There are two threads, one for favorite Christmas song and one for un-favorite Christmas song. Can I please ask, what's your favorite Christmas film(s)? My family was talking about this on Thanksgiving and we came up with several.
My favorite "new" Christmas movie is Elf, with Will Ferrell and Zooey Deschanel. My all-time ever favorite Christmas movie is "It's A Wonderful Life". I haven't seen the movie of "Polar Express", but I love the book.
Anyone else?
Thanks,
Elyse

Me too!! And that's why I was Cindy Lou Who for Halloween this year. Well, also because tons of people call me Cindy Lou Who. :D
I also love the classic movies; Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer, Frost the Snowman, Santa Claus is Coming to Town and The Little Drummer Boy.
My mom's favorite is It's a Wonderful Life.

White Christmas with Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye. It's on tonight!! I also love National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. It's the kind of movie you can watch over and over without getting sick of it.

I must admit, I have never sat through the whole movie (i.e Its a Wonderful life)... it seems to bore me a bit in the middle, but I do enjoy the ending!
In A christmas story, I always laugh at the little boy in the bunny outfit! I bought one for Billy kitty just because of that show:D
I love Cindy Lou Who... Could she get any cuter??

A Christmas Story
A Muppet Christmas Carol (for that matter most Christmas Carol movies)
Christmas Vacation
How the Grinch Stole Christmas - both movie and cartoon
Bernard and the Genie
I also love to go the University of TN Theater to see their production of A Christmas Carol. We haven't been for several years so I'd love to go this year to help me get in the spirit.

I'm not really sure. All I know is that I absolutely hate the one with the kid who wants a rifle for Christmas. I will never ever sit through that one more time.

I love A Christmas Story (we have it as a 24 hr marathon over here on the one TV station!!! :D ). I love Christmas Vacation as well.
I have a thing about the Polar Express, and Olive, the other Reindeer. They are based on books, and I just have issues with movies made from books. They never follow the story exactly, and that ticks me off. I mean, the Polar Express is 32-48 pages long. How are you gonna get a MOVIE outta that one?! I just refuse to watch them.. :p  Maybe if I saw the movies before I became a librarian and didn't know the book, I'd be better about it, lol.

I didn't know Olive was a kid's book. I saw the cartoon one year and I like it because it wasn't 'cartoony'-the drawings were off and not in the typical cartoon style.
Yep, it's better to see the flicks first.:)
The other thing is the way a director makes his version of a movie.
Polar Express just creeped me out. I didn't like the way the movie looked.

The one that comes to mind is the version of A Christmas Carol with Alistair Sim as Scrooge. I like that one.

There is not a particular movie that comes to mind, but I love all the classic christmas cartoons (the ones from the 30s & 40s). I always managed to catch them on TV each year while growing up.
My favorite was always "Christmas Comes But Once Each Year".
I would absolutely love to have this (http://www.amazon.com/Classic-Christmas-Cartoons/dp/B00008G7ED) DVD! I just might buy it for myself this year. :-D

1) The Alistair Sim version of "A Christmas Carol" (or any version of that story). 2) Bing Crosby's "White Christmas". 3) "It's a Wonderful life" (because Jimmy Stewart and my father went to the same school in Indiana, Pa). 4) " A Christmas Story".

They filmed the "Grinch" movie out here in Simi Valley, CA. The housing was built next to the hills, a flipping purple color that you could see from the freeway and you could not ignore it. I remember driving past it and knowing what it was-out here any huge production that throws the world out of balance scares everyone-and wondering what people living in the area thought.

Another two movies that I saw and loved are, "Merry Christmas, Mr Lawrence" That was a movie set in a POW camp run by the Japanese during WWII and
"Midnight Clear", that movie was about a truce between American and German soldiers during Christmas, Quirky movies but worth a look!

1) The Alistair Sim version of "A Christmas Carol"
This is my all time favorite, too. There is also a 30 minute cartoon of "A Christmas Carol" but I haven't seen it in years. Brief but very good.

My favorite version of a Christmas Carol isn't a movie. I have a hour-long version of it on a CD starring Lionel Barrymore as Scrooge. It was produced by Orson Welles who had produced the broadcast that scared everyone called "The War of the Worlds".

All the Rankin & Bass Classics
A Charlie Brown Christmas
How the Grinch Stole Christmas, the animated one.
White Christmas
Original Miracle on 34th Street though the remake wasn't bad either
The Polar Express
Anything Muppets ie; Muppet Christmas Carol,Muppet Family Christmas, Emmit Otter's Jugband Christmas. I know there's a new muppet Christmas movie that just got released to DVD but I haven't seen it yet.

I generally shy away from Christmas movies. I did, however, quite enjoy "Bad Santa". Don't know what that says about me. . .
I love the Grinch cartoon as well. I have the VHS and a CD of it being read by Boris Karloff with the songs from the cartoon as the rest of the tracks. Love that!
I also have Patrick Stewart reading "A Christmas Carol" and I play that every year. . .I never get tired of it.
