View Full Version : What would you ask your cat if it could talk?

Thinking about what it's like being a cat, I'm coming up with another question now.

If you had the chance to talk to your cat and it could reply to... ehm, let's say three questions, what would you ask?

I think I would ask her if she's happy, if she knows how much she is loved and what she thinks about living with humans.

I would ask her if she would like another cat as a playmate, what she sees when she looks so intently into the dark yard at night, and what she does all day when we are gone.

(Speaking of looking intently. Last night my husband had dinner ready when I got home. He was sitting across the table from me and looking at me so intently. Thinking -- dinner and now looking at me so...what is it dear? His reply....I'm looking at the TV in the other room.  Oh well.)

What would I ask....hmmmmm...Tubby, why are you always so tired in the morning, what is it that you do all night to make you so tired first thing in the morning? When he is yowling like he is lost I would ask him why he does that. And I would ask him to please cooperate when I'm giving him his pills as I know it's not pleasant having a pill shoved down your throat, but it's for your own good, so could you please just open up, or better yet, I'll just put the pill on the floor and will you please just eat it?

Peanut I would ask what she thinks of us silly humans when I'm giving her tummy rubs and talking silly to her. She probably thinks we're a bunch of goofs, but as long as she gets treats what does she care. ;) :D I would also ask her why she runs when we try to pick her up and pet her and why she won't come up by us in the evenings.

And I would get them both to tell their daddy that they would just love another brother or sister to play with so I could get another kitty. ;) :p I've seen an all white one in the neighborhood lately that I've never seen before. I think it belongs to someone though, which is a good thing, but seeing it running around makes me want to coerce it into coming in our house for some food.....:)

You both made a good point! I think I should also ask Luna what she's thinking about getting a kitty friend to play with. :)

I would ask Tex...why do you throw up and are you in discomfort? Then, I would say, why do you stalk Georgie and Nevvie (my mom's cat)? Then I would say, don't tell anyone, but do you know that I love you best?

To Georgia- why are you such a scaredy cat? Do you really love cantaloupe? and, don't tell anyone, but do you know that I love you best?

To Tenny- how did you get to be such a big lover? Is Dakky your best friend? Don't tell anyone, but do you know that I love you best?

To Dakky- why do you kiss me all night long? Is Tenny or Allie your best friend? Don't tell anyone, but do you know that I love you best?

To Allie- Why are you such a brat? Why do you stand on my head? Don't tell anyone, but do you know that I love you best?

To Minnie- Who did this to you? Do you know that I would never ever hurt you? How can I make you better? What is your favorite food? Do you like the other cats? And, finally, don't tell anyone, but do you know that I love you best?

hmmmm....

To Scout--why are you obsessed with getting outside? I found you hald dead ouside, don't you think you're better off with me? And, why don't you bother to cover your poop in the litterbox?

To Gigi-Little girl-Why must you always *help* me clean the litterbox? Do you know that it is annoying to have you knock off the scoop what I just scooped out?! And of course, who do you like best, Mommy or Daddy?(I have to ask that because technically she supposed to be Joey's kitty, but I'm the one who takes care of her.)

To Bixby-Why are you obsessed with licking my face until I think the skin is going to peel off? Do you know I love you, but sometimes you're overly affectionate?

And to all of them when they sneeze or cough...Are you feeling ok? What hurts?

Gigi knocks stuff back off the scooper??? How funny is that! Mine always wait until I clean it, then christian it- usually with something non-liquid...:(

I have often thought about what I could ask if my cats could talk to me for a day.

I'm just interested in knowing what the fascination with paper is! LOL LOL Why do cats like to find a scrap of paper, no matter how miniscule or large it is, to lay on??!! LOL :D

For Scooter, I would ask:
Why do you fuss so much? Are you in any pain? (he has bad UTI troubles frequently...so far so good...fingers crossed!!) Why do you pee on the floor? We would let you have free run of the house with Marius if only we could trust you not to pee on the floor!! LOL
Of course we would tell him that we love him too:)

For Marius, I would ask:
What is your history? (before he came to me)
What's the deal with your shoe/foot fetish?
How can you be so cute??!!! LOL LOL He's my baby...I love my little Marius head:)

Since all 5 of my cats are rescues, the first question I would pose to each one individually is this: "Please tell me about your life before I found you!" because I would be so thrilled to know the history of each one!:)

Second question would be whether each kitty is now happy here, and what if anything I could do differently to enhance their comfort and well-being.

Now for the third question . . . actually, it would be more of a communication to them that if they are ever truly ill and feel the need of a vet they must show me a specific, mutually agreed upon signal; perhaps crossing the front paws or some behavior my cats normally do not do . . . since cats are so cunning at hiding their health problems, this could be a lifesaver.:)

I would ask Corkscrew if he is mad at me for bringing him a new little sister. If he was happy living with me. And why he always does things that he knows is wrong.
I would also ask Tibby if she was happy being with me. If she loved her brother Corkscrew and if there was anything else I could do to make her feel more welcome in her new home.

