Driver follows sat-nav into lake

A Polish driver steered his mini bus straight into a lake - after his sat-nav told him to.

Stunned police got a frantic call from the bus driver as he called from the Mercedes van screaming that he and his two passengers were drowning.

"A man phoned in panic from his mobile phone. He managed to say that he had driven into a lake and he was sinking fast," said police spokesman Marcin Guzenda in Glubczyce, south west Poland.

"He said he had two passengers but he couldn't open the doors - and then he got cut off."

Police, fire and ambulance services rushed to the lake and found the driver and his passengers perched on the top of the mini-bus's roof.

The trio were taken to hospital after the accident but released after treatment for shock.

Springing for LoJack and Onstar would not have helped.

Swimming lessons and a waterproof cell phone? Probably!

A not so happy ending.

Oh my.....some people shouldn't be allowed to drive.....

Reminds me of a story about a girl my sister used to work with. She was following another car, and the car in front lost control and drove off the side of the road, down a small embankment. The girl in the car following then did the same, smacking into the first car. Her excuse? She thought that the first car was taking a shortcut!

Actually,

I find this story a tie.

I think that listening to that soothing voice telling you to go straight and not wanting to go against technology makes this one a wash.

LOL,
In fighter jets they call the cockpit annunciator voice (it's a woman's voice) b!tch!ng betty.

Did this happen at night? Coming from someone who is pathetically directionally challenged, if the nav system told me to go straight, I may have followed directions because it was dark and then realized all too late what was happening. Ok, let the jokes begin....:p

Let's try the basic "can you follow directions" test-

I learned this from Soupy Sales.

1. Take all the pieces of paper with the pictures of men from your purse.

2. Put them in an envelope.

3. Write my name and address on the front.

4. Put a stamp on it.

5. Drop it into a mail box.

If you get this far, you have no problems with directions.;)
