Poor Blossom was picked up in Foster RI as a skinny old stray. The vet has estimated her to be 12+ years old. She was once someones cat as she has a spay scar. Sadly, no one is looking for her :( Blossom is quiet old lapcat who purrs very loudly with contentment and enjoys human companionship. She does get annoyed with other cats who come too close to her. But doesn't seem to mind dogs. Blossom has been diagnosed with hyperthyroidism, which is a treatable disease. Right now she is on 1 pill a day and you just put it in her wet food and she swallows it no problem. No having to shove a pill down her throat. She is gaining weight and her fur is becoming soft and silky again. The shelter is willing to pay for the meds & routine blood checks if someone is willing to let her live out her days with them instead of dying alone in the shelter. Blossom still has spunk left in her. She will follow you around when she's not sleeping and loves attention, petting and giving headbutts. She's not ready to leave this world just yet. Email kcammack1@yahoo. com if you can be of any help for this poor cat!!

I wish I could, but with 13 and another coming Dec 7 I am full. I thought that 12 was my limit but I could not say no to Dimetri and now I have a 17 year old with green eyes comming, still havn't told my wife, I am a big, big sucker for green eyes. My house is not much bigger than a trailer you can think of it as a double wide but vertical.

Gill, where did you find the posting for Blossom? I live in RI, about 20 minutes ride to Foster. If they are willing to pay for her hyperthyroid meds, I could swing it! I have a full house too, but if they are paying that one expense it will make all the difference. I've had 2 cats who needed that.

Was she posted on petfinder? Or someplace else?

Now, Helene, don't go jumping the gun!

I did find her on Petfinder, and I did send in an email asking about her, and a few questions. Will see how this develops.

Dad is out at the senior center just now; he is gonna have a FIT!:p

No reply to me email inquiry as yet.

That particular shelter is not open on Fridays. They are open Saturday, I will take a drive and see if I can learn anything.

Wow, that would be great if you could swing it, Sandie. Blossom looks like a real sweetheart. What a wonderful Christmas story that would make. :)

I was looking at her wishing I could take her (but you all know how mine fight!) and read all the updates. This would be so nice if Blossom could go to a PT home! I am keeping my fingers crossed for this beautiful girl!

 to you Sandie for considering this. She is so sweet looking!

Dad and I discussed and we just can't adopt her at this time.

Sorry to get everyone's hopes up.

Well, hey, we do what we can, y'know? Your heart was in the right place, Sandie. No one can fault you for that.

You considered it, and you weighed your options. That's so much more than most do. You have such a huge heart, I know that you're probably upset over not being able to do this.

No one has claimed that beautiful 12 year old yet?? I'd being willing to give her a furrever home as well. I also need to know if they're willing to foot the bill for the meds as I'm on a limited income.

Let me know.

Thought I would update on Blossom. She is not at the shelter, she is in foster home. She went in for more blood work last week, will get the results next week. She is drinking and peeing a LOT, so likely already has some kidney disease.

She does NOT like other cats, so she has to go to a home with out any. She is in a room by herself at the foster home, as there are 2 other cats there. She stalks them and starts a fight. She is fine with dogs. Go figure.

Donna, I don't think she would do any better in your home than mine; you have multiple cats as well!

You know, I was looking at her and thinking she looks so much like my old foster Precious, and has the same temperament too.

I hope she does well in her foster home.

I've attached a pic of Precious. They look like sisters!!!

Just thought I'd update this thread. Foster mom has posted Blossom on craigslist, explaining all that was on the petfinder site and then some. If she is within 10 feet of another cat she goes ballistic! So she really does need to be the only cat in the home. Foster mom wants to place her, so she can keep fostering for the shelter. with Blossom in her spare bedroom, there is no room for introducing any other fosters to her crew.

I sure hope she finds a great home.

Blossom is still waiting for a home! She needs to be the only cat, as she does NOT get along with other cats at all.
