Hey all I havent posted in a while and thought I would update on the latest news.Well it turns out that Pip Squeak my male fishers love bird turned out to be a female. How do I know this? Because a couple of weeks ago she started laying eggs! I was so amazed Total she layed 5 eggs. (I did my research On fishers lovebird breeding they lay 2-6 eggs each batch and the eggs if fertile hatch in 20-26 days) So It has been a couple of weeks now but we have chosen NOT to candle the eggs because we do not want to take any chances of her not takeing care of the eggs anymore. She sits on them almost all day and night occationaly coming out. for food When her Bud is out of the cage. The eggs are in a wodden teil nest box. They should be hatching any time around Christmas who knows mayb they will be Christmas chicks! (once agin if they are fertile) Since laying eggs the cage ahs been moved VERY CAREFULLY to a calmer and more confined area (my room) hardly in there so it was the best place for them. (and the other reason we have chosen not to candel them is because the box is in the cage hanging from the top so we weould have to move the box in order to get in and we think there is to great of a chance that the eggs could roll and break against the side :( ) I'll keep you all updated on the eggs progrestion. By the way Pip squeak is the lovebird on the left in the picture of them both.
