot of people into chihuahua lovers once they see how the breed can really be with the right guidance. I so hate when he is stereotyped by "oh a chihuahua", but so love it when they see what a chihuahua really is. I have even had people ask what breed he is. When I answer chihuahua I get the o_O look and they usually state, really, wow, I have never seen one so calm and quiet and friendly. :D then my speech starts all over again.

For me, it'd have to be at the shelter where I volunteer. A lot of people are first time dog (or cat) owners and I can share my knowledge (a lot of that knowledge learned right here on Pet Talk :D) with them. From crate training and potty training, to the best toys and beds. I also share my own experiences with people and the mistakes I've made and learned from (the hard way). And I like that we do not "force" people to purchase things at the boutique. I've sent plenty of people to the nearby pet store or Costco for items.
At the same time, I've learned different things from other people that come into the boutique as well. Things I can pass on to others. :)

Librairies , schools , and in senior retirement homes. Going to the programs where they hold sessions for kids with reading difficulties amazes most of the adults who see how much better the kids do when reading to an animal.
