View Full Version : Prayers for my Grandma...

I love my grandparents more than anything in the world.

I got a call last night from my mom saying an ambulance had taken my grandma to the hospital. She had been throwing up constantly for two days prior, and because of it, she was dizzy, couldn't walk or see straight. My grandma is a very tiny, frail person... maybe 90 lbs soaking wet. So this was a cause for concern right there, because it doesn't take much to make her sick or dehydrated.

They admitted her to the hospital because her fever had spiked--twice--to 104 degrees. She was shaking, kept saying she was soo cold, but they wouldn't give her blankets because of her fever.

Long story short, they think it was an infection that they had been previously treating that they didn't treat "correctly"... she's terribly sick, her fever went down to 103 when my grandpa left last night, and I haven't heard anything since. I know she had an ultrasound a hour ago, so I'm on my way up there right now with my cousin to go see her. I just wish they knew what was wrong with her so they could make her better. :(

Add to that, I broke up with my boyfriend, I've made some decisions that I'm starting to second-guess, and I'm not doing well in school... I know its not much, but when my grandma or grandpa get sick... my whole world gets shaken. They're getting to that age where anything can happen... my grandpa had cancer for a while, but is currently in remission... it's just so scary to think about losing either of them.

I know PT prayers ALWAYS work, so if a few of you could just say a few prayers that my grandma gets better and can go home soon. Thanks.

I went and saw her today. She's doing better, the ultrasound came back fine, and her fever is down. She's still going to be there for a couple days because of the infection (they're thinking untreated bladder infection I guess?...) but other than that she seems to be doing okay. Her hands are pretty bruised from the IV's and its so sad to look at her hooked up to IVs and monitors... =[

Thanks for the prayers you guys.

I'm glad she's doing better, but she'll still be in our prayers.

Good to hear that your grandma is doing better.. It's NEVER easy to face that sort of thing in your life.. hope she gets well enough to leave to go home. :)

A bladder infection can quickly wreak havoc on the body if untreated, so now that they've got things under control, you can take a sigh of relief. People always look so much worse than they actually are when hooked up to IV's, etc. so I know how scary it must have been for you. Prayers are going up that Grandma will continue to improve and that you'll feel better, too. :)

I posted this in the Prayers thread as well...

Grandma is still in the hospital. I haven't heard much yet, but they do know that she has an infection in her blood from an untreated bladder infection. Which seems kind of sketchy, because aren't bladder infections pretty painful? :(

Her fever has gone down, but it goes back up to 102-103 every night. :( Any idea why this is?