No need to worry. There are so many duplicate threads about various topics from declawing to what kind of cat you have to names, to ..etc etc. It happens a lot around here, especially if you don't know a similar thread already exists! It's a fun topic and it's still fun to talk about! :) Thanks for bringing it back up again!;)

**hugs**

P.S. It's so nice to see you posting on the boards again! Luna is just a doll! :) I love her website! :)

I would ask Kylie:
1) Just what did the boyfriend do to her before I got her so my "friend" won't marry him.
2) If she misses her sister Shaianne.
3) If she is happy and if she knows she is loved.

Good topic!

Eddy: why do you always go upstairs and sleep all alone in the bedroom? where did you leave your beautiful collar with the little flowers on yesterday (   )? do you have a lot of pain?

Rudie: tell me about your life on the streets. would you mind another cat in the household? can you please brush your teeth?

Randi

I'd like to ask Fister:

1. Are you bored? Would you like a new kitten to play with?

2. Which Cat Pension would you prefer to be in, while we're on holiday?

3. When we let you out in the yard, could you please come back no later than 11.00 PM?

4. Do you HAVE to come up every evening in bed and sit between our heads and wash yourself??

5. Do you know WE LOVE YOU!? (I bet he does!) :D

wolflady and toughCookie... Ah, it's okay, I'm relieved that I did not offend anyone! :)
You know, for a while I've been posting on another board (not cat-related) and they had very strict rules about things like this. Even when it was months ago, they would close your topic and link you to the other one instead, they made you feel bad all the time. Not a really nice place to be and for sure not the way my own boards are moderated. And I'm glad that this board isn't like that either! :)

And I see, everyone has really interesting questions, shows how much we all care for our furballs and how much we're interested in their purrsonality and the way they feel. :)

But I do talk to Juni and she answers. OK ;) I pretend that I understand when I want and that I don't understand when I don't want and she does the same. I am sure, I know the answer to so many questions to her. Esp. if she knows that we love her and if she loves us. That's obvious. Why would she sleep on my head then  and kiss me all the time, and have that beautiful tail like an antena when we come home?
Well, I would have some questions to her, but they are so many. OK, here's one, what did her father use to tell her all the time, because they were always talking. Here's another one - whom does she like more of the tree of us - me, my sister or my brother? I am sure, she knows exactly how much each of us love her, so I won't ask her that, I ask her that everyday - if she knows how much I love her (more than my I love my boyfriend. It's ok, you can tell him that, he knows it already):D

You told your boyfriend that you love your cat more?! You're a real cat person! :D

Kirsten

Vio&Juni
09-19-2002, 10:15 AM
I didn't even need to tell him that. He knows it and he had to accept it. He loves Juni too and she loves him back.

Kirsten
09-19-2002, 10:18 AM
So he's not offended? :)

BTW, it's not that I can't understand you! I'm that kind of person who prefers to share the home with a cat instead of a guy!

It was out of the question to have as a boyfriend a cat-hater. He himself has adopted two stray cats. And, Juni already has my unconditional love, while he has to earn it first. Anyway, he's newer, so he has to stay in line :D

RICHARD

what is it with the mirror? (either he admires himself or does the
nails-on-chalkboard thing...)

how do you keep your head from flopping over while you nap?

why the attitude after a trip from the groomers?

how can i fall asleep that fast?

and finally-
first ham, now bacon.......what's next? steak?

My husband tells me (almost daily) that he's convinced that I love Rudie most, than Eddy, Cookie and Dunja. And when there's enough space left over for the day, he gets a little love too.

LOL, Vio, I like your way of thinking about cats and men!

Richard, you're right! I often envied my cats for their ability to fall asleep from one second to another! LOL

I just got the "Sure, you'd rather have him by you than me." thing the other night when I was calling for Tubby to come up by me. I like it when Tubby lays on me while I'm watching TV, and Terry doesn't really like to snuggle, so I told him that and all I got was the grumpy, pouty attitude back. :D :p

I would ask my grandmother's cat why he keeps insisting on eating lizards though they make him very sick?

I would ask Felicia
1 When you use the litter box, why do you have your rear end so close to the edge?
2 Would you let me cut your claws? I promise I won't cut one and make it bleed.
3 A you happy here?

I would ask Beau
1 Why didn't you like to be in cat shows?
2 Are you happy here?
3 Why do you go in the bedroom and meow until I come in?

Kirsten

lovemymaltese, the cat is eating lizards though they make him sick? Hmmmm.....

And@Felicia's Mom: LOL, I know this problem with the litter box, same here, and sometimes things go over the edge, if you know what I mean! :o
